For the second consecutive time, Chelsea ended a game with a goalless draw.

For this reason, the Blues manager, Antonio Conte, even if satisfied with some aspects of his team’s performance, believes Chelsea must improve in the situations when they can score a goal.

For sure I think it would be better to win the game, also 1-0. The positive things were that we didn’t concede and when you play a semi-final with two legs and not concede at home can be important. We tried to win, shot 20 times, created chances but couldn’t take them. In the last period we must be more clinical, if you don’t score the game can finish in a draw. After Norwich it is the second 0-0 in a row. We have to improve on the training pitch in this situation.” Conte said, “You must be worried if you don’t create and it is difficult not to score. Every game we create chances, this season we might be a bit unlucky, but haven’t taken the chances. The speech is not for the strikers, Christensen had two fantastic chances to score. It is not just the strikers, you have to take chances. The semi-final it is important to take your chances”

Speaking after the Carabao Cup semifinal’s first leg at Stamford Bridge, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger claims his team deserve to draw vs Chelsea tonight.

It was a game that was physical and two teams that defended very well. It was the first leg of a tie but we had great solidarity. It was a deserved 0-0, we couldn’t take our chances. But we will try to do out job in the second leg. We have played so many games against Chelsea”, Wenger said.

The Gunners’ manager spoke also about VAR (“There were only two opportunities to intervene, the second one was strange with the game going on for so long. With it coming back after a corner, it’s strange for it going on after two minutes”.) and Wilshere‘s injury (“He has an ankle strain, first look is it is not too bad. But for Sunday it might be too short, it is a ligament. It’s a shame”).

Moreover, Arsene Wenger gave some updates on Arsenal’s strategies during January tranfer window: “I do not have to justify every decision, I have managed over 1000 games. I want him [Sanchez] to stay for longer. He is an important player for us.”, Wenger said, “He is completely focused to play football. He warmed up like that and he wants to play football. Coquelin goes to Valencia, he didn’t get enough games. I let him go. The best way to replace him is getting Ramsey and Ozil back. Then we’ll see. We have players injured”.

Jon Anderson, the Mayor of Liverpool, wrote a letter to the Merseyside Police, the Premier League and the Football Association as they want them to investigate over Ross Barkley‘s move to Chelsea.

According to Anderson, this move might have been deliberately delayed at the expense of Everton.

At best, this represents a very poor deal for Everton Football Club,” Anderson wrote according to ESPN. “At worst, it could be seen as a deliberate attempt to drive down a player’s value in the transfer market so as to benefit the player, his agent and the buying club. I am so concerned about the circumstances surrounding this transfer that I am asking the appropriate police authorities to consider whether any fraud has taken place.”

Willian already won the League Cup in the 2014/2015 season when Chelsea defeated Tottenham in the final.

Now the Brazilian player wants to repeat this experience and win another trophy with the Blues, but first Antonio Conte‘s side must beat Arsenal in the semifinal whose first leg will be played tonight at Stamford Bridge.

We are confident,” Willian told the official Chelsea website. “It’s another semi-final for us and a great opportunity to reach the final. It’s a big game, an important game, and of course we want to get through to Wembley. There are two legs and we have to make sure we’re ready for each match. If we win at Stamford Bridge we can go to the Emirates in a good position. Arsenal are strong at home, they have a lot of possession and play with the ball but I think if we play well over the two legs and do a good job we can reach the final. We are really strong at Stamford Bridge and we have to continue in that way. You always have to try to win when you play at home and hopefully we can do a great job against Arsenal.”

Tomorrow night during the Carabao Cup semifinal’s first leg Chelsea vs Arsenal, the VAR (Video assistant referee) will be used for the first time in an EL competition.

Today, during his press conference the Blues manager Antonio Conte spoke about this technology which is already used, for example, in Italy. “In Italy from the start of the season we are doing this. This is a good opportunity to improve our football but it will take a bit of time to use in the right way this option. When there is a big mistake it is important to correct this mistake, Conte said, “At the start it wasn’t easy to accept this type of solution, to stop the play and wait the right decision. I think this good be a good solution because you reduce the mistakes, especially big mistakes and I think it is right for football to have less mistakes”.
