Maurizio Sarri will make Napoli star Dries Mertens Chelsea’s first summer target if his takeover at Stamford Bridge is completed, according to reports in the Daily Telegraph.
The Italian manager is edging ever closer to sign for Chelsea with Gianfranco Zola reportedly set for an assistant coach role.
Zola was coy on a potential move to the West London side as he told SuperSport yesterday: “There is a lot of rumours about me at the moment and nothing has happened. And we’ll see what happens in the future.
“I don’t know. I was afraid you were going to ask me this. Really, I don’t know”.
Moreover, the signing of the Belgian 31-year-old could be a proper move in order to persuade both Eden Hazard and Thibaut Courtois to stay at Chelsea also next season.
