Chelsea legend Didier Drogba is not tired of professional football: the Ivory Coast striker, aged 39, has joined the Phoenix Rising, team which play in the United Soccer League.
Not only Drogba will play for the side from Phoenix, Arizona, but he is also one of the co-owner of the club, joining the MLS expansion franchise ownership group.
Phoenix Rising actually hope to become an MLS franchise in three years. “To own a team and be a player at the same time is unusual but it’s going to be very exciting”. – Drogba said – “It’s a good transition because I want to carry on playing but I’m almost 40 and it’s important for me to prepare for my later career”.
