Reports from the London Evening Standard have said that Chelsea have failed in a bid to sign Dinamo Zagreb keeper Adrian Semper.
The article claims that Blues representatives recently travelled to Croatia to discuss a potential deal for the 18-year old, who has featured for Zagreb in the UEFA Youth League this season.
Semper’s current deal expires in 2018.
Speaking to the press, Zagreb boss Zoran Mamic said that despite being given a “great offer” by Chelsea, Semper’s potential warranted a rejection:
“Chelsea representatives have been in Zagreb, where they have prepared a great offer,” Mamic said.
“They were professional and pleasant people, but we said no.
“It is never easy to reject such a big offer for a young player, but we are convinced Adrian has a fantastic future ahead of him and we want him to spend at least some of that future with Dinamo.”
