During today’s press conference Chelsea boss Guus Hiddink revealed the reason why Radamel Falcao is still at Chelsea.
The Colombian striker came to Stamford Bridge last summer on loan from Monaco but his spell at the Blues hasn’t been so lucky until now: 11 games, 1 goal and 3 serious injuries.
It has been a curse for the 29-years-old since he broke his knee ligaments in January 2014, missing also the World Cup in Brazil: he never came back as the dangerous number 9 that he was at Porto and Atletico Madrid.
Hiddink revealed today that he was meant to go back to his parent club, Monaco, but the new injury he had in the first days of the year blocked his return to the Jardim’s side.
““For Falcao is important to play, to start playing, if you see the path he had here and in Man United, he didn’t have much playing time.
Then he added: “The reason why they [Monaco] don’t take him back is injury-wise.
