Chelsea loanee Patrick Bamford has been nominated for the Football League Young Player of the Year award.
The striker is currently on-loan with Championship outfit Middlesbrough and has scored 18 goals for Boro, helping them in their fight to secure promotion to the Premier League.
Bamford has been joined on the three-man shortlist rivals by MK Dons midfielder Dele Alli and Norwich City winger Nathan Redmond.
Having worked his way up the youth system at Nottingham Forest, Bamford was signed by Chelsea for just over £1.5 million in 2012. He has since had a series of loan spells at MK Dons, and spent the second half of last season on-loan at fellow Championship promotion contenders Derby.
However, since his move to Middlesbrough, the 22-year old has been a huge hit in the north-east, being a regular starter in Aitor Karanka’s side. As well as the 18 goals, which included the second goal in the Teesider’s recent victory over Rotherham, Bamford has seven assists in 39 appearances.
The winner of the award will be announced this Sunday at a gala ceremony in London.
