Chelsea goalkeeper Asmir Begovic admits Chelsea have not been good enough but that the club still has high expectations for this season.
Speaking to Chelsea’s official website, Begovic, who joined Chelsea in the summer from today’s opponents Stoke City, says that he has enjoyed his time at Stamford Bridge despite the team’s rotten form so far this campaign. He has played every game since Thibaus Courtous’ injury in September.
Begovic is quoted as saying this:
“I’ve enjoyed the whole experience since I got here.
“Moving to Chelsea is not something you can prepare for. You don’t know exactly what it’s going to be like but I have been in the game long enough to come in and be comfortable with the situation.
“It’s a step-up in the right direction in every single department, and it’s definitely been the right step in my career. Being part of a top club, and everything that comes with it – the whole environment, the fans, how big it is globally – has been amazing.
“In terms of the Premier League of course we would have liked to have done better, but the Champions League campaign has gone okay so far. Overall, it’s been a really good change for me.
“We set high standards and we have high expectations of ourselves in the dressing room so it’s not been easy. On the other hand though there is a huge determination to turn things round, work through this tough time and work it out in the future.
“We are going step by step, game by game, and it’s about putting a run of wins together. We can get back up that table quickly.”
The Bosnia and Herzegovina international will almost certainly be in goal for Chelsea at the Brittania Stadium this afternoon.
