Chelsea, here’s what you need to improve

What a season for Chelsea. Leaving aside the black out in the FA Cup final, the Blues under Antonio Conte surprised everyone and marched to the Premier League trophy in style.

Now it’s been confirmed Antonio will stay at Stamford Bridge, him and Roman Abramovich can plan next season and look at the transfer window to improve a team that has been almost perfect in the league this season. But how do you make the current Chelsea side better?

Conte has proved once again to be amazing when it comes to build a team to fight for a league, without mid week interferences. Next season, though, Chelsea will have the Champions League to compete in as well, and Conte will need to find a way to be competitive in both the Premier League and Europe.

So the first step will need to be to add depth to this squad. Apart from the main starting eleven, Conte has used Cesc Fabregas, Pedro and Willian often, but that’s it. More is needed to be at the best level always, on Wednesdays and on Saturdays.

Something in defence will be necessary, as well as replacements for Marcos Alonso and Victor Moses on the wings. Going up and down the flank isn’t exactly the most relaxing of jobs, and some fresh energy will be appreciated.

On top of that, it looks like Diego Costa and also Fabregas might be leaving, creating the space for one or two reinforcements up front and an alternative to Nemanja Matic and N’Golo Kante in the middle.

Everton’s Romelu Lukaku seems like a valid name, but Conte will want to consider several options before splashing out all the cash. Inter’s Ivan Perisic could be a name to spend for the wings, Roma’s Radja Nainggolan that solid, strong midfielder that could further raise the level of the team.

Conte enjoys working with and on his players, and he’ll need time to forge them, so expect Chelsea to get the signings as early as possible. Quality over quantity: with three signings the team would probably be complete, ready to give it a go in both competitions.

Two top trophies to compete for will be a real challenge for this Blues side, who will need to adapt to a completely different routine. If the club does the job in the transfer window, Conte will have the men to work on and try to give the Chelsea fans another wonder season.
