Conte hints he regrets to let some youngsters go

During today’s press conference ahead of Tottenham’s game at Wembley next Sunday Chelsea manager Antonio Conte hinted he was not pleased to let youngsters as Nathaniel Chalobah and Ruben Loftus-Cheek go.

The first one completed a permanent move to Watford, the second one is on loan at Crystal Palace.

With Gary Cahill and Cesc Fabregas suspension, Eden Hazard and Tiemoué Bakayoko not ready yet for official games, Chalobah and Loftus-Cheek could have been useful in Spurs clash.

When he was asked if he regretted their departures, Conte bluntly responded: ‘

“Another question, please.”

Pressed on whether he would be more open to giving young players a chance this season, he added:

“If you remember last season I utilised different young players.

“Don’t forget Ake, Chalobah and Loftus-Cheek. And also Kenedy and Aina as well. I think for a club like Chelsea if I have the opportunity to have players ready to play I’m the first person to be happy.

“But I repeat the players need to grow in the right way or you risk damage to them and the club.”
