Everton striker Oumar Niasse claimed that former Chelsea boss José Mourinho wanted to sign him in the last January transfer window, but he didn’t even had time to start the negotiation because he was sacked before Christmas:
“My manager told me Mourinho was interested,” Niasse told The Guardian.
“He said Mourinho liked the way I play and had been looking at me since I was in Turkey [with Akhisar Belediyespor].
“He was very interested in me for this last transfer window but then he was sacked.”
At the end Niasse moved from Lokomotiv Moscow to Everton but Chelsea fans won’t have many regrets for this missed signing since the Senegal striker has yet to score for the Toffees, though his lack of match fitness and an injury issue with his wrist can be blamed for his poor start in the Merseyside club.
