Radamel Falcao will earn less than half what he was paid last season following his move to Chelsea yesterday, according to his reports in England and France.
The Colombian has signed on a season long loan from Monaco after a poor campaign at Manchester United in which he struggled for form. Manchester United paid his Monaco salary in full throughout the campaign- believed to be £265,000 a week.
Chelsea have been able to negotiate a wage packet of only £130,000 a week for the former Atletico Madrid and Porto striker. The deal was apparently dependent upon how much Falcao’s salary the Premiership champions would pay, and that they have been able to agree upon such a relatively paltry amount is to the club’s credit.
Chelsea have become renowned in recent years for their use of the transfer market which has the team improve year-upon-year at the same time as making a profit for the club.
