Jose Mourinho has criticised goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois for the part he played in Charlie Adam’s wonder strike.
The Special One praised the effort from the Scottish midfielder, but expected better from his number one.
Adam made it 1-1 when he spotted Courtois off his line and proceeded to score with a sublime effort from 66 yards. The Belgian goalkeeper is over 6ft but could only watch as the sublime effort flew over his head and into the net.
Mourinho said: “When my goalkeeper plays at the limit of the box he has to read the game and know the quality of the opponent, we work on that a lot.
“Charlie Adam has a strong left leg and a condition for a 50-metre shot. He should anticipate the moment we lost the ball but it’s a great goal.
“It was a fantastic goal, something every super player in the world would like to score.
“Diego Maradona to Lionel Messi to all these brilliant players, all of them would love to score a goal like this but not all of them do in their career.”
