During the Leaders in Sport Business Summit 2015, the FA board member Heather Rabbatts has called to change the rules regarding position of the medical staff in the clubs and more specifically, their rights and obligations.
During the summit that was held at Stamford Bridge, Rabbats has called the FA to think about more effective sanctions for those managers who try to influence their medical staff. There is no doubt that the whole discussion was caused as a result of the conflict between Jose Mourinho and Eva Carneiro.
Speaking at the Leaders in Sport Business Summit 2015, Rabbatts said:
“It may well be that we need to think about more effective sanctions if protocols are breached. Perhaps a disciplinary offence if there are interferences with the referee and the medical staff.”
“We have to look within the FA at the processes and we will do so in the forthcoming weeks. The issue of safeguarding players is clearly vitally important, and there are a number of concerns shared by Premier League doctors and the association of medical practitioners.”
“There are a number of things to look at and reflect how we can do better, and I sincerely hope we see Eva Carneiro back in football soon.”
