Alvaro Arbeloa was one of the few players that did not turn his back to José Mourinho in his last year at Real Madrid.
Two years ago Arbeloa accused the Real Madrid dressing room of self-interest and zero commitment when Mourinho was in charge and in a recent interview to the TV Spanish program “El Chiringuito” he admitted he’s still a “Mourinhista” and that he’s still in contact with his former manager:
“I tried to explain on Onda Cero radio what it is like to be a ‘Mourinhista, that’s not to idolise Jose. It’s a way of saying things, of moving forward, and not be afraid of who you are. I try to be as much of a ‘Mourinhista’ as possible”
“Everyone has their own way of working and Mourinho believes in picking the players that are working best. He knows I am a fighter and he doesn’t need to motivate me”
“I spoke to him last Friday. He’s happy and content in London because his family are happy and there isn’t the persecution he and his kid got here. Professionally he has a great team and is doing well“.
