An investigation into racism in the English game has revealed that Chelsea’ supporters have been involved in the highest number of report racist incident as they travel to and from games.
With police dealing with many incidents from the top of the game all the way down to grassroots level, it has been revealed that racism is widespread in English football.
The findings follows of a high profile case in which Chelsea fans prevented a black man from boarding a tube in Paris as they sang racist chants.
Whilst five of them are due to appear in court this week, police were called to investigate a group of the club’s fans who allegedly made racist chants on a public transport following their League Cup success.
A club spokesman for Chelsea said of the investigation: “The club’s position on discriminatory behaviour is clear and we work closely with relevant authorities on their investigations.”
