Eden Hazard has revealed that he wishes to return to his former club Lille should he one day leave Chelsea.
Hazard signed for Chelsea in the summer of 2012 from the Ligue 1 club for over £30 million and has for the most part excelled, despite the disruption of having played under three different managers in less than three years. His form this season has helped Chelsea to within a few victories of winning their first league title since 2010, as well as all but ensuring that he will receive one, if not both, of the Player of the Year awards- the PFA and the Football Writers’.
Since he joined Chelsea, it has rumoured that Hazard will soon seek challenges elsewhere, either at Real Madrid or back in France at spendthrift PSG. However, the Belgian has said he will only return to the club where he made his name should he leave Stamford Bridge.
He told Lille’s official television channel:
“For the moment, I’m good at Chelsea.
I have always said I want to stay there and win as many trophies as possible, but we’ll see after that. In football, you never know.
“But it’s true that if I come back to France, I have always said that I would come to Lille. Perhaps one day I’ll come back, I don’t know.”
Hazard has recently signed a new contract at Chelsea keeping him at the club until 2020.
