Roma are willing to sell Chelsea target Alessio Romagnoli having rejected a bid from fellow Serie A side AC Milan, according to reports in Italy.
Romagnoli has been a target for Chelsea all summer, and a bidding war between Chelsea, other Premiership teams and AC Milan now appears likely after the Rome side opted to cash in on the centre-back.
Chelsea made a bid for Everton’s John Stones last week, but are still pursuing the 20-year-old Roma defender. It was thought that Arsenal were leading the race to sign him but there is the possibility that Chelsea could use Mohammed Salah as a makeweight in any deal.
Chelsea will return to Everton with an improved bid for Stones but will pursue Romagnoli until they do indeed sign a centre-back.
Roma are believed to value Romagnoli at £25 million.
