Premier League outfit Middlesbrough have announced the departure of Aitor Karanka, with the club in the relegation zone.

Chelsea, who beat Boro at the Riverside thanks to Diego Costa‘s goal in November, are set to face them at Stamford Bridge on 6th of May.

Middlesbrough are currently 19th in Premier League table, following the poor performances showed so far.

Middlesbrough manager Aitor Karanka has recently confirmed that Chelsea made an approach in order to sign the 20-year-old midfielder in a near future.

Anyway, the Spaniar has been told to be focused on performances for his current side despite Antonio Conte is keeping tabs on him.

Karanka is quoted to have said: “If a team like Chelsea is following Adama, it’s because his progression has been brilliant in six months and he’s doing well,”

“But he’s young and the main thing he has to do is to keep going in the same way because football changes a lot”.

“Maybe he is in a big moment, but with Patrick here now, with other players already, maybe in two or three months, he will not be playing and Chelsea disappears and everybody disappears.”

Middlesbrough head coach Aitor Karanka, speaking after his side’s home defeat against Chelsea, pointed out his pleasure with the performance showed despite the disappointing score.

“Playing against a team like Chelsea, we knew it was going to be a tough game. Once again, we showed we can compete against the best teams in the league and once again one mistake cost us – the Spaniard stated – You can’t be pleased when you lose a game, particularly at home, but I’m really pleased with the attitude of the players because once again they played the way we have performed in the last month, month and a half”.

Then Karanka added: “To concede a goal from a set piece is a mistake, but I don’t want to blame any player because we win as a team and we lose as a team.”

About Premier League leaders Chelsea: “They defend together, they are really dangerous in transition, they have a lot of quality in different ways. We knew everything before the game and we were almost perfect, but to not lose against this team you have to do it 100 percent, not one mistake.”

Chelsea defender Kenneth Omeruo was set to join Middlesbrough back on loan after the last good campaign he spent there but, at last minute, Turkish side Kasimpasa signed him: a loan deal again, but It is understood that the Istanbul team will have the option to make the deal permanent at the end of the season.

The Nigerian, anyway, is very grateful to Middelsbrough and speaking to the GazetteLive he claimed that ex José Mourinho’s assistant at Real Madrid, Aitor Karanka, is the right man to bring back Boro to the Premier League:

“I settled into life on Teesside so well that I almost bought a house there,” he said. “The initial paperwork had already been completed but I had to back out at the last minute when the news of my move came through.

“I am so thankful for the opportunity to play for Boro and be part of that special group of players. It’s a fantastic football club and I’ve gained a lot of experience from my time there.”

All we wanted was for the club to win promotion even if I wasn’t getting much playing time. We were so close.

“Karanka is a very smart manager and I really believe he is the man to bring Premier League football back to the club.

“Every day in training was like a game, it was so competitive and that’s good because it pushes you to work hard.

“Once you lose your spot in the team it’s very difficult to get it back again and that is an important lesson that I learnt.”

“The effort Kasimpasa put in to try and make my loan move possible has shown me just how much they want me involved in their team. I am looking forward to meeting the squad and playing regular first team football here.

I’ve already had almost two weeks of pre-season training with Chelsea and I have been working with the fitness coaches since I arrived in Turkey a few days ago. I’m feeling fit and ready for the new season.”

Middlesbrough’s coach Aitor Karanka, reveals that Patrick Bamford almost certainly will not return to the team for next season.

Patrick Bamford joined Middlesbrough on a loan from Chelsea in 2014. During his outstanding season at Boro he scored 17 goals in 39 appeareances. That is why team coach is convinced that Bamford will join one of the Premier League clubs for the next season instead of staying at Riverside Stadium.

Aitor Karanka said :

“I don’t think Patrick’s coming because he showed everybody last season that he can play in the Premier League and I am sure he has offers to play in the Premier League, he has offers to play in other countries because he is a very good player.”

On 31 January 2012, Bamford joined Chelsea on a five-year contract for a fee of £1.5 million. But he has never made a debut for the Blues as he was immediately loaned out. First he joined MK Dons where again he showed his best side scoring 18 goals in 38 matches. On 3 January 2014, Derby County confirmed the signing of Bamford on a loan until the end of the season. He finished that loan with 8 goals in 21 appearances.

His latest loan destination was Middlesbrough but this time it seems that it was his last loan as many Premier League clubs are fighting for the player.

According to West London Sport, Middlesbrough is really keen on signing Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek. However Boro considers only a season-long deal instead of a permanent contract.

It seems that Middlesbrough enjoys a lot signing young Chelsea’s starlets on a loans. Last year at Riverside Stadium arrived Patrick Bamford, Kenneth Omeruo and Jamal Blackman. While this summer they took Ruben Loftus-Cheek on the radar.

Aitor Karanka, Middlegsbrough coach and Jose Mourinho’s assistant when they were at Real Madrid is really keen on singing 19-year-old on season-long loan. At the very beginning the Special One had some plans for the young player but now after the dissapointment in Sydney he may possibly agree to transfer.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek is currently participating in the European Under-21 Championship in the Czech Republic.

Nathan Ake

Having failed to get promoted, losing to Norwich City in the Play-Off Final, it looks as if Middlesbrough will be looking towards Chelsea for some young talent to take on loan next season to try to get promoted to the Premier League.

Reports suggest that Patrick Bamford is on their wanted list as they seek to retain, for a second season, the player who was their top-scorer in the season that just ended.

Rumours doing the rounds suggest that Bamford would like a chance to impress at Stamford Bridge but it’s more possible he will be loaned again in the next season, as Mourinho believes is not ready to impress in the Chelsea first team yet.

Another name on top of Karanka’s list is the one of the Dutch midfielder Nathan Ake, 20 – who this year spent a month on loan to Reading- but the deal is still far to be done.

Boro will ask Chelsea for more loanees, as they will try to be even more competitive in the next campaign so to try to directly access the Premier League.

Karanka spent three years as Mourinho's #2 at Real Madrid

Middlesbrough manager Aitor Karanka has said that Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is his greatest influence.

Karanka took charge of the Teesiders in November 2013, and has masterminded a brilliant 2014-15 season, which will culminate next weekend in the play-off Championship final against Norwich.

Should Middlesbrough win the Wembley tie, which is considered the most expensive game in world football with an estimated value of between £120-40 million, then Karanka will meet Mourinho again. He worked under Mourinho as assistant manager at Real Madrid.

Boro won 25 of their 46 league games this season, drawing 10 and losing 11. They finished fourth at the end of the regular season, and faced fifth place Brentford in the play-off semi-finals.

They won the first leg away from home 2-1, and then strolled to the final with a 3-0 win at Riverside.

Karanka keeps an old calendar Mourinho gave him – with the Special One’s picture and words of advice on every page – on his desk at Boro’s training ground.

Should Middlesbrough win the game on May 25th, the 41-year old ‘anointed Special One’ will be able to rub shoulders with the original, and Karanka was quick to praise someone who has provided a guiding influence over the years.

“Jose has been the biggest influence, for sure.

“I spoke to him before the Brentford game, but he is always there for me.”

Bamford has piqued the interest of a number of clubs after his loan spell at Middlesbrough.

Daily Mail are reporting today that Chelsea opened talks with Patrick Bamford to extend his contract.

The striker, 22, is undergoing an impressive campaign at Middlesbrough -where he’s playing on loan- where he already scored 17 goals to help them to fight for the Premier League promotion.

Bamford’s contract with the Blues will expire next year and he’s currently earning 7.500 £ per week, but Chelsea are keen to improve his wages and extend the deal to secure him for the next seasons.

Bamford has piqued the interest of a number of clubs after his loan spell at Middlesbrough.

Chelsea loanee Patrick Bamford has once again been the star of the Middlesbrough show this afternoon, and arguably the star of their whole season in general.

Boro won 1-0 over relegation-threatened Wigan earlier this afternoon, Bamford’s first half strike sealing the points. The win put the Northern side at top of the table in the Championship, with 75 points. Nearest rivals Bournemouth could only draw 1-1 with play-off hopefuls Ipswich, whilst Watford missed out on the chance to go top with a 2-2 draw at fellow promotion chasers Derby. The failures of both Bournemouth and Watford to seize their chance to take top spot  extends Middlesbrough’s time at the top until at least Monday.

Norwich were the only side in the top six to win yesterday – they overcame Brighton 0-1 at the Amex. Play-off positions also changed hands – Brentford thumped London rivals Fulham 1-4 at Craven Cottage, whilst Wolves all but ended Nottingham Forest’s hopes of making the play-offs as Wolves ran out 1-2 winners at the City Ground.

Boro’s next game could decide the outcome of the season – they play Watford at Vicarage Road in the game of the day in the Championship. With this in mind, the away side will hope that Bamford’s recent form will continue long enough to secure a huge win.

Bamford has now scored 18 goals so far in this campaign for the Teesiders – that are managed by Mourinho’s ex-assistant at Real Madrid Aitor Karanka.

At present, after 40 games, the top of the Championship table is incredibly tight:

1. Middlesbrough – 75 points

2. Bournemouth – 74 points

3. Norwich – 73 points

4. Watford – 73 points

5. Brentford – 69 points

6. Derby – 68 points

7. Ipswich – 68 points

8. Wolves – 68 points (Nottingham Forest are 9th, but with 57 points)

With this season giving us the tightest and most intense Championship promotion race seen in years, Bamford’s form may prove crucial if the Riverside team are to be playing in the Premier League next season.

Ross Barkley had a crucial role in Chelsea's draw vs Manchester United at Stamford Bridge, scoring the 2-2's goal in injury time. Speaking to the club's official webisite, the midfielder now admits he...
