Eden Hazard praised his team-mate Olivier Giroud after last Saturday’s brilliant game, where the Frenchman served up his first two goals on a plate:

“Olivier’s a target man, maybe the best in the world; I think so,” said the Belgian.

“When he gets the ball he can hold the ball and we can go in deep with him, so for us it’s a pleasure to play with him.

“When Alvaro (Morata) was playing it’s completely different, but they both have great qualities, so I’m happy to have good strikers in the team.

“The game [against Cardiff] was very tough. We knew, especially after the (international) break, it’s always very hard to play a good game because you are all a bit tired, but at the end we got three points. That’s what is important.

“I think, okay, we can play better, we should play better, but we scored four goals and it’s a good game for us.”

In the last Premier League clash Cardiff took a shock lead through defender Sol Bamba‘s tidy finish, as the visitors pulled off a smart training-ground move.

Hazard praised Chelsea for refusing to panic however, with the Blues hitting back quickly to carry a 2-1 lead into half-time.

“After 20 minutes the score was 1-0 for Cardiff, but we just kept playing our football and then, when we have the chance, we need to score, and that’s what we did.

“The manager just wants Chelsea to keep the ball, and then when we can find a solution, we need to find good passes between the lines, like Jorginho, (Mateo) Kovacic and (Cesc) Fabregas can do.

“So, we have a lot of good players, and at the moment we are in confidence, so we shoot, we score. We need to keep this momentum.

“We have a lot of freedom on the pitch, so when we are in this condition we just need to take the ball and try something, and at the moment something happens, so that is very good.

“When I’m on the pitch I’m just trying to create chances, score goals. A hat-trick comes with confidence, so I will try to do more of this.”

Good news for Chelsea players who are with their national teams during this international break.

Blues’ winger Willian replaced Douglas Costa early in the second half in Brazil‘s win 5-0 vs El Salvador. Willian himself almost scored few minutes after coming on the pitch.

Chelsea’s defender Cesar Azpilicueta played the last 15 minutes in Spain‘s large win (6-0) over Croatia in the Nations League. Chelsea and Croatian midfielder Kovacic played the whole game while Marcos Alonso and striker Alvaro Morata sit on the bench for the entire 90 minutes.

Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata has cited again Antonio Conte’s style of play as one of the reasons of his fickle first season at Stamford Bridge.

Speaking to Spanish radio Cadena Ser he was asked about whether he enjoys life under Maurizio Sarri more, he was pretty emphatic in his answer.

“Yes, yes, yes. For me, yes,” he replied.

Morata also went into his injury problems which seemed to go under the radar.

He explained that he should have taken time off instead of forcing himself to play through it:

“A player they pay for can’t finish the season with 15 goals. People think we’re machines.

“If I had stopped for three months, I would have come back with a clear head, but I was professional and I wanted to give everything.

“If I could go back, I would stop for two months.

“I was in pain, I went to Germany to see the doctor, paying for private planes.

“People believe the false life of Instagram, what it shows you; they thought I was at home with my wife.

“Someday, I’ll write a book about what I’ve been through.”

Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri was very satisfied as he spoke during his post-game press conference at Stamford Bridge after the Blues win over Bournemouth. “I am very happy with my players. They are doing well in the week and the matches”. the Italian manager said. “I am happy with 12 points but I always think we can do more and improve”.

Four win in four games has been a perfect Premier League start so far, but Maurizio Sarri is aware the gap with Manchester City is still huge and he doesn’t want to speak about the title race: “I think it is better now to think about the next match. The gap at the beginning was 30 points, so I think it is very difficult to cover this gap in one season”. Sarri admitted. “I am very happy with the four matches, but only starting from now to the next match”.

The Blues manager commented also on today’s match: “I am happy with the result and the performance. It was a very difficult game, they are very organised and defended very well”. Sarri explained. “The first half was difficult and maybe we needed to move the ball with another speed and without the ball. In this match you can win in the last 20 minutes”.

Then, on Olivier Giroud replacing Alvaro Morata: “It depends the moment of the pitch. We crossed lots so I thought Giroud in that moment was better, it depends on the situation. Alvaro is improving, maybe he needs more space. However, I am lucky because Giroud is very useful”.

Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata has blamed his former boss Antonio Conte for his playing style: according to the Spanish striker, the Italian coach’s direct football was one of the main reason for his inconsistent form in the past campaign:

“For me, it’s easy. I could have gone back to Spain or Italy, all the people believe in me there, but I want to change things here,” said Morata.

“I want to, not for all the haters, but for me and for Chelsea.

“Chelsea gave me everything that I needed and now I have time to give back all that Chelsea give me.

“The most important thing is the way we play. Last season it was direct balls and for me to protect the ball in the air is not my best quality.

“Now I can attack the space, I can play one touch and go in the area for the crosses. It’s better for me.”

Morata admits that Maurizio Sarri‘s playing style is more suitable for his qualities:

“Sarri works with the ball always and when you always have the ball the strikers have more chances.”

Speaking about this season’s goals he said:

“I want to score more than 30 goals, but I would prefer to score 15 or 20 and get the Premier League or one big trophy.”

Spanish striker Alvaro Morata scored the second Chelsea‘s goal on Saturday in the Blues win over Arsenal at Stamford Bridge.

This goal was important for the team and Morata himself: The last year was very hard for me, not just with confidence. The injury [last season] was very bad for me and my head, but when the ball goes into the net everything changes. Your mind isn’t blocked anymore and I hope now I can score a lot of goals.” Morata told Chelsea official website. “I think for me the most important thing is the mode we play. Last year it was direct, I had to protect the ball in the air and that’s not my best quality. Now I can attack the spaces, play one-touch and go into the area for the crosses which is better for me.

Alvaro Morata is happy not only on a personal note, but also because of the way Chelsea started their Premier League campaing. “I think we play good football when we have the ball”. the striker said.‘We need to improve on small things but it’s only been one month since we’ve all been together with the manager and I think if we continue like this we can play against any team in the world. I’m very happy because it was three very important points against Arsenal. In the Premier League I think if you win your first five games you’re in the fight because here in every game you can lose or drop points.’

Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri is confident striker Alvaro Morata could help the Blues in their Premier League game at Stamford Bridge vs Arsenal.

Speaking to Chelsea official website, the Italian admitted Morata’s performances are becoming better and better:  “Against Huddersfield I think he was better than in pre-season.” Sarri said. “He needs to score, but every striker in the world needs to score”.

Then Sarri himself also explained the difficulties his team had in the first half of their Premier League opener: “In the first half we had a problem pressing against their three defenders and it was a surprise for us because in pre-season Huddersfield had played 4-2-3-1, so this was their first time with three defenders and I had some problem in the first part of the game because of this.”

Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri seemed satisfied about his team performance in tonight’s game vs Arsenal.

We had the first training on the 16 of July. We are late compared to Arsenal on the physical condition”. Sarri said in his post-match press conference. We have done very well in the first half and then we made a mistake in the last minute”.

Then the Italian manager praised Hudson-Odoi, one of the best Chelsea players tonight and “justified” Alvaro Morata who missed a penalty in the first half.  “Hudson-Odoi is a young player. We have to wait. But in the future he will be a very, very strong player”. Sarri explained. “Will he be in the first team squad? I think so He will be staying with us for all the season”.

On Morata, on the other hand: “I don’t know if he’s not confident. Maybe he was tired. The last three days for him have been very intense so maybe in this match he was tired”.

Finally, Maurizio Sarri spoke also about Willian, Eden Hazard and Thibaut Courtois who could leave Chelsea in the last few days of 2018 summer transfer window. “I will see them on Saturday for the first time so I don’t know the situation in this moment. the Italian manager admitted. “We are talking about top players and I think every club wants to keep top players”.
