Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois spoke after his side’s 2-0 win to Hull City.

The Belgian star told the club’s official website: “We knew it would be hard, they’ve changed their manager and it’s harder for other teams to beat them as well”,

“Manchester United found it tough against them, they won against Bournemouth and they came with a plan so it wasn’t easy. I don’t think we played our best game but we are pleased to get the three points.”

“We wanted to win more games after the Tottenham result, and before we play Liverpool and Arsenal. Now we have a big gap, hopefully we can win against them and put ourselves further away”.

Chelsea striker Diego Costa completed his 100th appearance with the Blues’ shirt scoring another crucial goal in Premier League.

“We were very calm about it because we knew what was going on with Diego, – Courtois added – Speculation in the press is for the outside and maybe other teams find that stuff pleasing when it comes out”.

“But we knew it was just a minor injury and sometimes you have to sit out one game. Yesterday he was back, fit and scored a goal so it was good”.

Then he ended: “There was too much talk last week for him. He was just calm, working hard in training and he showed that in the game”.

“When I don’t play I’m sad and I don’t enjoy it but I’m happy the team is doing well. Football is my life, it’s everything to me.

“Every time I’m on the pitch I try to do my best. In this game it went well again so I just need to keep going and show the manager I deserve to play.”

Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas spoke after his side’s 2-0 win to Hull City at Stamford Bridge last evening.

The Spaniard, who came off the bench in the second half, told the club’s official website: “First of all I would like to say, on behalf of Chelsea and the team, we want to wish Ryan Mason well,”

“It was a very tough game, we knew it would be from the beginning, we prepared very well for it and it paid off. In the Premier League there are no easy games but we must be pleased with the result because it was three points we really wanted”.

“After this weekend, when there were some unexpected results, we knew it was a must-win to go into two difficult games with the advantage we wanted”.

“In the first half maybe we didn’t play the ball as quickly as we had to, but sometimes you have to win in a way which isn’t the prettiest. In this game it went well again so I just need to keep going and show the manager I deserve to play”.

About his teammate and compatriot Diego Costa, Fabregas added:

“It was a good goal and he’s always there when we need him, we know what Diego brings to the team, nothing needs to be said about that. We’re pleased he’s back and we need him if we want to achieve our targets”.

“To be in that position is fantastic because at the start of the season, no-one backed us. But we know this will be tough until the end”.

Chelsea extended their gap at the top of Premier League table today thanks to Diego Costa and their captain Gary Cahill, who both secured a crucial 2-0 win.

The Spaniard broke the deadlock just before the halftime well assisted by Victor Moses, scoring in the extra-time. Ryan Mason‘s head injury in a clash with Cahill caused a nine-minute delay in the first half.

The Blues took some risks during the game, as Hull were tactically well organized and were dangerous in more than one occasion, with Thibaut Courtois making a couple of crucial saves and the Tigers missing three/four goal chances, especially in the beginning of the second half, when they went close to equalise a couple of times.

Anyway, in the most difficult moment of the match, current pitch captain Gary Cahill sealed the win with a perfect header on a Cesc Fabregas‘ freek-kick from the left. It was minute 81 and Chelsea could control the last part of the game.

The Blues still leads the Premier League table and now are 8 points clear of Arsenal, that sit second with 47 points, with 55 points after 22 games.

Next weekend Conte’s boys will face Brentford in the FA Cup and they will come back in action in the Premier League on January 31, when they will visit Liverpool at Anfield.
