Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois wants a career as long as Juventus legend Gianluigi Buffon.

The Belgian star told Standard Sport: “To see Buffon playing to such a level at this age is great. I’m 25 and he is 14 years older than me. Obviously if I can still play at the level he is in 14 years’ time, I will be very satisfied”.

“Obviously I hope nothing happens — injuries can always change the future. But I love football, I enjoy being on the training pitch, in the stadium. I guess I will still feel the same in 10 to 15 years’ time and I hope in that moment I can still produce and be at this level.”

“If you watched Juventus’ win over Barcelona in the Champions League (3-0 on aggregate), the Barcelona players were forcing a lot to score”.

“You felt the ball was never going to go in and maybe that had something to do with his aura. If it was another keeper, maybe they would have shot easier on target and scored”.

“If you’re a great keeper you have that quality. – Courtois ended – I have it in a way already, but Buffon and Iker Casillas still have something special and are a different category of goalkeeper.”

Antonio Conte‘s men booked their place in the FA Cup final at Wembley, where they’ll face Arsenal.

Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois told Standard Sport: “This is an opportunity to go down in history. I don’t think many players have won the Double in England. One trophy is done, now it’s time to get the other.

“The FA Cup was a goal of ours. We have gone for it from the start. It’s been hard with Manchester United in the quarter-final and a massive game against Tottenham in the semi-final.

“Now we have another tough match but we feel confident and we want to end the season in a special way.”

Arsenal beat Chelsea 3-0 at the Emirates Stadium in September: “That game against in September was bad – the Chelsea goalkeeper added – We lost 3-0 that day and we obviously don’t want to lose against them again now”.

“It was a wake-up call that we couldn’t allow what happened the previous year to happen again. We know as a team we are stronger than Arsenal and are confident but we can’t underestimate them or think we will win easily.”

“If we hadn’t lost so badly, maybe we wouldn’t have switched to the back three. – Courtois added – It was partly because of Arsenal and partly because we were not doing well.”

Chelsea legend Frank Lampard spoke ahead of the FA Cup final against Arsenal at Wembley. The former midfielder told Standard Sport: “I think it could be a tight game; Chelsea are favourites on paper and rightly so, but they’ll have to perform on the day to overcome an Arsenal side who have strength in their team.”

Arsenal beat Chelsea in their home game at the Emirates Stadium in September: “I think the way we started the [home] game in the first half was very good Aaron Ramsey said – We won the game in the first half really. We were very quick, we counter-attacked well, closed them down, got about them and everything seemed to come together on that day”.

During today’s press conference to preview FA Cup final against Arsenal Chelsea boss Antonio Conte was asked again about his future plans, and the Italian manager reaffirmed he will stay at Stamford Bridge, despite a huge offer he received from Inter,

“At the moment the situation is very clear, if the club give the possibility to stay here and extend my contract, it’s great for me. We have the same idea, to improve the squad, I am happy for this season, I am happy to stay here, I want to stay here for many years.”

Antonio Conte is concerned for the game that is waiting for Chelsea tomorrow: the Italian tactician reckons Arsenal will fight hard onto the pitch as – after missing all the targets in this season, including the Champions League qualification- the FA Cup will the only way to save this campaign:

“We have to pay great attention in modern football,” Conte said in today’s press conference.

“Honestly I saw a lot of attention, a lot of concentration for my players, we trained very well this week.

“I can stay calm because I trust my players, it’s impossible for me not trusting my players for what they did this season.

“We don’t have to forget this target, it’s a fantastic target and we don’t know if in the future we will have again the chance to win this trophy.

“In this game I think we must think about ourselves, to be very focused on the game and to do what we know, it’s important to do it, this is the most important thing.

“If you start to think players can miss next game, it’s not right, Arsenal got many good players, we need to pay attention.”

Asked if he can imagine his feelings playing a final in Wembley, he replied:

“I had this feeling already in the semifinal against Spurs, to play in Wembley it’s a fantastic experience, if the stadium is full it’s great, tomorrow we have another chance to play there, we have to do our best for our fans. To have all these emotions in my first season here is a fantastic opportunity for me.”

“Maybe we started the season as underdogs, but then we won the league and it was right to enjoy. On the other side we have a team that have lost also champions league spot, they have only this target to save the season, so we must be focused.

“But I trust a lot my players, because they’ve always showed me to have the right concentration. For sure tomorrow it will be a tough game for both team, but we will try to win the trophy.

Earlier this week many young people unfortunately lost their lives in a terroristic attack in Manchester, after kamikaze blew himself up at the entrance of Manchester Arena, while people were leaving after popstar Ariana Grande’s concert.

Asked if he is worried about this situation, with terrorists targeting big events like football games and big gigs, he said:

“Honestly I lived another similar situation when I was with the Italian national team and we were playing in Belgium, when they tried to place a bomb at England v Germany game.
I think this can condition your mind, but you have to go on, you must live with passion, enthusiasm, when there are these situations you are a bit scared, but we must continue to live and face the situation.”

John Terry will play his last game for Chelsea tomorrow, but Conte admitted is unlikely for the Blues captain to start:

“I don’t know, it’s very difficult to answer, for sure John will be with us, for sure will be on the bench, and then we will see what the game requests, it depends on the moment of the game, we will play also to see him lift this trophy. My players have this dream as well, tomorrow anyway will be a tough game.”

Asked again about his future plans, Conte reaffirmed he will stay at Chelsea despite a huge offer he received from Inter:

“At the moment the situation is very clear, if the club give the possibility to stay here and extend my contract, it’s great for me. We have the same idea, to improve the squad, I am happy for this season, I am happy to stay here, I want to stay here for many years.”

Aaron Ramsey spoke ahead of FA Cup final against Chelsea. The Wales international told Arsenal‘s website: “I think the way we started the [home] game in the first half was very good.

“We won the game in the first half really. We were very quick, we counter-attacked well, closed them down, got about them and everything seemed to come together on that day.

Then Ramsey added: “I’m sure something similar will be required to beat them in the final as well.

“It was a different game [away] and we perhaps let individuals have a bit too much space. Hazard went on a bit of a run and put the ball in the net.

“We can’t let that happen again, we have to be right in his face and stop that at source.”

Ajax forward Bertrand Traore has admitted he wants to take part of Antonio Conte‘s squad next season after his successful loan spell in the Eredivisie.

“I will go with the national team and after that take some rest. – the Burkina-Faso star claimed – Then I will go back to Chelsea and have a talk – we will see”.

“That’s my hope, that was the key when I came to Ajax – play as many [games] as I could, do well, and try to go back to Chelsea”.

Then Traore added: “I think I had a great season but I don’t decide to stay at Chelsea or move. I will see what my future will be”.
