Former Blues goalkeeper Asmir Begovic, now at Bournemouth, warns Chelsea over Diego Costa‘s exit:

“These players don’t come around very often, centre forwards who have got everything – pace, right foot, left foot, he can finish each and every way, he can hold the play up,” he told Sky Sports UK.

“He’s got the total package and is someone that Chelsea will miss very much if they lose him.”

“I hope this situation can resolve itself and they can have a good relationship going forward.”

Asmir Begovic will receive a Premier League medal as special dispensation is granted to back-up goalkeepers.

However the Bosnian players thinks he doesn’t deserve this award: “I think the rule should be changed, I don’t know about the whole five appearances”. – Begovic told Sky Sports News – “Having been part of the group all year, we’ve all sacrificed, played our part in the team each and every day. But they really have to look at that rule again because I don’t think five appearances should warrant a medal. It’s the rule for now, thankfully I get one and obviously to have that in your career is great”.

Both Chelsea and Tottenham have injury issues related to their goalkeepers before the Fa Cup semifinal which will be played on Saturday at Wembley.

Chelsea back-up goalkeeper Asmir Begovic is expected to feature in the next FA Cup semi-final against Tottenham due to Thibaut Courtois’ ankle problem.

The Belgian international, who returned to training today, is reportedly struggling to recover from his injury.

Begovic told Standard Sport: “It would be nice to make it fourth time lucky this year. I had no complaints in 2008 because I was very young and was just happy to be in and around the squad. I’d left for Stoke the year Portsmouth got to a second final and then at Stoke it was a time of squad rotation”.

“I was playing in the League games and Sorensen was playing the Cup games. Fair play to him, I had no arguments there. It’s just the way it went. Thomas was a great keeper, did his bit for the team and the club. It’s what the manager decided so hopefully this time around it will be my turn.”

Begovic featured in Chelsea’s starting XI from the third to the fifth FA Cup round this term: “There is a little bit of a history and unfinished business in the competition for me. – he added – But it’s also about helping this team as much as possible”.

“It’s great to play in those kind of games, semi-finals and finals. They are great games to look forward to and I hope to be a part of it. That’s the reason why you play for a club like this.

“It’s important for me to perform in every game and hopefully the manager will trust me to take things forward as well.

“But I will leave it up to the manager. I’m completely buying into the philosophy of the team and us being successful.”

Chelsea goalkeeper Asmit Begovic came back to the Blues’ starting XI yesterday, when he replaced Thibaut Courtois, who suffered an ankle injury ahead of Manchester United clash.

“I think the defeat is down to a combination of things. United were more aggressive, they won second balls and probably wanted it more, – he told the Telegraph – They got a great start and then went on from there. We need to be better going forward. We have a lot of match-winners, it was not just a case of Eden Hazard being man marked and taken out the game”.

Now Tottenham are 2nd with 71 points on Premier League table and put pressure on Chelsea, anyway the Bosnia-Erezegovina star is confident that his side ‘can bounce back’ from the last disappointing defeat at Old Trafford.

“We weren’t at it today but we have a lot of character and can bounce back. – Begovic added – We have a four-point advantage and at the start of the season we would have taken it at this stage. If win our games it doesn’t matter what Spurs do.”
