Chelsea defender Cesar Azpilicueta admitted that his side ‘were expecting to win the game, but went away with zero points”.

The Spaniard told the club’s official website: “So obviously we are disappointed, so we have to learn from this and come back stronger,”

“It is difficult to analyse straight after the game, it is better to have time to do that, with the manager and the staff, and then improve on what we didn’t do well”.

“When you lose you can improve a lot of things but even when we had the 13 games in a row we were analysing and trying to improve. This was a tough night but we have to learn from this and to come back strong.”

Then Azpilicueta added: “We knew it would be tough and it was, but we tried to play our game. Sometimes we were not able to do it and we lost some balls. We conceded the second goal when we were in our best moment in the game and had had two or three chances, and after that it was difficult. Tottenham are a strong team and they showed that and we know that”.

“But we said before when we were winning it is still a long way to go. We have to cope with a lot of difficult games and we have to work harder”.

Chelsea’s manager and players on Wednesday show acts of festive goodwill

Conte and his Chelsea players visit hospitals for Christmas

Chelsea’s manager and players on Wednesday show acts of festive goodwill.
On Wednesday Chelsea Manager ANTONIO CONTE and his CHELSEA FC Players visited the hospitals of both Chelsea and Westminster. As CONTE prepares for his very first Christmas festive holiday fixture on Boxing Day against Bournemouth, he led his players to show their festive acts of goodwill.

Blues players included: David Luis (pictured), Victor Moses, Cesc Fabregas and Cesar Azpilicueta. CHELSEA FC have done annual Christmas visits to the hospitals especially where their young fans are and given out presents. Defender, AZPILICUETA, says that the annual visits to children’s hospitals have importance. He (Azpilicueta) emphasised his love for visiting children in hospital who are unfortunately going to be in hospital for Christmas. On the official club website AZPILICUETA said: ‘I am a parent myself and I know how special this time is. Christmas is normally a very happy time but for these kids and their families it is very difficult so it is nice for us to come here, give them presents and to spend time with them. It is also nice for us to be able to do this and to make people’s day nicer,’

After Christmas celebrations are just about done with, ANTONIO CONTE and his players will then have to wake up bright and early to strive for another 12th straight consecutive win as they take on Bournemouth at home. Stamford Bridge will indeed be full of festive cheer of both young fans and older fans all hoping the suspension of DIEGO COSTA, their key main front-man striker will not be felt at all. CONTE has expressed his positive attitude towards his main striker (Costa) but has also made sure that his team continue to push victoriously.

Chelsea defender David Luiz, when asked about the importance of his teammates in a three-man defense, told the club’s official website: “We have to be more tactical, reflect more, find the right position and call the line up and down,”

“I have the best job in the world and it doesn’t matter which system we play, – the former Paris Saint-Germain star, who came back to Stamford Bridge last summer - You need to do what’s required in your particular role but I want to do my best for the team, not for myself. I have to be alert, to look around and to cover because it’s important for me to have that vision”.

About teammates Cesar Azpilicueta and Gary Cahill: ‘I think Azpi and Gary have more opportunities on the ball than me in this formation but against Leicester I was able to get on the ball a lot. When you play with three in defence you try to play out from the back into midfield so they can create more”.

“I have that side of my personality, to be a leader and to organise. A leader needs to be available to give something for others. I’ve had that in my character since I was young but of course I understand that now there is a responsibility, as somebody who has been here before and played many games, to use the experiences I’ve picked up in my career to help the youngsters.”

About Victor Moses‘ impressive start to the season, David Luiz added: “Mr Conte gives us a lot of information in order for us to understand our role on the pitch and Victor has taken it all in,”

“He’s playing very well and when he gets the ball he’s so strong, he has quality, pace and he can go one against one. He can also defend very well because he has all the attributes, he just needs to get that defensive sense, which he’s learning, because he’s never played in that position before. He’s doing very well and I’m really happy for him because he deserves it, he’s a great guy.”

The 29-year-old started his European career in Lisbon with Benfica, then moved to London and Paris, now Geezer is an ‘englishman’ again.

‘I’m a lucky guy because I’ve lived in Lisbon, Paris and now London again, three great cities, where there’s fantastic entertainment, so much to do here and I’m living close to where I was before”.

“My family will be coming over in December because they are taking care of my charity back in Brazil right now, so they will spend Christmas with me. It will be nice to have my mum, dad, sister and nephews with me, I’ll be very happy. They are my oxygen.”

Fabregas, Azpilicueta and Pedro have been left out of Spain National team, anyway Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is sure that this decision will have positive consequences if they ‘work harder’ during the international break.

“Cesc, Azpi and Pedro are all three important players for Chelsea – Conte told medias - I am pleased for their attitude and commitment, this is important.”

Speaking about their aim to play international football, Conte added: “It can be an opportunity to work harder and to be in the team, in the squad of Spain, this can be an opportunity to work harder, we are talking about three great players.”
