Chelsea manager Antonio Conte believes rotation of his players will crucial during the current campaign as the Blues are facing three different competitions instead of just two.

The Italian manager, speaking ahead of next clash against Newcastle United, confirmed he will rotate Chelsea players once again following the last game against Swansea, in which he made several changes: “In this period it’s very important to have rotation and give rest to all of the players, – said Conte. – I think it was positive because we won the game, it was a good answer from all my players. When the period is so busy it’s a necessity to have this rotation”.

Cesar Azpilicueta, who scored in last night’s Champions League debut for Chelsea, recalled the Blues‘ disappointing start to the season with a home defeat against Burnley in August.

“It was a really disappointing start, the loss against Burnley – he said – It was not expected by anyone, but the reaction of the team was very good. Now we have had three wins in a row, some tough games, and now we have confidence and we will try to keep going”.

Azpilicueta is confident ahead of next Premier League clash against Arsenal: “It’s always special to play against Arsenal, it’s a London derby. It’s true they have lost two games already but we are focused on doing our game in front of our fans at Stamford Bridge.

We know the atmosphere the stadium gets in those type of games and we will try to carry on our winning streak”.

Three players sent off in just two games of the new season are too much, so Cesar Azpilicueta sends a message to all his team-mates ahead of Sunday’s London derby vs Tottenham at Wembley.

“If you see the last season when we were champions, we didn’t get a red card until the FA Cup Final and now we have had one in the Community Shield and against Burnley” – Azpilicueta told Standard Sport – “We know it is difficult 11 against 11 in this League so obviously when you are 10 against 11 it is even harder. When we are down to 10 men it is really difficult so we have to learn from this and hopefully we can do something on Sunday”.

Gary Cahill has been officialy named new Chelsea captain by manager Antonio Conte.

Cahill already wore the armband many times last season and now, with Blues legend John Terry playing for Aston Villa, he has been awarded with the “job” permanently.

“I think that it’s right to continue with Cahill, if he plays, it’s right he’s the captain,” Conte said according to the Evening Standard – “Why? Because he stayed in Chelsea for many years and played a lot of games and showed good characteristics to be this.”

However, Gary Cahill will not be the only leader in Chelsea’s dressing room and on the pitch:  “I think also we can have other captains in our team, it could be Azpilicueta, David Luiz, and also, in the future, it could be Thibaut Courtois, Cesc Fabregas,” Conte continued – ” “I think every single player must improve in this [being big personalities in the dressing room] and understand [they have] to take more responsibility because we lost big players and we need now to find these new players to create this fundamental for Chelsea. It is very important for our future success to create this base”.
