Chelsea and Manchester United are pondering a summer move to strengthen their midfield as Bayern Munich will sell both Douglas Costa and Renato Sanches, according to reports in The Sun.

It is understood Juventus have an edge for Douglas Costa, while Portuguese 19-year-old Renato Sanches could reportedly leave Carlo Ancelotti‘s team only on a season-long loan.

The Blues are monitoring the situation, with Bayern Munich who have reportedly joined the race to snatch Romelu Lukaku from Chelsea’s hands.

Antonio Conte is looking for a new centre-back to revamp Chelsea defence in next summer transfer window.

The Italian manager targeted Hoffenheim defender Niklas Sule but the German international reveals he rejected Blues offer to join Bayern Munich in the end of this season: Carlo Ancelotti‘s side recently closed the deal for £ 22m.

“Both offers came almost simultaneously,” Sule told to German media TZ.

“Of course it was huge for me that the Premier League leaders showed interest in me.

“But it felt better to stay in the Bundesliga.

“And Bayern are the top address, there is nothing greater in the world.”

Bayern Munich star Arturo Vidal was often linked to Chelsea over the past months, mainly because of the great respect between him and Blues boss Antonio Conte, since the pair have already worked together at Juventus.

Furthermore, the Chilean midfielder is not a regular starter anymore since former Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti took charge at Bayern but, despite this, he dismissed any rumour linking him to the Stamford Bridge side:

“These are just rumours that are emerging quickly,” Vidal told SportBild.

“After all, I played four very successful years under coach Conte at Juventus.

“But there is no reason for me to leave Bayern. I wear this jersey with pride. I feel happy, my wife feels happy, and the children are happy. And I still have big goals in Munich.”

Atletico Madrid star Yannick Ferreira Carrasco‘s agent revealed that Manchester United and Chelsea would have placed a couple of stunning € 86m ( £ 70m) offers for his player.

The news was reported by Spanish media Don Balón.
Christophe Henrotay has also explained that he has notified the Spanish giants of these offers and that there is also interest from Bayern Munich, Juventus and Manchester City.
Carrasco signed a new deal in the Spanish capital last October which included the new buy-out clause with Atleti seemingly resigned to losing him sooner rather than later.

German defender Niklas Sule joined Bayern Munich in January transfer window, in spite of great interest from both Chelsea and Liverpool in Premier League.

Speaking about England, the 21-year-old explained the reason why he decided to stay in Bundesliga: “I had good talks with the bosses at Bayern and Hoffenheim, – Sule told German outlet Sky Deutschland – Ultimately, I opted for Bayern as it’s a once in a lifetime opportunity”.

“I believe I’ll fit in well and can learn a lot from the other central defenders there. A move to England wasn’t yet right.”

LOUIS VAN GAAL MANCHESTER UNITED

Ex Manchester United, Bayern Munich, Ajax and Barcelona manager Louis van Gaal announced his retirement from football after rejecting a four-year-deal with a Chinese Super League side that was offering him £44m for four seasons.

The Dutchman, 65, wants to be close with his family, that is going through a tough moment after one of his daughters lost her husband in the past month, a fact that has weighed heavily on his decision:

“I could go there, but I’m still here: so much has happened in my family,” the ex Red Devils boss claimed.

He said after leaving United that he was interested in coaching again, but that door now seems to have closed.

“I thought maybe I would stop, then I thought it would be a sabbatical, but now I do not think I will return to coaching,” he said.

Van Gaal started his managerial career in 1991, and besides Manchester United in the past two seasons he was in charge also at Ajax, Barcelona and AZ Alkmaar but was also Netherlands national team coach in two occasions: from 2000 to 2002 and from 2012 to 2014.

Van Gaal won 3 Dutch titles, 1 Champions League and 1 Intercontinental Cup with Ajax -1 Dutch title with AZ,  1 Spanish league, 1 Spanish Cup and UEFA Super Cup with Barcelona – 1 German league, 1 German Cup and 1 German Super Cup with Bayern Munich and 1 FA Cup with Manchester United.

He also brought Netherlands to a third place in World Cup 2014 and lost two Champions League finale, one of this against his ex “pupil” José Mourinho, who was his assistant for three years at Barcelona in the late 90’s, in 2009-2010 against Inter in Madrid.

Shocking announcement from a Chelsea rival, Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola.

Speaking to the NBC the ex Barcelona coach announced he is close to end his manager career:

“I will be in Manchester for at least other three years, but I feel the process to end my career has already started.

“I won’t coach until I will be 60-65 years old, I am sure I am getting close to my manager’s career end.”

Will Manchester City and Premier League be the last team coached by the Spanish manager or Pep will change his mind in the next three years?

According to rumours coming from France Chelsea manager Antonio Conte wants to bring PSG star Marco Verratti to Stamford Bridge.

The Italian international doesn’t get along really well with new Paris Saint Germain coach Unai Emery and already expressed his desire to leave the French side.

Anyway, Chelsea wouldn’t be the only team interested in Verratti, as the Italian midfielder is followed also by Juventus, Inter and Bayern Munich.

Ex Blues boss Carlo Ancelotti, anyway, dismissed the rumours about an immediate deal:

“Juve or Bayern for Verratti? I wouldn’t know. Agents are always playing little games to raise the prices,” the Italian coach said to ESPN.

“We are not planning the future yet, there will be time for that. Getting players from a top club like PSG is hard, as you saw with how it went with [Blaise] Matuidi. Juventus have [Miralem] Pjanic anyway so I don’t think they need Verratti. They are different, but I think they can fill the same roles.”

The Liverpool side are trying to challenge Arsenal, Chelsea and Bayern Munich for Napoli centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly.

The Azzurri already rejected a £ 30m offer from the Blues in the past weeks.
