We reported yesterday that Chelsea could face only a quartet of the winners from their Champions League groups, as no side can play another from the same country in the Round of 16. Anyway, Liverpool joined Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester City and Manchester United in the 1st pot for the knockout stage after beating 7-0 Spartak Moscow last night, leaving Chelsea a two-out-of-three chance to play against either Paris Saint-Germain or Barcelona in the next round.
Also Besiktas are included in the possible trio, while La Liga giants Sevilla can’t face the Premier League champions as they are now left in Pot Two for Monday’s draw in Nyon. The Turkish side were stunning in winning their Group and get rid of their opponents Leipzig, Porto and last year’s semi-finalists Monaco, who remain crashed out of the Champions League after getting the 4th place.
Something has changed, all we know for sure is that Chelsea could face a terrific opponent so early in their Champions League return.
Chelsea could face PSG, Barcelona, Sevilla or Besiktas in Champions League
Olympique Marseille, Southampton and Everton are among the teams interested in signing Loic Remy from Chelsea this summer, according to reports in England.
The French forward scored twice as the Blues have beaten London side Fulham in a friendly at Cobham.
Also Besiktas are said to be plotting a summer move to land Remy to the Turkish First Division, but the player would reportedly prefer a move to the Premier League
