Borussia Monchengladbach

There has been a lot speculation involving on-loan Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen and where the player will be next season.

The Danish international is currently at German club Borussia Monchengladbach serving a 2-year loan deal. It has been rumoured that Chelsea wanted to cut the deal short and recall Christensen back to their Stamford Bridge ranks but Monchengladbach want to keep him permanently and would also look for compensation if they did manage to recall him.

Recently, Christensen has removed any rumours that he wants to leave Germany after being quoted in Kicker his excitement of having a fellow Dane potentially join him at Monchengladbach.

“I read in the newspaper about the rumour that he is to come. I think it would be great. Even though he’s a little older than I, we know each other from our youth. And the national team.”

Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Thorgan Hazard has heaped praise on his older brother Eden, claiming him to be one of the best players in the world. Hazard has struggled for form this season but he seemingly never fails to impress his brother.

Thorgan told Marca that he would like the opportunity to play in the same team as his two brothers.

“I hope one day we can all play in the same team, Eden, [Ujpest midfielder] Kylian and I, that would be great. I don’t know if it will be possible at a big club, but maybe at some point in the future.

“Could I play in the same team as Eden again? I do not know which team I could play for, so at the moment it is difficult.  I am not at the same level as Eden, he is one of the best players in the world.

“I have to improve and work hard to play with him but one day I’d love to.

Thorgan looks up to his more established brother Eden and sees him as a role model.

“My idols used to be [Zinedine] Zidane, Thierry Henry and Ronaldinho but now I have more of a role model in my brother Eden. I don’t have idols anymore.”

Chelsea have issued a hands off warning to Barcelona and Bayern Munich who are both said to be interested in the signing of on-loan defender Andreas Christensen.

Christensen is currently at Borussia Monchengladbach on a 2-year loan deal that started last summer. His performances for the Bundesliga side have sparked interest from clubs around Europe and have even tempted Chelsea into cutting the deal short and bringing the 20-year-old back to Stamford Bridge.

However, Chelsea have decided not to recall the Danish international as they believe another year of regular first team football would put him in a position to compete in the Chelsea ranks for the 2017/18 season.

As we reported today from Bild Chelsea were keen to call back defender Andreas Christensen from his loan to Borussia Mönchendgladbach.

But the Blues might be disappointed by the young Danish talent: in fact, rumours from Germany says that he would like to finish his two years loan spell at the Bundesliga side, that means to stay there for another season.

Chelsea are ready to offer Dutch midfielder Nathan Ake – now on loan at Watford- to Gladbach but with no break clause at their disposal, it would need the agreement of Chelsea, Monchengladbach and Christensen to cut the loan deal short and the player is happy to spend another season in Germany.

The Bild report that Chelsea want to bring Andreas Christensen back to Stamford Bridge.

The Danish defender spent two successful seasons on loan to Borussia Mönchengladbach and now the Blues, that need to revamp their squad after this disappointing campaign, think he’s ready to fit in the first team squad.

Christensen got a deal with Chelsea that will expire in 2020.

With over thirty Chelsea players out on loan, who is it worth bringing back in to the first team squad?

Nathan Ake– He has played consistently well for Watford this season, the club really could have done with him when they had problems at left-back, definitely worth having Ake in the first team.

Patrick Bamford– Finally getting some game time on loan at Norwich after a terrible time at Crystal Palace in the first half of the season. Named Championship player of the year last year, huge potential, needs to be given a chance rather then being loaning in players such as Pato and Falcao who have added nothing to the squad.

Dominic Solanke– The young England forward has done very well during his loan spell at Vitesse. At just 18 years-old Solanke has huge potential, scoring 7 goals in just 16 appearances in the Eredivisie.

Charly Musonda– Currently out on loan at La Liga side Real Betis, Musonda is very highly rated at Chelsea. The 19 year old has scored one and assisted one in his 8 appearances since making the move in January.

Andreas Christensen– Currently out on loan at Borussia Monchengladbach, the young Dane has played a few first team games for the Blues most notably away at Liverpool when there was ‘that’ Gerrard slip and Chelsea won 2-0. A big strong defender with a bright future ahead.

Juan Cuadrado– Given just a handful of games after his big money signing in January 2015 he was shipped out on loan just 6 months later. Surely needs to be given a proper chance, he has 4 goals and 5 assists for Juventus and is very highly thought of in Turin- it must be for a good reason. Give him some game time!

Players like Izzy Brown, Lewis Baker and Mo Salah all deserve more game time in the Chelsea squad. This is a huge issue that needs to be addressed by the incoming manager.

Having a look at the players needed and the players that aren’t. And instead of constantly loaning them out, these player need to stay or go.

Chelsea are set to recall Andreas Christensen back from German club Borussia Monchengladbach only 1-year into his 2-year loan deal.

The plans Chelsea have to end the agreement early will come as a massive blow to Monchengladbach as the German side were hoping to keep the defender on a more permanent basis after a talk with Chelsea over the potential transfer.

Christensen has had some great performances in his 31 games for Monchengladbach and this has sparked the interest from Chelsea to recall the player and make him part of their first team plans next season.

Chelsea winger Eden Hazard hasn’t performed his best in this years campaign. He had a poor run of form previous to Christmas and injuries have also hindered his season.

It’s been revealed that Hazard has added pressure this season after making a bet with his two brothers, Thorgan and Kyllian, before the campaign began. So not only does he have the pressure of impressing his new manager and performing for his team-mates and fans, he also has a competition with his brothers to win. Thorgan Hazard, Eden’s younger brother who plays for Borussia Munchengladbach, has been talking to The Set Pieces, telling them that he and his two brothers have a bet on who can score the most goals and get the most assists during the season.

“We have a competition every year also with my other brother who plays in Hungary [Kyllian].

“It’s a simple one, too – the player with the fewest goals and assists at the end of the season buys dinner for the other two brothers.

“I need to score and give assists because I don’t want to pay. For the moment it’s a big competition between us.”

In light of the news that French centre-back Kurt Zouma will be out for 6 months, Chelsea could be looking to recall Andreas Christensen from loan.

Zouma damaged his anterior cruciate ligament in the 1-1 draw with Manchester United at the weekend and the injury will keep Zouma sidelined for at least 6 months whilst he recovers. This leaves Chelsea with minimal defensive cover for the rest of the season.

19-year-old Andreas Christensen is currently out on loan with German club Borussia Monchengladbach.

However, Chelsea could be looking to recall the Danish international despite Monchengladbach making it public that they wish to keep him on a more permanent basis.

Chelsea player Andreas Christensen is currently on loan to German club Borussia Monchengladbach until 2017 after signing a 2-year deal.

It is now understood that Monchengladbach are planning a summer offer to keep the 19-year-old on a permanent basis. Director of the club Max Eberl is keen to keep the centre-back.

“Our intention is to try and get into talks with Chelsea in the summer.

“Andreas fulfils everything we’ve seen in him. And we are delighted that we were able to take him on loan without any ifs and buts.”

Christensen has also said that he’s happy and could be open to extending his current deal in Germany.

“I am very happy.

“I will give it my best in the two years here, and see what the future has in store for me. It’s of no use to return [to Chelsea] if I don’t get any playing time there. A lot can happen.”
