Maurizio Sarri was clearly disappointed after Chelsea defeat at Wolves but the Blues boss didn’t see such a bad performance from his lads:

“I think that we played very well for 55 minutes. After the goal, it was an accident because we were in full control of the match. We were suddenly a different team, I don’t know why. I am really very worried, not for the result but for the fact we didn’t respond to the first goal.

Chelsea complained for a possible not awarded penalty for a foul on Alvaro Morata:

“I don’t know about that. We could have scored four or five goals. We missed them.

Asked if he regrets something in his selection choices, Sarri said:

“If you had asked me the same question after 55 minutes I would say I was happy. We lost everything. It can happen, but I don’t think it. It was without reaction.

Sarri was asked if he is worried for next Saturday’s game against Manchester City after this second defeat in only three games:

“As I said before, City are in another category. They are not in our category. We have to play and to fight to be in the top four I think. The result is very difficult for this. In every match you have to gain points. I lost Serie A with 91 points, so I know every match you have to gain points.

Probably there was a foul in Wolves’ second goal build-up:

“I don’t know, but I think it is more important to talk about our attitude, the first goal. We were not the same team. It was not for me. I have to understand why. Only for a goal. We had to play 35 minutes after that.

Asked if this defeat makes Man City’s clash harder, Sarri replied:

“No. As I said before City are the best in Europe, maybe in the world, they can win the Champions League, but it depends on moments. If you have to play against them for ten months they are the best in the world at the moment. After this match we lost confidence, but maybe it is better. Sometimes my players show me they have too much confidence.”

LONDON, ENGLAND - DECEMBER 02: Claudio Ranieri, Manager of Fulham gives his team instructions during the Premier League match between Chelsea FC and Fulham FC at Stamford Bridge on December 2, 2018 in London, United Kingdom.

Fulham boss Claudio Ranieri has a massive task on his hands if he is to get the West London side out of the Premier League relegation zone, with the Whites currently rock bottom.

But he can take some comfort in his charges performance in the 2-0 defeat against neighbours Chelsea at Stamford Bridge this afternoon.

The ex-Blues boss commented the game after the final whistle:

“I’m satisfied – not with result, of course – but with the way we reacted and played.

“I think we played much better today than against Southampton, and we have to continue in this way.

“The players need to understand my philosophy better because I like to play very fast. Today, we made good decisions in a very short period of time.

“I think it was a good match. At the beginning we gave them a good present when we lost the ball and they scored on the counter attack, but we reacted well.

“I told our players before the match that we can win or lose, but I want us to play with our philosophy.

“We didn’t make enough chances in the first half, but it was much better in the second half. With our two wingers, we created some problems for them and had chances to draw the match.

“In the end, they scored the second goal. I think it was a good match in the second-half, but when Maurizio [Sarri] made some changes and put on [Alvaro] Morata, [Ruben] Loftus-Cheek, it’s not easy. They have quality players – [Eden] Hazard is amazing.”

“I was pleased because in the first half we conceded one goal after a mistake in midfield, but after I decided to change the system and put two wingers who were faster than their defensive line, and we created some chances.

“Now, we think about the next match,” he claimed.

“It’s a congested period but it’s important to improve our fitness, everything, because we’re pressing a lot and playing faster than before. It’s important for us to make a right decision in a very short time.

“It will be difficult in every game this season, but I am very confident in my players.”
