Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has given his players three days off to try to recover from this bad moment of form.

The Blues limped again against Watford last night, losing 4-1, after last week 3-0 humiliation against Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge.

Now, their campaign risks to be really compromised, with Barcelona coming to play at Stamford Bridge in two weeks.

The Italian coach and many of his players have admitted that they are feeling the physical effects of a demanding and at times unfavourable fixture schedule in recent weeks, and this move is intended to give them some much-needed rest with Chelsea not in action again until next Monday, when they host West Bromwich Albion at Stamford Bridge in Premier League.

Chelsea’s players were regularly given as many as two days off after matches last season, thanks largely to the club’s lack of involvement in European competition, but opportunities for extended breaks have been limited this term as the team is playing Champions League, reached League Cup semifinals, who they lost against Arsenal a couple of weeks ago, and had to play an FA Cup replay match against Norwich to process to fourth round.

A real humiliation for Chelsea tonight, with a heavy defeat against Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge.

In fact, the Cherries won 3-0 with goals by Wilson, Stanislas and former Chelsea defender and academy player Nathan Ake, all scored in the space of fifteen minutes in the beginning of the first half.

A deserved and vital win for Bournemouth, who take their unbeaten Premier League run to six games.

After a goalless first half, Callum Wilson (51′) swept home the opener before Junior Stanislas (64′) poked home the second.

Three minutes later, former Chelsea defender Nathan Ake (67′) sealed the victory for the Cherries.

A nightmare night for Antonio Conte’s side, who also lost Andreas Christensen for a hamstring injury at 28′: the Danish defender was replaced by Antonio Rudiger.

Manchester City are killing the Premier League this season: Pep Guardiola‘s side trash Bournemouth 4-0 in this 19 fixture and collect their 16 win in a row – a record for the Premier League – with 90 goals scored in only 19 games.

The Citizens won with goals by Sergio Aguero ( brace) Raheem Sterling and Danilo and now are topping the table with 55 points, 14 more than Manchester United ( who sit second) that have to face Leicester City tonight and have the chance to reduce the gap to 11 points, should they win.

Chelsea remain third in the table with 39 points, but after today’s draw at Everton the chances to be back in the title race are really reduced to the minimum.

Despite 8 shots on target, Chelsea didn’t score today at Goodison Park vs Everton.

Altough Morata was suspended, striker Michy Batshuayi wasn’t included in the starting XI by Antonio Conte and now the Blues manager explains why he decided to begin the game with Pedro, Hazard and Willian:

I think at this moment it is the best option for us. I have to make the best decision for the team”. – Conte said – Pedro, Hazard and Willian are in good form and I’m trying to continue in this way, especially because Morata is out. Batshuayi played the game against Bournemouth and is coming back from injury. [And] I think this is the best solution for us in this moment.”

Alvaro Morata will miss Everton clash after being booked in the celebration of his winner against Bournemouth the other night.

The Italian tactician showed a clear disappointment for missing the Spanish striker in tomorrow afternoon match against the Toffees:

“It is a big loss of us, but it happened and it is okay. At that moment we were enjoying the goal and I did not see the situation but I knew he tried to celebrate the goal with the ball under the shirt. It is a pity but we have to accept the decision and at the same time try in the future to pay great attention [to this].

“It is very important to see what happened because if the ref only booked him because he put the ball under his shirt, it is a pity and you can allow this celebration as you are showing your joy, but if something different happened after this then the ref judged it in a different way,” Conte concluded.

Chelsea youngster Ethan Ampadu impressed again in his third start of the season with the first team in the Carabao Cup.

The Welsh kid held the midfield in tonight’s clash against Bournemouth and shared his satisfaction, also for reaching the competition semifinals, after the final whistle:

“I am really satisfied of my game, I tried to do my football,” Ampadu said on tv.

“I am obviously happy Conte trusted me again, I had to repay him.

Gary Cahill helped me a lot during the game, but he was not the only one, and his help was really important.

“It was a great journey until the semifinals, I didn’t expect my involvement in the first team so soon.

“All my mates teach me something new every day, it’s something special for me.

“Of course I hope to play the final.”

Alvaro Morata is the hero of tonight win over Bournemouth in the Carabao Cup: the Spaniard scores a last gasp winner and gives Chelsea the access to the EFL Cup semifinals.

The Blues took an early lead with Willian, who scored the opener at 13′ assisted by Cesc Fabregas and controlled the game in the first part but Bournemouth were more dangerous in the second half, where Antonio Conte‘s side created no chances before Morata’s goal, and eventually found the well-deserved equaliser with Dan Gosling at 90’.

But the Spanish striker, who replaced Michy Batshuayi 17 minutes earlier, found the net and the winner only one minute later, avoiding the extra time and the penalty shoot-outs for Chelsea, who will now find Arsenal, Manchester City or Bristol City ( who just knocked Manchester United out with another last gasp winner) in the semifinals.

Chelsea managed to reduce the gap to Tottenham after the Spurs lost against Manchester United on Saturday at Old Trafford:The season is long, you never know what is going to happen, – said Hazard – They are top of the league and play well, they score a lot of goals but you never know – injury, bad form – so we will see. We want to be at the top of the league at the end of the season, we have a lot of games to play so we will see at the end”.
