“He was my older brother at the club and it was a pleasure to play with him. I wish him all the best for the rest of his career.

“He has gone to a big club in Russia and is still captain in the national team, so we will still get to play together. But it was a pleasure to train and have him as a team-mate at Chelsea.”

Pulis attended at FA Cup clash against Brentford last week to watch three Chelsea players, as confirmed by the Baggies’ manager himself: “I was at Chelsea to look at players Brentford had mentioned to me. I was also looking at Chelsea’s young players, Chalobah, Loftus-Cheek and Zouma”.

“The main reason you want to bring players in to add, is to bring players in that will raise the standard.

“The ambitious players within the group want to do that or else they could get complacent.”

Tomorrow night’s clash at Anfield comes in very strage moment of the season, since it will be played in the last hours of this January transfer window.

Branislav Ivanovic and Asmir Begovic are in negotiation with other teams and have a chance to leave Chelsea before Liverpool’s match asked if they will be selected for the game against Reds,  Conte replied:

“Until now yes, after the training session I will decide for this.”

Asked if Ivanovic already took a decision on his future, he said:

“I spoke to him about this decision, he’s in talkings with other clubs but until now we don’t know anything and we have to wait.

“He gave a lot to Chelsea, we have to see if he’s able to play for many years, at those levels, if you are not playing a lot you can decide to make the decision to go for another team.

“When you start the season and you start to train with a group of players, you create a bond, so you are sorry to see them go, the same was for Oscar and Mikel, so we have to prepare for the situation.”

When asked about Begovic’s situation, Conte replied:

“Until now I haven’t news about Asmir, he wants to go to play every game, but he knows our situation really well, if we are able to find a good replacement he goes, otherwise he stays with us to fight with the team, to fight in the title race.

“I’ve been in football for many years and I am used to this kind of situations for players and managers, if I can help my players to be happy I am glad, but I have also to be sure the situation don’t penalise the team.

Asked how it feels to play such an important game during the last hours of the transfer window, Conte said:

“Tomorrow at 11 pm this transfer window shuts down, it’s very strange that it finishes after our game, it’s very strange.

Chelsea are going to face a tough game at Anfield tomorrow night, and this clash against Liverpool comes in a very strage moment of the season, since it will be played in the last hours of this January transfer window.

Branislav Ivanovic and Asmir Begovic are in negotiation with other teams and have a chance to leave the Blues before tomorrow night, asked if they will be selected for the Anfield clash, Conte replied:

“Until now yes, after the training session I will decide for this.”

“When you start the season and you start to train with a group of players, you create a bond, so you are sorry to see them go, the same was for Oscar and Mikel, so we have to prepare for the situation.”

When asked about Begovic’s situation, Conte replied:

“I’ve been in football for many years and I am used to this kind of situations for players and managers, if I can help my players to be happy I am glad, but I have also to be sure the situation don’t penalise the team.

Asked how it feels to play such an important game during the last hours of the transfer window, Conte said:

“Tomorrow at 11 pm this transfer window shuts down, it’s very strange that it finishes after our game, it’s very strange.

“This week we face two great opponents, tomorrow it will be tough, because they [Liverpool] come from three defeats, they are a really good team, for sure they will be fighting in the title race and for a place in Champions League. Tomorrow’s result is important, but the league doens’t end after these two games.

Chelsea lost two games in a row back in September, with Liverpool and Arsenal, but after those defeats Conte was able to find the key and the Blues won 13 games in a row, becoming the undisputed Premier League leaders:

“I think we are a different team from the September’s game, not Liverpool, we improved a lot. We became a team after the match with them and Arsenal, we improved our confidence and identity a lot. It’s incredible because it’s not easy to have that kind of defeats and then become a team like the one we became.

Liverpool had a terrible week, with three defeats in a row at Anfield: the first one against the team that was sitting in the bottom of the table, Swansea, then they couldn’t reach EFL Cup Final due to their defeat with Southampton in the semifinal second leg and, eventually, they were knocked out from the FA Cup by Wolverhampton – a Championship side- on Saturday afternoon.

A very tough week, that will give the Reds lots of will of redemption:

“It’s very difficult to explain their latest results,” the Italian manager said.

“It’s a really tough test against a tough team, for me they are a good team, with a good coach, they will fight for the title.

“Is their title race over if they lose? After this game there are 15 games, so there are a lot of points, for sure it would be a hard hit mentally [if they lose].  There are 45 points after this game, so this [match] doesn’t decide the season.

Arsenal’s derby is next game after Anfield, two really difficult clashes in four days that can influence Chelsea season a lot:

“I hope to keep the same position after these two games, tomorrow it’s important for us to get continuity and get a good result, it’s important for us to have continuity and get three points, for sure it’s not easy.”

Asked if Chelsea have to prove something against top teams, since they collected three defeats with Liverpool, Arsenal and Tottenham, Antonio said:

“It’s always important to win this kind of games because when you face a top level team it’s important to win also for the confidence, the difficulty is high when you face this kind of opponents.

“I guess that against Spurs the game was balanced, we didn’t approach it with a defensive tactica, I want to make the team more adapt to this kind of game, Liverpool and Chelsea have both to give 110% to win this kind of game.

“Also Liverpool have an identity, they play with 433 there are teams that prefer to change their system but I think when you change too much you can lose your identity, when you adopt a system, you find more time to improve your system, you can find solutions every day.

“Injuries? Until now no, after the training session I can reply to this question.”

Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic came off the bench to score in the Blues’ FA Cup clash against Brentford

The Serbian star has been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge recently, with Zenit St Petersburg and West Bromwich Albion reportedly interested in the 32-year-old.

Conte, who had already given his point o view about this situation, added:“First of all, I’m pleased for Iva. He scored a goal and that is always a great joy for a player.”

“In this situation it’s important to evaluate a lot of things, above all for the player. He hasn’t played a lot for us this season”.

“I know when a player has the habit to play every game and it happens that you’re not playing regularly, it’s not easy to accept this decision”.

“Iva knows the situation well. I’m pleased if he remains here with us, but in this situation the player must make the best decision for him and his family”.

Then the Italian manager ended: “I’m ready to accept any decision. He deserves great respect for his career at Chelsea. He has played a lot of games, he has won a lot, and we have to respect his decision”.

Speaking of Blues legend Branislav Ivanovic, that today scored the third of four goal and that is considering offers from a couple of clubs, he said:

“Ivanovic is a legend here. He has played a lot of games and won a lot.

“In this season he is not playing in the same way as the last few years.

“We must wait over these next three days and we will see. It is the same for Asmir [Begovic].

“He is important for us. In his position we need to find the right substitution, otherwise he is happy to stay with us.”

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte spoke ahead of the FA Cup clash against Brentford today and, first of all, he assured everyone about Gary Cahill’s conditions after the terrible clash with Ryan Mason in last weekend’s game against Hull City:

” Cahill is fine, he has trained with us since Tuesday, he doesn’t have any problem, he never had, because he hit his forehead, he’s also mentally fine. I am sorry for whay happened to Mason and I wish him and his family the best and I hope to see him soon on the pitch.

Celtic goalkeeper Ryan Gordon was linked to Chelsea as a possible substitute of Asmir Begovic, who could move to Bournemouth before the end of this transfer window:

“I don’t know about many names I read, for sure there is this situation about Begovic and Bournemouth, but he is an important player for us, also in the chaning room, I like his commitment, if we get a player to substitute him he can go, otherwise he can stay here.

Rumours today suggesteted that Branislav Ivanovic is close to leave Chelsea after nine years, with offers from WBA and Zenit St Petersburg:

“I don’t know about his chances to leave, there are a lot of speculations, a lot of lies, but also there is some truth in some situations, there are four days to finish this window, and then we will see this situation.

Continuing to speak about the transfer window, Conte said:

“I don’t know what will happen before the end of this transfer window, if we stay with these players I am very happy as well.

“I think we have to improve our squad with the number of players, because in some roles we don’t have many.

“I don’t reveal what know about the transfer window because it seems you know more than me [he jokes] but anyway, I repeat that if some players are coming it’s to improve the squad, and I will have confidence in them, but if no one comes I am happy as well.”

Asked if he will play the FA Cup game with the Anfield clash against Liverpool in his mind, he said:

“It’s a good opportunity to see players that are not playing very much, tomorrow it’s an opportunity for us and for me, we want to win, we want to go to next round, I try to make the best decisions for our team tomorrow.

“I think we have to see game by game, last game, if we lose we have just the league to play, so it’s really impotant for us to go through. I will start to think about Liverpool after this game.

“Begovic will play tomorrow? Yes, he starts, he is a Chelsea player and people have to understand this,  and for me he stays.

“I understand why he [Begovic] has to leave, but also the players have to understand me and the club. We are open to help him, if there are the conditions he will leave, otherwise, this is the situation.”

The Italian gaffer was asked if Nathan Ake will have a chance tomorrow, and in which position will he play, in case:

“He’s got the possibility to play in different positions, for me, he’s got the chance to show me how much he improved.”

Also Kenedy and Musonda came back after ending their loan spells:

“Kenedy and Musonda are young players, with a good prospect , if we take this decision to stay here, I think the players will be very happy.

ChelseaNews24 asked Conte if the youngsters tha have been with him since the start of the season will stay or will go on loan and if they got a chance to play tomorrow:

“Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Chalobah will stay for sure, Ola Aina maybe goes on loan, tomorrow we won’t see them.

The boss also said that there are no injury concerns for tomorrow’s clash.

And speaking about players that didn’t have much playing time, he said:

“Batshuayi got a chance to show me that he is improving tomorrow.”

Conte also explained why he wants to go through in the FA Cup:

“To have another competition besides the league is very important for us, we don’t play the Champions League this year, it’s good to play more competitions to keep motivation high. This is the oldest competition in the world and for me it’s an important trophy to try to win, you know better than me that anything can happen in the FA Cup, especually if you don’t go with the right concentration, the right focus, tomorrow it’s a tricky game and we must go to win to go through the next round.”
