Belgium booked a place into the World Cup semi-finals after beating Brazil in Kazan Arena tonight. An own-goal from Fernandinho and Kevin De Bruyne’s stunning strike gave a double lead after 30 minutes.
Substitute Renato Augusto scored with a header with 15 minutes left to go. Chelsea’s goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois denied a certain goal with a world class one-handed save on Neymar in the extra-time.
Eden Hazard went close to scoring in the second half, well assisted by former Blues’ Kevin De Bruyne.
Meanwhile, Chelsea winger Willian was replaced with Roberto Firmino following a poor performance in the first half. Brazil are out of the World Cup, while Belgium will face N’Golo Kante and Olivier Giroud in the semi-final which takes place on Tuesday night.
