First reactions from Chelsea boss Antonio Conte after the important win at King Power Stadium this afternoon.

The Italian manager looked, of course, very pleased after beating Leicester City 2-1 away:

“We must be delighted because we had a good performance,” said Conte.

“We played very well. We were in total control and could have scored more goals.”

Jamie Vardy scored for the Foxes on penalty with 30 minutes to go, putting pressure on Chelsea in the last part of the game:

“After the penalty it changed the situation.

“They tried to push but despite this we had chances to improve the score. It is a good result and a good performance.

“After the international break it is not easy.

“I am happy for N’Golo Kante. He performed very well but this is not news,” Conte said about the French midfielder, who scored the winner.

Chelsea are level on points with Manchester United (with one game in hand against Stoke City) after beating Leicester City in a tough clash at King Power Stadium.

Alvaro Morata (fine header from Azpilicueta’s cross) and N’Golo Kante (low shot from 30 yards) both scored before Chelsea’s goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, who had previously denied a certain goal from Slimani, caused a penalty due to a late challenge on Leicester’s Jamie Vardy. The England star converted the penalty into a goal.

Then Antonio Conte sent on Willian, Zappacosta and Hazard for Fabregas, Moses and Pedro. Zappacosta’s low left-footed effort from a close range went wide, while Willian went close to scoring twice in the second half, as well as Alvaro Morata. Chelsea players protested for an alleged handball of MGuire.

The Blues struggled to keep their lead but got three vital points in the race for Premier League title.

Chelsea are in front against Leicester City after 45′ at King Power Stadium thanks to Alvaro Morata‘s fine header with 5’ left to go. The Spaniard, who went close to scoring twice, met the ball with a header from Cesar Azpilicueta‘s cross.

The hosts also had some clear chances to score in a vivid first half with Jamie Vardy and Mahrez, while Algerian striker Slimani was denied by Thibaut Courtois.

Cesc Fabregas, N’Golo Kante and Tiemoue Bakayoko are dominating the clash in midfield, which means that the 3-5-2 system is working so far. 45′ minutes to go, teams are out on the pitch again.

Following Antonio Conte‘s positive words regarding Chelsea latest signing Davide Zappacosta, also defender Antonio Rudiger was full of praise when asked about the wing-back’s characteristics.

“Davide is a good player, he is fast with very good crosses. – Rudiger said – He is an Italian international player and maybe some people don’t know him because not everyone follows the Italian league, but for me he is a very good wing-back and he can be very important for this team”.

He added: “We as players, we have to support him to make him adapt easier to this kind of game and this country because for him it is different, but he speaks the language and that is one of the important things. I think also the coaches will help him a lot.’

Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger has confirmed he’s well settled in the West London side after joining the club from AS Roma this summer.

“For me it was important to adapt to the new place, to the new club, to the new country, – Rudiger said – and I have to say thank you to the guys and to the staff as they helped me a lot”.

“To adapt it has been good to play games. Of course I came here because I want to play and I want to develop myself, and sometimes in life it is like this, someone gets suspended or injured.

It is not that I wish that for my team-mates of course, but sometimes football works like this and then I have the chance to show myself very quickly in this team”.

The German defender, who played both Community Shield against Arsenal and Premier League games against Burnley, Tottenham and Everton, added: “I think it was positive for me and I would like to continue like this but it always depends on my effort in the training, and also in the games, and the coach decides”.

“I think Danny is a really good player,”  Chelsea manager Antonio Conte said speaking ahead of next clash against Leicester City at King Power Stadium

“Two years ago together with N’Golo they won the league, they played regularly and showed how strong they were”.

Danny Drinkwater joined Chelsea on Deadline Day from the Foxes, who failed to complete the signing of his replacement in midfield Adrien Silva.

Quizzed again on where the England international midfielder could play, Conte added: “Danny is a strong player who can help us. The midfield is very important. I need midfielders with particular characteristics which he has. Now he must find his best physical condition to be ready to help us”.

Diego Costa and Chelsea are going into a little “war”: Antonio Conte and a club spokesperson were reluctant to speak about him during a press conference held at Cobham training ground ahead of Leicester City clash.

The Spanish striker has been AWOL for weeks and he’s still on his summer break in Brazil: according to some rumours Chelsea cleared his locker in the first team locker room and moved his car in the academy parking.

Costa was on the brink to move to Fenerbahce in the past days, as we reported in an exclusive report, and when everything was done, he raised his wages request again letting the deal to be called off because of his insane demands.

Rumours claim also that Chelsea are upset with him for rejecting other loan offers for the next four months, while he waits for Atletico Madrid‘s move to return to Diego Simeone‘s side, when the Spanish giants’ transfers ban will end.

But the Blues now can decide to keep him – out of first team squad- despite his will to move back to Spain, with a deal still on until June 2019.

During today’s press conference Conte claimed he knew anything about the Brazialian-born forward:

“I don’t know anything about him, I don’t follow Turkish League,” the Italian boss said.

“Is it frustrating to face situations like this?As a coach and a manager you have to be prepared to face every situation, every [top club] manager has a great experience to face all different situations.”

When the journalists insisted to understand the Spanish forward situation, a Chelsea spokesperson added: “There is nothing to report about Diego.”
