Chelsea technical director Michael Emenalo told the club’s official website: “It is fantastic Kurt has chosen to commit his future to Chelsea. He has shown his talent since joining us three years ago, and has returned from a serious injury with a fantastic attitude”.

“Now he has the opportunity to play regularly in the Premier League and we will be monitoring his progress closely while he is at Stoke”.

Chelsea will face Arsenal at Wembley for the Community Shield on Sunday, August 6th at Wembley.

However, before that game, which is worth the first trophy of the new season, the two London clubs will play a friendly tomorrow in China.

According to the Gunners’ manager Arsene Wenger the game will not really be a friendly: “It’s a friendly against Chelsea and that means it is not really a friendly,” – Wenger said. – “There’s always some pride at stake and London desire. It was an interesting game in the FA Cup final. We play Chelsea in Community Shield and early in the season again. We know each other very well. It’s difficult to know how prepared Chelsea will be, it is another test for us.”

The Italian manager, speaking at a press conference in Beijing ahead of Arsenal friendly, claimed: “I don’t to like to talk about players that don’t stay here”.

“Generally the Costa situation for him was clear for him and his agent, for me the situation is closed” Conte added.

Former Chelsea goalkeeper Mark Bosnich claims Alvaro Morata‘s lack of experience in Premier League is a worry for the Blues.

The Spanish striker is coming to replace another Spain internation, Diego Costa, who did very well at Chelsea but fell out with manager Antonio Conte in the end of the past season:

Diego Costa, for whatever his right or wrongs, he’s done the business at Chelsea. He’s had great success there,” Bosnich said on talkSPORT.

“Morata is obviously a quality player, you don’t go to Real Madrid and Juventus unless you have quality.

“But it’s always a worry when you sign a player who hasn’t played in the Premier League.”

Chelsea midifielder N’Golo Kante revealed how Antonio Conte is motivating the team in the beginning of this new season with the Blues.

The Italian boss doesn’t want his guys to let down their guard after winning the title last May: Conte wants to avoid a disastrous campaign beginning like it happened two years ago, when the team relaxed after winning the Premier League under José Mourinho and had a nightmare start that led them to sink until the relegation zone, a fact that led to the sacking of the Portuguese manager. Chelsea were not able to improve very much under Guus Hiddink and finished sitting 10th in the table, the worst result in the Abramovich era.

“He [Conte] has been speaking about working hard to get in a winning mentality quickly,” Kante told the London Evening Standard.

“We start a new chapter for Chelsea and a new chapter in our careers for everyone. We need to start to work to get our energy for the season.

“He didn’t speak about what we did last season and winning the league, he just spoke about working hard to be ready for the season coming up.”

Alvaro Morata will probably wear shirt number 9, that is a cursed number at Chelsea.

Number 9 has been vacant since Radamel Falcao left the club last summer, having failed to meet expectations at Stamford Bridge while on loan from AS Monaco.

This shirt has been cursed for the last 15 years, since Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink wore it with distinction between 2000 and 2004.

Since then Mateja Kezman, Hernan Crespo, Khalid Boulahrouz, Steve Sidwell, Franco Di Santo and Fernando Torres have all struggled under its weight.

Morata is wearing  number 7 with Spain, but N’Golo Kante currently has that in possession at Chelsea.

Number 21, the one Morata had at Real Madrid, could be available since Nemanja Matic is set to leave this summer ( he didn’t even travel to Asia for the pre-season tour) but also the choice of shirt number 9 makes sense.

New Chelsea signing Alvaro Morata will join the first team squad in Singapore.

The Spanish striker arrived this morning at Heatrow: he’s is going to finalize his move to the West London club in the next hours, after a medical and the signing of all the papers.

It’s too late to get him a visa for China, where Chelsea are training in these days ahead of Arsenal friendly clash in Bejing next Saturday, so he will travel to Singapore in the weekend, where he will find Antonio Conte and his new team-mates to welcome him in the beginning of this new professional adventure.
