Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante, who has been named PFA Premier League Player of the Year, told reporters after lifting the trophy: “To be chosen by the players to be player of the year means a lot to me.

“It means the world to be chosen and it’s been two beautiful seasons, one with Leicester, and we are in good form with Chelsea. To be player of the year, it’s a great honour.”

Chelsea completed the signing of the Frenchman from Leicester City for a fee esteemed around £32m last summer and Kante is showing outstanding performances so far.

 “It’s a different type of playing, – he admitted – But with the manager, with the players, everything is easy, because we work a lot to be good in the games. It’s working very well.”

About Conte, Kante added: “He knows what he wants from the players.

“He wants to win, and we work very, very, very hard in training for him. He put a winning mentality into the squad, and everyone wants to give their best for the team, and to make Chelsea win titles.”

N’Golo Kante has won the PFA Player of the Year award.

The Chelsea midfielder was votes has the best Premier League player in this season by the player of the league.

“It means the world to me,’ the French player said when receiving the prize.

“To be chosen as the Player of the Year is a great honour.”


Then he added:

“It’s good to still be in two competitions.

“We are going to fight for both and give our best to win these two competitions.”

Kante was also named in the PFA Team of the Year along with team-mates David Luiz, Gary Cahill and Eden Hazard.

Tottenham striker Harry Kane has admitted his side did and will do everything to win and lift the Premier League trophy for Ugo Ehiogu, who tragically passed away two days ago.

“Of course, we’ll do everything we can to win the league for him. – Kane said after the FA Cup semifinal against Chelsea – Of course the last couple of days have been tough. Ugo was a great character around the training ground, and it was just shocking news”.

“But that is no excuse for what happened against Chelsea, as we still had a job to do. I thought we did very well and probably deserved more but when you play the big teams on the big stage you need those big moments to go your way they didn’t”.

“We wanted to win for him and for ourselves as well. There are still six tough games left in the Premier League and we can’t control what Chelsea do now” Kane added.

The England international ended: “We just have to win as many as we can and it starts Wednesday with a tough game away at Palace.”

Arsenal beat Manchester City in the extra time thanks to Alexis Sanchez golden touch and are through to the FA Cup final, where they will face Chelsea.

The Gunners completed a great comeback following the opener scored by Sergio Aguero in second half at Wembley.

Then Nacho Monreal found the level before Alexis Sanchez gave Arsene Wenger‘s side the lead after 100’. Yaya Toure went close to scoring hitting the post, a few minutes before Fernandinho missed a clear chance with an effort smashed off the corssbar.

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte clarified how important is FA Cup for the Blues, despite Eden Hazard and Diego Costa both started from the bench against Tottenham Hotspur in the semifinal at Wembley.

The Italian manager has pointed out the importance of playing different players during the season, especially in the last month of campaign. “When you arrive in this part of the season, – Conte said – When you know you are to play three tough games. One in the semi-final to reach the final in a top game. This game was top in our priority. Then you have to play again on Tuesday,’ he explained afterwards”.

‘It’s important for the league against a team that has to rest ten days. Tottenham have one more day to rest. They play the day after against Palace”.

Then Conte added: “You must take a strong decision and take the responsibility to take this decision. It’s not easy to decide to start the game without two important players”.

“You must take this responsibility and involve the players in your plan and to operate with this decision is good.”

Nemanja Matic put his thoughts on his last stunning goal which secured Chelsea a 4-2 win against Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley. “It is great when you have the chance to play in this stadium, – the Serbia international claimed – It is amazing and for our supporters you can see it is something special, and we will have the chance to win this trophy which is very important. It is something special for every club in England and I am very happy I will have the opportunity to play”.

“I think this win is going to give us more confidence of course, it is always good when you win a game, but the next game we have on Tuesday so we have to recover very quick to be ready for that, so the next game for me is the most important in the season”.

The one in the FA Cup Semifinal was Matic’s first goal of the season, a stunning strike from outside the penalty area:I am happy for my goal, it was a nice goal. I am very happy for the team because we are going to play a final” he added.

“This game was so hard against a very good team. Spurs to the end they didn’t give up, they are a great team and that is why we are happy”.

Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic scored a stunning goal which sealed a 4-2 win in the FA Cup Semifinal against Tottenham Hotspur last evening.

His teammate Kurt Zouma had a funny reaction while celebrating the Serbia international’s goal, with only 5 minutes left to go.

“I thought then that it was a goal, – Matic himself told Chelsea’s official website – But the most important is that we win the game. But I am happy for my goal, it was a nice goal”.

Chelsea star Eden Hazard came off the bench in the FA Cup Semifinal against Tottenham, when the Blues’ reached the final with a 4-2 win at Wembley.

Hazard, who scored a crucial goal before Nemanja Matic secured Antonio Conte’s men the victory, told the club’s official website: “It’s a good feeling, especially when you play in this stadium with two great teams”.

“We lost in the league against them so we needed revenge for us, for the fans and we did well. It is always good to score a goal as well”.

“When you play in this kind of game you have something exciting inside you and you want to shine. We did shine, Nemanja scored a fantastic goal also and all Chelsea fans are really happy so life is good”.

Then Hazard added: “This win maybe gives us more confidence for the rest of the season, we have six games to play in the league and we need to win five if Tottenham win all of theirs, so we will see”.

“We lost last weekend against a great team and for the rest of the season, it is always good to have the confidence up. Now we play on Tuesday and we need to win to go seven points clear at the top of the league”.

When asked about Conte’s decision to start the game with Willian and Batshuayi instead of the Belgian star and Diego Costa, he said:  “It is the choice of the manager, he told me and Diego on Friday, because on Tuesday we play such an important game. We have a lot of players in the squad, and the players who started deserved to play this game”.


Brazilian teammate Willian was outstanding as he scored twice helping Chelsea in a frenetic first half. “Willy played in my position and scored two goals. – Hazard ended – When I am on the bench and I go on the pitch my feelings are always the same. I try to win games, to create some chances and score some goals and I did today.”

Antonio Conte explained his game plan against Tottenham, where he left Eden Hazard and Diego Costa on the bench at the beginning and then used them to close the game in the last twenty minutes:

“It’s not easy, for sure, to start the game without two really important players: Hazard and Diego,”the Italian coach said after the win over Spurs.

“You must take the responsibility and involve the players in your plan and take this risk.

“Our plan was this. I tried also to tell my player to stay in the game because if we pass more time it’s better for us.

“So I decided in the last 30 minutes to bring on Eden and Diego and then Cesc. Let’s not forget Cesc, he was very important for us.”

Despite losing 4-2 to Chelsea in today’s FA Cup semifinal Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino is proud of the display of his team at Wembley:

4-2 looks like a big result for Chelsea but it’s a game I feel proud of,” he said after the game.

“We gave all that we had. It’s true we lost but it’s the way we wanted to play.

“We respected our philosophy. The team showed great personality and character.

“If you see the game without emotion you will see that Tottenham played much better but they were clinical.

“We are disappointed but now we move on and try to be calm.

“We forced them to play deeper and play the counter attack.

“Congratulations to them and we will try to fight for the Premier League.”
