Speaking about Diego Costa‘s situation BBC Match of the Day pundit Ian Wright said:

“For Costa to come out at this stage when they need him so much feels very strange. He’s scored 14 goals this season – you need someone like that in this team. It seems like it’s derailed what’s going on.”

The Arsenal legend would not be surprised should Costa move to China after an alleged monster offer from Tianjin Quanjian ( £ 30m per year):

“Absolutely not. Costa doesn’t seem like the sort of person who cares what people think. Whatever happens – if it’s his back it’s very hard to detect – something has turned him.”

Asked about Diego Costa’s return after the striker apparently suffered a lower back injury in the past week Chelsea boss Antonio Conte said he is unsure on the timing the Spaniard will be back:

“I don’t know how long it will take, I don’t have his pain,” the Italian manager said after the win over Leicester City.

“We’ll see about this next week.”

Antonio Conte gave his point of view following Chelsea‘s last 3-0 win against Leicester today.

The Italian manager, speaking at press conference, said: “Now, we started the second part of the season, we played the second game. Every game now the points are very heavy for all the teams. We stay on the top of the table and if you win you put pressure on the other teams”.

“We started this game with great pressure after the Tottenham and Arsenal victories. We must show good experience to manage this situation. In every game it will be very important to not lose points”.

Diego Costa was rumored to be on the verge of joining Chinese Super League in January, but Conte is not worried about that: “I can’t be concerned about this today. Today my players showed me a great performance, great spirit and this is very important”.

“When you are able to win this type of game, a tough game against the champions from last year, when you win 3-0 away to Leicester it means I can’t be concerned about anything”.

“I must be pleased to work with these players and for sure I want to continue to work with all my players”.

Chelsea played without a lone striker today as the Blues’ attacking trio was formed by Willian-Pedro-Hazard: “It’s important to have another plan in your mind – Conte stated – To play without a number nine is another solution. We showed against Bournemouth and today, we played without a number nine and won 3-0, 3-0″.

“It’s important to always play as a team and to have different solutions is important for me and the team. Sometimes to change your plan is important”.

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte told BT Sport that his side showed ‘a good performance’ against Premier League champions Leicester City‘because it’s not easy to come here and play against the champions, and to win in this way’.

“I’m very pleased with the effort of my players because today we showed a great spirit and all the players tried to help each other, with the ball, without the ball”.

Then Conte added: “And I’m very pleased because after the defeat against Tottenham, we started in the right way.”

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte spoke after his side’s 0-3 away win against Leicester City this evening.

The Italian manager, when asked about a possible altercation between him and the Spaniard, told BT Sport: “I think before the game I told the truth. I repeat – the truth. Because I like to tell the truth and not lie: Diego stopped his training on Tuesday because he felt a pain in his back and from that moment he didn’t train during the week”.

“Has there been a bust-up? No. I don’t know about this because, I repeat, it’s the truth. It is what I told you before. We see in the next week”.

It has been reported Diego Costa has been offered a huge amount in wages from a Chinese Super League side, anyway Antonio Conte is not scared about that: “Is there an offer from China? The club haven’t told me about this. We don’t know anything about this”.

“Will I talk to Diego? I think that – you said if there are problems – I prefer to solve my problems with Diego in private. If, I repeat it, there are problems”.“In this situation you can listen to a lot of things. In my experience as a coach if there are the problems you solve them in the changing room not the press conference”.

Next week Chelsea will face Hull City at Stamford Bridge: will Costa be available again?

“We start next week on Tuesday and we’ll see – Conte ended – So it’s difficult to tell now if he will be fit for Hull.”

Speaking to BBC after scoring the brace that helped Chelsea to beat Leicester City 3-0 today Blues full-back Marcos Alonso claims that speculations on a possible Diego Costa‘s exit from the Stamford Bridge club are not true:

“You guys made up the story. Diego wasn’t feeling well because of his back. He’s very happy and will have a great enough season at Chelsea.”

Easy job for Chelsea at King Power Stadium, where the Blues win 3-0 over Leicester without any particular stress.

The game immediately goes onto the right path with Marcos Alonso scoring his first goal at 7′, after Pedro missed a chance on an Azpilicueta cross from the right: Eden Hazard gets the rebound and assists the Spanish full-back, who scores with a great shot from the left of the box.

Chelsea dominate in the first fifteen minutes of the first half, then Leicester try to react looking for the equaliser, being dangerous with Chilwell and Vardy, but Courtois manages to keep his goal clear.

Pedro gets close to score 2-0 in the end of the first part missing an incredible chance after David Luiz and Hazard perfectly carry out a tactic on a free kick.

Six minutes into the second half and Alonso find the goal who seal his personal brace and the game: a shot from the box limit on a Willian’s free-kick from the right that his deflected by Foxes’ captain Wes Morgan with his knee, Schmeichel cannot reach it, 2-0.

Still 39 minutes to go Antonio Conte’s guys find themselves in comfortable position, with Leicester trying to react but showing a poor organisation and not the same spirit that let them win the title last year.

A fact that became even clearer in the 3-0 goal scored by Pedro at 71′ after a poor clear from the Foxes defense, with Willian trying a lob on Schmeichel coming out and Pedro finishing it with a header.

This is the moment where the match ends, with still twenty minutes to go: Chelsea controls it until referee Andre Marriner blows the triple whistle and maintain their gap from Spurs, second with 45, to seven points, with Liverpool ( now fourth with 44) still having one game in hand, the one to be played tomorrow at 4 pm at Old Trafford against Manchester United.

It could seem ironic, but it could Blues former boss José Mourinho to do a big favour to his ex team beating the Reds tomorrow and keeping them in the same place as they are tonight, letting Chelsea seven points above their first chasers.

Chelsea are leading 1-0 over Leicester City at half time at King Power Stadium, thanks to a goal by Marcos Alonso at 7′, assisted by Eden Hazard after that a good play by Azpilicueta was ending with a missing chance by Pedro.

The game was balanced, with the Foxes trying to equalise but with no success, thanks also to a couple of Thibaut Courtois’ decisive saves.

The Blues still have 45′ to complete their chase to increase the advantage over the other teams in the title race.

Ex Chelsea player Tony Cascarino claims Blues already found a Diego Costa‘s substitute, should the Spanish striker move to China after an alleged monster offer arrived to him from Tianjin Quanjian:

“That’s the reason we now know why [Fernando] Llorente has come to Stamford Bridge,” the ex forward said to Sky Sports.

“He’s worked with Conte before [at Juventus] but can he do the job Diego has done? Not so well, I’d imagine.”
