Speaking during his pre-game press conference, Maurizio Sarri explained how his team can beat Manchester City on Sunday, as they did some weeks ago at Stamford Bridge.

I think that we were lucky because we scored in a very difficult moment of the match. Maybe we deserved to win in the second half, but we were lucky in the first as we scored in a difficult moment. In that match we defended really very well as they had only three goal opportunities, no more”. Sarri said. “It is not easy against City to give them three or four opportunities. They had scored 43 goals in 15 matches, so it is difficult and we need to defend well. We need to be very fast when we are able to recover the ball. They are able to press really very well so it is difficult to exit that situation. If we can do that then we can do well”.

The good news is that all Chelsea’s players will be available for Etihad Stadium’s game: “We have only some little problems with Odoi, he had fever for one day. Yesterday we had a little problem with Cahill, his back, but nothing serious”. Sarri revealed. “I think every player will be available. I hope so. We have to do another two trainings”.

Whatever will be the result of Sunday’s match, however, Sarri is aware that there is still a big gap between Chelsea and Manchester City: “I think we can fight for the top four this season, no more”. the Italian claimed. “We can win something, of course, but Premier League there is fighting between Manchester City and Liverpool. I think City are the best team in Europe, it is difficult to win the Champions League. I think that we need to work. You are the most competitive in the market or you need to work, I don’t know another way. We need to reduce the gap”.

Meanwhile, the Italian manager’s former side SSC Napoli earned a last-gasp victory over Liverpool on Wednesday night

Sarri, speaking to Sky Sport in Italy was also asked to give a comment on Carlo Ancelotti’s men win against Reds, a team which Chelsea faced twice last week (0-1 in the third round of Carabao Cup, then a 1-1 draw last Saturday).

He said: “That was what I hoped for [a win from his former side]. We had two hard-fought battles against Liverpool them last week, I like to think they were fatigued because of me”.

Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri had his say ahead of tomorrow’s Europa League clash against Videoton at Stamford Bridge.

The Italian has confirmed he will make at least five changes in the starting line-up as the Blues will face Southampton on Sunday afternoon at home.

Speaking at a press conference Sarri said: “I don’t think that in West Ham we didn’t win because of the match in Greece. We changed a lot of players so I don’t think the reason was that. Of course tomorrow we need to change some players because we have spent a lot of mental and physical energy in two matches against Liverpool.

Then we have to play a match again in 62 hours [against Southampton] so tomorrow we need to chage. I don’t know how many players but we need to change. I have to change five, six or seven players. I don’t know at the moment. I want to see training in the afternoon and to see the last training tomorrow morning.”

Sarri also confirmed the qualification to the next Champions League group stage remains Chelsea’s main target as the Premier League season started properly with 5 wins and a couple of draws from 7 games. The Blues could also book a place in the competition by winning the Europa League this campaign.

“At the moment for my club it is more important to be in the Champions league. To play the Champions League is more important at the moment but I want to arrive to the end in the Europa League. We want to arrive to the end but the Europa League is a very unusual competition because we don’t know all the names of the opponents right now. In the second round eight teams will arrive from the Champions League so it is very difficult but we want to arrive at the end of the competition.”

Just few hours after Thibaut Courtois’ words on the differences between Chelsea and Real Madrid, the Belgian’s replacement at Stamford Bridge Kepa Arrizabalaga explained why this summer he chose to sign for the London club.

It’s a great club, that in the last few years has won the Champions League, the Europa League, the Premier League”, Kepa told Spanish sports paper As. “It’s a team with great players.”

The Times reveals Chelsea star Eden Hazard will stay at Stamford Bridge to one condition: to be guaranteed regular Champions League football.
The Blues failed to qualify for the top European competition last campaign and will play in Europa League this season, but Hazard won’t stand not playing Champions League for two years in a row, so if Chelsea will fail to reach Premier League top four again he will move elsewhere, probably to Real Madrid, who have been waiting for him for over two years.

The same report claims Hazard is mulling over a new £300,000-a-week contract ahead of the expiration of his current deal in 2020 but he remains keen on a move to La Liga giants Real Madrid or FC Barcelona in the future.

Hazard recently ruled out an imminent move to Spain, claiming he is happy at Chelsea, but  didn’t commit to the Blues for life, confirming that a transfer could be possible in the near future.

Later today Chelsea star Eden Hazard will play with Belgium vs Panama in his first game of Russia 2018 World Cup.

Speaking with French paper L’Equipe, Hazard himself gave “contrasting” messages on his future.

The Belgian player on the one hand said he is “focused on the World Cup,” but, on the other, admitted: “Real Madrid can interest me, everyone knows that. But if tomorrow this club does not want me, we will no longer speak about it. If they want to buy me they know what they have to do”.

However, at the moment, Hazard is a Chelsea player and first, of all, he wants to know what it is going to happen with the London club: “I won everything in London except the Champions League. If I’m here in my career, it’s thanks to Chelsea. the Belgian star explained.  “To say that I am going would be too easy and so first of all I want to see what will happen at Chelsea ahead of next season. I want to see if the coach stays or not. If it is going to Madrid just to go there for the sake of it then no. I need a project and at Chelsea I have one.”

Can Gonzalo Higuain become a new Chelsea player this summer? There are many chances this will happen according to Andrea D’amico‘s words on the one hand and reports by the Evening Standard on the other hand.

Today D’Amico, agent of many football players told the Italian radio programme “Tutti convocati”: “Higuain? He will leave Juventus. He was signed to win the Champions League, but they didn’t win it. He has the appropriate age to be sold”

Moreover, reports by the Evening Standard suggest that Juventus have offered Chelsea Gonzalo Higuain as the Italian champions want to sign Spanish striker Alvaro Morata who already played two seasons with the “Bianconeri”.

Italian outlet Gianluca Di Marzio.com has dropped the transfer market bomb tonight: Thibaut Courtois’ exit from Chelsea is certain and Liverpool have turned their sights on signing him.

The Belgium international is determined to leave Stamford Bridge this summer in search of a new challenge.

Chelsea failed to qualify for the Champions League with a fifth-place finish in the Premier League and the club have also failed in efforts to sign Courtois up to a new long-term deal.

The 26-year-old’s current contract runs out next summer ( 2019) and the Belgian keeper has refused every offer the Blues has made him to extend his contract.

Courtois is set to leave this summer, and will have the choice whether to stay in England or join Real Madrid.

The Champions of Europe and Liverpool are the top contenders for his signature, but it remains to be seen whether Chelsea would sell to a direct rival.

Chelsea may be persuaded to part ways with Courtois as he enters the final 12 months of his contract, rather than lose him on a free transfer next summer.

Chelsea head-coach Maurizio Sarri spoke following tonight's defeat against Manchester United in the FA Cup fifth round tie. The Italian boss said: "I think so. Of course I’m not...
