Chelsea youngster Charly Musonda is today in Glasgow to sign for Celtic after the two clubs agreed an 18 month loan.

The young midfielder will undergo later today his medical before his move will be officialy announced.

Meanwhile, Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers commented: “He’s a really exciting prospect. 24 clubs were in for Charly, it’s a great coup for us.”

Ahead of tomorrow’s EFL Carabao Cup game vs Bournemouth, Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has given some updates on which players are more likely to start the match.

The Italian confirmed Michy Batshuayi will be included in the starting XI, while he ruled out both David Luiz and Charly Musonda.

Musonda has a little problem – a muscular problem in his groin”, – Conte said – “not from today but also before the game against Southampton. He’s out.”  

Drinkwater is also set to start the game, while Conte also says youngsters Ethan Ampadu and Callum Hudson-Odoi may play at least part of the match.

Ahead of Chelsea‘s Premier League game vs Southampton tomorrow at Stamford Bridge, Antonio Conte admits he has not a lot of power on the club’s decision over the January tranfer window.

It’s right to have a meeting with the club about the transfer market in January,” – Conte said according to Football.London. – “But you have to ask the club which players will come and leave. I can give my opinion to the club and the last word is the club’s. I have to respect every decision.”

According to various reports two players in particular can leave Chelsea in January, Michy Batshuayi and Charly Musonda, but Conte says he is happy to have them both in his team. “He is part of my squad,” – Conte said about Batshuayi -. “Batshuayi was out for three weeks and then he struggled a bit to find the right physical condition. Now he’s in good form. But if you compare to last season, he is playing.”.

And then about Musonda he went on: “I’m happy for him to sign a new contract. The club I think took the right decision for this, and the player the same. Then for his future I think the club and the player will take the right decision.”

Chelsea have announced Charly Musonda has put the pen to paper on a new and improved deal with the Blues which runs until June 2022.

The Belgian 21-year-old, who spent last season on loan at La Liga side Real Betis, played 25′ against Crystal Palace in the current Premier League season, with also two games in the Carabao Cup against Nottingham Forest and Everton.

“I love this club so it’s a great moment for me and my family. – Musonda said after signing new deal – Now I want to establish myself and progress into the team and stay here permanently”.

Charly Musonda Jr. could face a severe punishment from Chelsea after posting an image of a black screen with the following caption: “You sacrifice, you work hard, harder, you give more than what’s expected, and often more than you can, because you love what you do and clearly more than you should.

“And what do you get back? ‘Literally nothing,… done. However, with this being said I will continue with same dedication and commitment to this great game.”

 

Chelsea currently have a number of 34 players out on loan, with Tammy Abraham at Swansea and Kurt Zouma at Stoke City.

Chelsea are considering to extend Charly Musonda‘s deal until June 2021, according to reports in the London Evening Standard.

The 20-year-old, who spent last season on loan at Real Betis, made an impressive start to the season with the Premier League champions as he scored his first goal at Stamford Bridge last week in the Carabao Cup against Nottingham Forest.

Musonda’s current deal is due to expire in June 2019, but Antonio Conte reportedly rates the Belgian winger a key player for his long-term plans.

Charly Musonda reflected on his first goal for Chelsea in the Blues’ 5-1 home win against Nottingham Forest last night. Antonio Conte’s men will face Everton in the next stage of Carabao Cup.

“It was my first start and it was very exciting and, to be honest, I was more nervous before the game. – the Belgian star said – I had to wait for so long for the game to start, a 7.45pm kick-off, so when the game started I was at ease and I felt really good”.

“I was looking forward to it. I come from the Academy and it was a great experience to be able to play my first game with the first team here at the Bridge, but it’s only the first game and I have to keep on working”.

The 20-year-old, who spent last season on loan at Real Betis in Spain, added: “It was an emotional moment to score my first goal at the Bridge. I can’t even remember it now! I was very happy and you could see that. I was in tears to be honest. If the lads didn’t come and get me I don’t know what would have happened! It was a great moment”.

Chelsea legend Didier Drogba used his social media in particular Instagram to send a message to Charly Musonda.

The striker defined the Chelsea youngster as talented: “Nothing makes me more happy but seeing you being part of the first team of Chelsea,” – Drogba wrote – “Have a great season, I’ll be watching son @charly.musondajr. #keepthatsmile, #talented #musondajr #elfuego”

According to rumours Celtic are ready to present an offer for Charly Musonda and it seems the Belgian youngster is willing to leave Stamford Bridge to sign a contract with the Scotthis champions.

Nathan Ake and Charly Musonda were called back as Chelsea needed a couple of backups in their squad and manager Antonio Conte gave his thoughts on both the youngsters, speaking at press conference yesterday.

About former Bournemouth star Ake: “He has improved a lot in the last one-and-a-half years and I felt it was right for him to come back. Also, in January, the market is not easy, so I took the opportunity for us to bring him back”.

While, about 20-year-old former Betis Seville youngster: “Musonda is a bit different from Ake because he wasn’t playing much at Real Betis”,

“He was a player who, in pre-season, I would have liked to see. Now he stays with us, he has good prospects, he can improve a lot and he’s very young”.

“I think if he stays with us to work, to improve physically, technically and tactically, it will be very important for him and for me because for the next few months I can have a good option”.
