Chelsea have announced Charly Musonda has put the pen to paper on a new and improved deal with the Blues which runs until June 2022.

The Belgian 21-year-old, who spent last season on loan at La Liga side Real Betis, played 25′ against Crystal Palace in the current Premier League season, with also two games in the Carabao Cup against Nottingham Forest and Everton.

“I love this club so it’s a great moment for me and my family. – Musonda said after signing new deal – Now I want to establish myself and progress into the team and stay here permanently”.

Charly Musonda Jr. could face a severe punishment from Chelsea after posting an image of a black screen with the following caption: “You sacrifice, you work hard, harder, you give more than what’s expected, and often more than you can, because you love what you do and clearly more than you should.

“And what do you get back? ‘Literally nothing,… done. However, with this being said I will continue with same dedication and commitment to this great game.”


Chelsea currently have a number of 34 players out on loan, with Tammy Abraham at Swansea and Kurt Zouma at Stoke City.

Chelsea are considering to extend Charly Musonda‘s deal until June 2021, according to reports in the London Evening Standard.

The 20-year-old, who spent last season on loan at Real Betis, made an impressive start to the season with the Premier League champions as he scored his first goal at Stamford Bridge last week in the Carabao Cup against Nottingham Forest.

Musonda’s current deal is due to expire in June 2019, but Antonio Conte reportedly rates the Belgian winger a key player for his long-term plans.

Charly Musonda reflected on his first goal for Chelsea in the Blues’ 5-1 home win against Nottingham Forest last night. Antonio Conte’s men will face Everton in the next stage of Carabao Cup.

“It was my first start and it was very exciting and, to be honest, I was more nervous before the game. – the Belgian star said – I had to wait for so long for the game to start, a 7.45pm kick-off, so when the game started I was at ease and I felt really good”.

“I was looking forward to it. I come from the Academy and it was a great experience to be able to play my first game with the first team here at the Bridge, but it’s only the first game and I have to keep on working”.

The 20-year-old, who spent last season on loan at Real Betis in Spain, added: “It was an emotional moment to score my first goal at the Bridge. I can’t even remember it now! I was very happy and you could see that. I was in tears to be honest. If the lads didn’t come and get me I don’t know what would have happened! It was a great moment”.

Chelsea legend Didier Drogba used his social media in particular Instagram to send a message to Charly Musonda.

The striker defined the Chelsea youngster as talented: “Nothing makes me more happy but seeing you being part of the first team of Chelsea,” – Drogba wrote – “Have a great season, I’ll be watching son @charly.musondajr. #keepthatsmile, #talented #musondajr #elfuego”

Nathan Ake and Charly Musonda were called back as Chelsea needed a couple of backups in their squad and manager Antonio Conte gave his thoughts on both the youngsters, speaking at press conference yesterday.

About former Bournemouth star Ake: “He has improved a lot in the last one-and-a-half years and I felt it was right for him to come back. Also, in January, the market is not easy, so I took the opportunity for us to bring him back”.

While, about 20-year-old former Betis Seville youngster: “Musonda is a bit different from Ake because he wasn’t playing much at Real Betis”,

“He was a player who, in pre-season, I would have liked to see. Now he stays with us, he has good prospects, he can improve a lot and he’s very young”.

“I think if he stays with us to work, to improve physically, technically and tactically, it will be very important for him and for me because for the next few months I can have a good option”.

AS Roma made Chelsea’s Charly Musonda Jr. a top target to revamp the squad in January transfer market window, according to reports in Italy.

The 20-year-old was recalled from his season-long loan at Real Betis and is reportedly set to join another side, with the Giallorossi keeping tabs on him.

It is understood Roma manager Luciano Spalletti is also keen on West Ham flop Sofiane Feghouli.

The 19-years-old, that is making an impact in La Liga while on loan to Betis Sevilla, is under contract with Blues until June 2019 and his loan deal was expected to be extended.

The Belgium Under-21 international won the Under-21 Premier League, UEFA Youth League and FA Youth Cup with Chelsea.

Spanish club Real Betis signed Chelsea midfielder Charly Musonda in January on a loan deal that keeps him there until the end of the season.

However, after 11 impressive appearances for Betis, the club are interested in extending the deal beyond the summer.

According to Marca, Real Betis‘ club president Angel Haro is already in talks with Chelsea and Musonda over a possible extension and seems keen on the keeping the player for as long as he can.

“There are interesting players that we are trying to keep, for example Musonda, for which we have already spoken with Chelsea and there is optimism.”

The Spanish clubs vice president, Jose Manuel Lopez Catalan, believes that Musonda‘s happiness is key and that Chelsea are delighted with the 19-year-old and his progress.

“The signals from the meetings are positive. Chelsea is also pleased with the progress and we are considered a serious club.”
