Antonio Conte regretted after defeat at Old Strafford against a ‘great’ Manchester United dragged by Lukaku and Lingard.

Speaking after the game, the manager said: “I think the draw was the fair result for this game. But we are talking about a defeat and that’s all”

“We had to be more clinical, instead we kept the game open, and the opponent made us pay.  Manchester United are a great team, and we must be disappointed, because I repeat today,  we could have done better.”

“We know there is a battle and it will be difficult to find a place in the Champions League.”

About Morata offside and VAR said: “I must be honest, I didn’t see the situation, but if you’re telling me Alvaro Morata wasn’t offside, I think VAR is very important, especially in England. There are a lot of moments in the game where there are things to super-check”.

Chelsea defender Gary Cahill has revealed that Ryan Mason’s retirement from football was “heartbreaking”.

The Blues captain was involved in a clash of heads with the former Hull City player in January 2017 that left Mason with a fractured skull.

The ex-midfielder was forced to retire earlier this week 13 months on from the injury for the consequences of it, news which Cahill was “devastated” to receive.

“I was devastated to hear that Ryan Mason has retired from professional football this week, I can’t even imagine what he’s feeling and going through, having to retire at such a young age, and when I heard the news it was heartbreaking,” the defender told Chelsea’s official programme in last night game issue.

“I’ve got a son and a beautiful fiancee around me, so these are the sort of things that mean more to you than football when things are put into perspective. Challenging for the ball in the air is such a common thing and you never expect consequences like this to come from it.

“That is when football goes totally out of your thoughts and it becomes about making the best decision for your health. I want to spend my best wishes to Ryan and his family. The most important thing in life is your health, and I am sure he will now go on to be successful in whatever he chooses to do next.”

Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud reacts to his first ever goal scored with the Blues shirt in tonight FA Cup clash against Hull City:

“I was waiting for it [a first goal]. I had a couple of chances in previous games,” the French striker said.

“It was important for me to score my first goal. It’s relieved me a little bit.

“We can see the team had a good team cohesion. It was important to bounce back after some disappointing results.

“This confidence is very important to carry on like that. We need momentum.

“Everything is going in the right way. We’re very pleased with our last two games so let’s carry on.”

An easy job for Chelsea tonight: four goals in the first half to beat Hull City and gain FA Cup quarter finals.

Everything went smoothly for the Blues when after only 160 seconds Willian netted the opener with an amazing shot of his from the box limit that just entered in the posts cross.

The Blues took control of the game and, in only 25 minutes, had the time to miss four chances with Fabregas, Willian, Giroud and Pedro.

The Spaniard, anyway, redeemed himself with a beautiful goal at 27′ and, only five minutes later, Willian sealed the game with his personal brace with another shot from the limit.

Right before half-time Olivier Giroud could score his first goal in Chelsea shirt assisted by Emerson Palmieri, at his official debut tonight.

The game was practically over only after 45 minutes, with the two sides doing something more than a training in the second part.

Chelsea will know their rivals in the quarter finals next week, but now their mind is only at the Champions League clash against Barcelona next Tuesday.

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte was victim of a prank during today’s press conference when Stefano Corti and Alessandro Onnis, from the Italian satirical television show Le Iene, sitted among the journalists in Cobham’s press room, showed him a video they filmed in Manchester with José Mourinho at the time of their famous “verbal war” about one month ago.

The Red Devils boss was a victim of a prank as well, when he was given a Man United shirt to be signed, to discover only later that had printed “Antonio Conte” on his back.

The video was not visible to the assembled media, only to Conte and the Chelsea press officer. The message, spoken mostly in Italian, said: “Antonio, we sent you a messenger. A present for you from your brand new friend, Jose Mourinho! He told us he loves you. Look at what he has written on the present he sent out for you: ‘Your friend, Jose.’

“Can you promise us that next time you play against him you will share a sign of peace? Come on, Antonio…you will be friends forever!”

Conte had a little laugh at the message, but said he had “nothing” to say. Corti then presented the Blues boss with shirt, telling him: “This is a present for you. It is signed by Jose Mourinho – ‘To my friend Antonio’. Long live friendship… shall I leave it to you?”

Conte didn’t seem to amused by the whole scene. He could hardly be described as bemused either, and his responded to Corti: “No, you can take it with you. Keep it, you will give it to me later.”

The Chelsea rep thanked him for his effort, but reminded him that time is limited in this press conference, and that he really should have done the video and shirt presentation afterward; as Corti was taking time away from journalists with actual questions.

This is the video of what happened:

After tonight win against WBA Chelsea boss Antonio Conte was relieved to have found some confidence before some important clashes like the upcoming ones against Barcelona, Manchester United and Manchester City:

“What I know is that tonight was fundamental to get three points back, to win this game, especially to find again some confidence, because when you lose two matches in a row in a bad way the confidence decreases,” the Italian coach claimed after the final whistle.

“It was also important for us to have some rest and we rested for two days.

“We started the game with a few confidence, we made some mistakes, West Brom could have scored but we were back in the game, we scored and we could have scored even more goals.

“It was important to overcome this hard moment.

“Now we have important clashes, like the one against Barcelona, and we had to find our confidence again before facing them.”

After tongiht 3-0 win over West Brom Chelsea crisis is probably over and now the Blues can start to think about Barcelona, due to land on Stamford Bridge next week after the FA Cup clash against Hull City.

It was Eden Hazard that led Chelsea to get the three points tonight, opening the score at 25′ with a sharp shot after a give and go with Olivier Giroud.

The Frenchman and Zappacosta failed to score some minutes before, with Foster saving his goal in a couple of chance, but first of all it was Jay Rodriguez that missed an incredible chance in the beginning of the game after a mistake by Victor Moses.

The Nigerian, anyway,  got back at it putting his name on the scoresheet at 63′ with a brilliant finishing.

Just some minutes before, Rondón failed a great chance to equalise when left alone in front of Thibaut Courtois.

Eight minutes after Moses’ goal Hazard completed his brace and sealed the game, giving back some calmness to the environment and to his team-mates.
