Rumours coming from Spain were claiming that FC Barcelona eyed Victor Moses, who has been impressing in these last six games at Chelsea, since they are looking for a new right full-back.

Antonio Conte was asked today if he thinks to give the Nigerian a contract extension, so to prevent him to accept offers from other clubs, this is what he answered:

“It’s important to be focused game by game, now we are doing very well, I like to think that my players look at the present, not at the future or so long-term, after a tough period we won six games in a row, now it’s important to work and to think about the present, not to the future. There is the right time for everything.”

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte spoke ahead the important derby against Spurs and revealed that he’s got a couple of players in the “medical room”, since John Terry and John Obi Mikel picked up muscular injuries during the week:

“Terry got a muscular injury, it’s in his gluteus, and he will be out about two-three weeks. John Obi Mikel got a muscular injury as well.

“Is JT’s injury frustrating for the team and me? It’s important for him to recover from his injury. It’s a pity because he recovered really well from last injury and now he has to restart again. It was during the U23 game or the day after.

“I watched the match Chelsea and Tottenham played in May at Stamford Bridge, it was a very strange game because in the first half Spurs played very well, on the second half it was another game and Chelsea played very well.

“For us it’s very important to think about the present, last season they [Spurs] fought until the end to win the title, and their squad improved respect to last season. I am pushing my players to be focused.

“Tomorrow it’s important to win the game, to play a good football, the passion has to be present in the right way. I hope tomorrow we can see a good game with two good teams.

“My players must be very focused because the game is very tough, Tottenham is one of the strongest teams of this league.

“Our behaviour in the dugout has to always be perfect, as the manager I have different view and attitude during the game, but always in the right way, always respecting the game, the fans, and the other team.

Rumours claimed that Barcelona are keen on Victor Moses, since they are looking for a new right back.

The Italian manager was asked if he wanted to give the Nigerian player a contract extension to prevent him to accept other clubs’ offers:

“It’s important to be focused game by game, now we are doing very well, I like to think that my players look at the present, not at the future or so long-term, after a tough period we won six games in a row, now it’s important to work and to think about the present, not to the future. There is the right time for everything.”

Steven Gerrard announced his retirement from played football yesterday, here’s Conte’s opinion about him:

“Gerrard was a fantastic player, a legend for Liverpool and national team, it’s a logical when a player retires we’re all a little sad, but he showed how to be a great player.

“We know that tomorrow we will have a tough game against a strong team, tomorrow it will be another game, in the league, it will be a special derby for both teams.

Willian has to find a good form again, in this period he was unlucky, and it’s important now to be focused on the work, in the training session, he’s important for us, I count on him.”

Fabregas, Terry and Zouma played in the Chelsea Under 23 side during the week and Conte was present at the game:

“I saw a great attitude of the senior players in the U23 game.”

Conte was asked about John Obi Mikel’s future, since many rumours put the Nigerian midfielder out of Chelsea already in the January transfer window:

“I don’t know his future, but as I’ve already said we must focus on the present.

I see the players very happy to play this way, it’s important to continue to work and to improve.”

ChelseaNews24 asked Conte if Kurt Zouma is ready to play now and if he can have a chance now that John Terry is injured again if someone is needed in the defence:

“Kurt is playing with continuity with the youth team and he’s training with continuity, now it’s important to find the right form and to let him understand this new idea of football and tactics. It’s important to go day by day.”

Schurrle had an 18 month spell at Stamford Bridge

Borussia Dortmund star Andre Schurrle recalled his time at Chelsea in an interview, explaining that an infection ruled him out of the squad that later won the title a couple of seasons ago.

The German was awarded with the winners’ medal anyway, since he made several appearances before moving to Wolfsburg in January 2015 in a £ 22m deal:

“Chelsea was a dream for me,” Schurrle said to Bild.

“But after I was out for a few weeks through an infection, the coach unfortunately did not count on me much more often.

“[Jose] Mourinho showed me how hard life can be as a footballer. If you had one bad game, you would be out of the team.

“My experience at Chelsea was great, playing with so many superstars – it was just like I had imagined it,’ he added.

“Playing for Chelsea was an absolute dream for me, but following my infection, the manager no longer counted on me.”

Tottenham star Moussa Sissoko is ready for “another battle” against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Last May Spurs lost their title race when they drew 2-2 in West London, giving Leicester City the mathematical certainty of the title and their frustration led to some incredible fouls on Blues players that also caused some scuffles on the pitch before the final whistle.

Sissoko was a Newcastle player at the time, but he could see the match on TV:

I saw the tackles flying in on TV last season and it is going to be another massive game on Saturday,” he told the Daily Star.

“But I am sure we will be ready for it. All the players will be up for it.

Spurs were knocked out from the Champions League after losing 2-1 in Monaco, a big failure that can also bring more motivation in the Premier League to Mauricio Pochettino‘s squad:

“I think the Chelsea game comes at the right moment for us because going out of the Champions League is such a big disappointment we feel we must do something to put it right.

“We need to show more character and play better than we did in Monaco,” Sissoko added.

After Antonio Conte changed his tactical system to 3-5-2 David Luiz shut up many of his critics impressing in his displays: Cahill, Azpilicueta and him built a dam that allowed Chelsea to keep six consecutive clean sheets.

The Brazilian defender revealed what is that secret of such an incredible score in the last six games:

“The spirit is amazing and when you have that it really makes a difference,” the Brazilian told Chelsea TV.

“I’m happy to be playing in the team and I’m happy to be a part of this family.

“I just try to do my best, it doesn’t matter which position I play in, I think everybody understands that philosophy and that’s why we’re doing well.”

Victor Moses is one of the players of the moment at Chelsea and Blues manager Antonio Conte takes a dig at former boss José Mourinho for not seeing the potential in him:

“I could see his potential from the first days of the summer training camp,” Conte told to Gazzetta dello Sport.

“Moses has important qualities: technique, physical strength, the ability to cover 70 metres of the pitch.

“I find it incredible that someone like him has been underestimated.”

The Nigerian winger revealed that current Manchester United manager Mourinho never spoke to him during his second spell at the club and praised Conte after last Sunday win at Middlesbrough:

“I am delighted and excited to be in the first XI, the new manager wants to give the youngsters an opportunity to express themselves.”

After being out for an ankle injury for more than two months Harry Kane returned the past week and last Saturday he helped Tottenham to win in the crucial clash against West Ham with a brace in the last two minutes.

Now the English striker feels ready for another derby, the one at Stamford Bridge against Chelsea.

Doubts rose about his fitness, as Spurs got another important game against Monaco tonight that will define their future in the Champions League, but Kane claims he feels ready for both games:

“Can I play against Monaco and Chelsea? I feel I can. It was tough, it was my first 90 minutes in a while, but we have a couple of days to recover.

“I’ll always be there for the gaffer if he wants to pick me. It’s his choice. I feel fit, I don’t think I played the best I’ve ever played but it’s what I’m there for, to put the ball in the back of the net.”

Chelsea legend Ray Wilkins claims he’s not convinced about Marcos Alonso‘s signing, saying he would have preferred to see Ryan Bertrand in his position.

Bertrand was part of the squad that won the Champions League in 2012, starting also in the final, but failed to impress after that and was sold to Southampton for £12m in summer 2014, establishing himself as one of the best full-back in the Premier League since then.

“When you look at the players he has at his disposal, he has very intelligent footballers,” Wilkins told Sky Sports.

“Therefore it shouldn’t take too long to get over how he wants them to play.

Victor Moses has been a revelation at Chelsea this season.

“But I’m not too sure about Alonso on the left hand side.

“I would prefer Ryan Bertrand there but they sold him for £10m and brought in Alonso for £30m.

“I can’t quite add up that maths. They would be stronger down the left with Bertrand.”

Nigeria Football Federation president Amaju Pinnick stated that Chelsea loanee Tammy Abraham and Liverpool talent Ovie Ejaria should play for Nigeria instead of England national senior team.

Both players have already represented England in the youth ranks, with Abraham having made 21 appearances between the Under-18s and the Under-21s.

“What are trying to do is what we call VIP scouting, talking to these young players that are playing abroad to play for their father land,” Pinnick told to competesportnigeria.com

“If you talk about Tammy Abraham, he is like my son, his father and I grew up in the same neighborhood.

“So when they talk about him, I just laugh because I know what to do. As for Ovie Ejaria, I talk with the father often, he just called me recently. These are people we have met and they are all excited about Nigeria.

“I am yet to see a Nigerian that is regretting being a Nigerian. No Nigerian, even if they have four or five passports, they are always excited being Nigerians. I can assure you that we shall get them to play for us at the appropriate time.”

Abraham is impressing in his loan spell at Bristol City, scoring 9 goals in 17 Championship fixtures so far.

Ejaria has mostly been limited to performances in the Premier League 2, although he has played in both of Liverpool’s EFL Cup wins against Derby and Spurs.

Antonio Conte wants to bring Federico Bernardeschi at Chelsea: the Italian attacking midfielder, 22, is impressing in Serie A and the Blues boss is really keen in signing him.

The pair already know each other as Bernardeschi is an Italian international and, despite the Tuscan forward claimed he would like to end his career at Fiorentina, Conte would like to try to bring him to Stamford Bridge.

Bernardeschi is on top form in this moment: he scored two braces in the last two Seria A fixtures with Fiorentina, the last one yesterday in the 4-0 win at Empoli, and scored 6 goals so far in this season, all in the Italian league.
