Musonda, 19 years of age, was intent on staying in west London in an attempt to break through into Chelsea’s first team but joined Real Betis on loan, scoring one goal.

The attacking midfielder claims that joining the Blues from Anderlecht back in 2012 was however the “most important step” of his career.

He told RTBF: “I started playing football at Anderlecht and grew up there, so the club will always be in my heart. Still, I’ve always said that going to Chelsea was the most important step of my career. I’ve received incredible training there.”

Then added: “I needed minutes to keep growing, so I had to leave Chelsea, and I did so at the perfect time. It’s going well, but I’m not surprised. This is what I expected, but I still have my feet on the ground. I face things as they come.”

lukaku

The Sun claims that Antonio Conte has put Romelu Lukaku on the top of Chelsea’s wishlist.

It’s rumoured that the Italian national team manager will move to Chelsea this summer and he’ll need to revamp Blues attack given that Falcao and Pato are going to leave Stamford Bridge at the end of the season.

Belgian striker Lukaku was sold by Chelsea in 2014 to Everton after a seaosn on loan at the Merseyside club. Chelsea fell in love with him again, but Lukaku’s current value has highly increased, estimated around £35m.

Antonio Conte seemed to be impressed by Cesar Azpilicueta and his way of play as Italy and Spain played out a 1-1 draw in their international friendly on Thursday.

Azpilicueta was making his 13th international appearance for Spain and praised Italy coach Conte after the match: “Italy played a really high-intensity game,” – Cesar said – “in the first half we were not able to get out of the pressure and to get control of the game. We were in trouble because we had to defend and they have dangerous players. It was a difficult game. “

About the future Chelsea manager he added: “We don’t know yet. We are focusing on the end of the season with Guus Hiddink as our manager. We will try to finish as high as possible to get close to the European places because what we have been doing until this moment is not enough for Chelsea. We will try to finish well and then the club will make a decision. Italy played well and it’s down to the way they work. We can see they play a really intense game and tried to give us problems. I cannot say much more because he is the Italian national coach.”

Antonio Conte, the ever more likely Chelsea boss for next season, could be looking to add depth to his squad, looking towards his old club Juventus for players that impressed while he was in charge of the Italian side.

Reports from Tuttosport suggest that Leonardo Bonucci and on-loan Juan Cuadrado are at the top of Conte‘s shopping list.

However, Juventus boss Max Allegri is more than keen to keep hold of both of these players, he see’s them as a big part of the team for next season. Reports also suggest that Allegri is planning a counter offer in the hopes of securing the services of out-of-form Eden Hazard and also Brazilian winger Willian.

It leaves a difficult decision for Chelsea to make because although Conte would want to make his own mark on the team, selling Hazard could prove to be a bad decision. Although he has had a poor season so far, he has the ability which he proved in a spectacular season last year.

Speaking the clubs Official Website Hiddink said “I received the news of Johan’s death with immense sadness. Firstly, I have lost a friend. I knew Johan well for many years and we spent time together in both the Netherlands and Spain.

‘Johan was a great man and always made sure he remained approachable to many people. His influence on the game, both as a player and a coach, cannot be overstated. We will miss him very much, but football will forever be indebted to his genius. What he taught us about the game is still as relevant now as it was 40 years ago.
