Chief Executive Officer

by -

Former Chelsea chief executive Ron Gourlay has been appointed by Reading in the same role.

The former Blues CEO – who replaced Peter Kenyon in 2009 and worked at Stamford Bridge until 2014- has a long experience in the football business, as he worked also for Manchester United and Umbro.

After signing his new contract for the Royals, he said:

“I look forward to working closely with all the staff who, through their dedication and commitment on a day-to-day basis, strive to make this club successful at every level.

“I am excited to be working alongside manager Jaap Stam and his coaching team, director of football Brian Tevreden and a very promising squad of players ahead of what I am sure will be another exhilarating campaign in the Sky Bet Championship.”

Salah’s story is becoming a thriller in Italy, the summer thriller.

One of the player representatives, Remy Abbas, claimed last night that the Chelsea player doesn’t want to extend the loan to Fiorentina: ““We have decided not to stay in Fiorentina, Salah will shortly move on to another Italian club”.

Many people think this club can be Inter, that are supposed to already have a personal agreement with him, or Juventus, that are looking for a forward to replace Carlos Tevez, who went back to Boca Juniors.

Meanwhile Fiorentina claim the agreement with Chelsea stated that the loan was deemed to be valid if at the date of 30th June no other agreements were made: the Viola already paid the £1m loan fee to the Blues and already registered the new loan contract to Lega Serie A, that is the official authority that govern the Italian championship.

But Salah got an ace in his hole: a personal and private agreement signed with Fiorentina on February 2, 2015- just a couple of days after his arrival to Florence.

The agreement- that you can see here– was published by the website FirenzeViola.it  and it’s signed and sealed by Fiorentina Chief Executive Officer, it states:

“The employment contract signed on February 2, 2015 by and between the club and the professional football player Ghaly Mohamed Salah ( “Employment Contract”) shall not be deemed to the consent of Ghaly Mohamed Salah ( “player”) for the purposes of the clause of loan agreement signed between the Club and Chelsea FC which enables the Club to excercise the option of extending the loan period

An agreement that give power to Salah and take it off to Fiorentina.

The Italian club made an”insane offer” – like one of their directors claimed- to Salah in the past days to convince him to stay in Florence, but Salah never told them if he would accept it or not: due to this, Fiorentina took his silence like an agreement, paid the loan fee, registered the contract and even selected him for the pre-season camp that will start on July, 13.

We got the feeling that Salah will never show up there.
