Former Napoli boss Maurizio Sarri is finally set to be named Chelsea manager next week and wants to bring in four key players this summer, according to reports in Italy.

Speculations have always suggested that Antonio Conte is set to leave the Blues this summer despite two successful seasons in charge, winning the Premier League in his first campaign and then the FA Cup last month.

However, the ex Juventus manager has remained to be the head coach of the club, even though Sarri was replaced by former Blues manager Carlo Ancelotti at Napoli, with his contract with the Azzurri being still valid at the moment.

Chelsea failed to pay the €8m buyout clause – which expired last week- in the Italian’s contract while Laurent Blanc was also being lined up as a potential candidate.

However, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Sportitalia and more Italian publications, the final negotiations from Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia are set to be completed this week and the Stamford Bridge side will have a new manager.

That will mean Conte could get a payout of around £9m since he still has one year left on his deal.

The former Italian national team coach is reportedly on the list of Real Madrid candidates to take over from Zinedine Zidane, who shocked everyone by stepping down from the role after three Champions League title wins in a row.

That might mean that Chelsea can avoid paying out for Conte to leave, should the Spanish side really go after the former Italy national team head coach.

Former Chelsea captain and club’s legend John Terry wants to sign a new deal with Aston Villa despite failing to get promotion to Premier League after 1-0 loss against Fulham in play-off final at Wembley.

It is understood 37-year-old would have extended his contract automatically if the Villains reached a promotion.

Terry, who’s been pictured in tears after failing to get a well-deserved promotion, featured 20 times this season scoring once against Middlesbrough earlier in October.

After claiming at Sky Sport Italia that his future could be decided after the FA Cup final, Antonio Conte claimed he will Chelsea manager also next year.

Asked if the final against Manchester United at Wembley would be his last with the Blues, Conte replied

“No, I don’t think so. In this season, for sure.

“I am committed to this club, this is important for me. Not speculation around me. It is important what the club thinks, not you.

“I have a contract and the club know very well the situation. After Saturday we go on vacation and then we will see next season.”

Speaking to Telefoot, Chelsea star Eden Hazard said he is happy in London at the moment, but also that anything in football could happen and, most of all, that he will change club only when he will decide to do so himself.

I still have two-and-a-half years left on my contract”. Hazard said. “I am very well there. The fans love me, my family enjoys life over here. We will see. In football anything can happen. But in football nothing can happen too. Every year they talk about Real or PSG. And when I want to change clubs, I will. But at the moment I’m good where I am.”

According to various speculations in the last few days, it is understood that Antonio Conte would love to be appointed once again as Italy national team coach.

However, today, Chelsea‘s manager dismissed all these claims. “Costacurta is a friend and we played together in the national team in 1994”, Conte said.
However, he may he forgot I still have 18 months of contract with Chelsea and my desire is to respect this contract. My intention, my will is to respect the contract. We signed a three-year contract and I think our desire is to continue and to respect the contract. It’s normal to be under pressure, this season has been all the same. I don’t understand why it’s only around me, maybe because it is Chelsea. If I stay without pressure, I don’t like it. I like to have the pressure and I like this type of situation.”

Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson revealed the main reason why Chelsea haven’t tried to hijack Alexis Sanchez‘s move to Manchester United in the past week.

The Chilean striker is set to move to Old Trafford in a swap with Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who will sign for Arsenal, and he’s going to receive a wage of £500,000-a-week AFTER tax.

Merson believes handing a player that sort of money at Chelsea would have caused problems with the likes of Eden Hazard – who is in talks with the club directors to extend his contract and increase his wage- Cesc Fabregas and Willian.

“They needed Sanchez,” the pundit said.

“If they would have got Sanchez I think they get in the top four.

“But if you go and get Sanchez, you bet your bottom dollar come what two days later, Hazard’s agent’s knocking on the door, Willian’s is knocking on the door, (Cesc) Fabregas, (N’Golo) Kante.

“They’re all knocking on the door and before you know it, that £100m signing for his package turns into £200m.”

Chelsea's Andreas Christensen during UEFA Champions League - Group C match between Chelsea and FK Qarabag at Stanford Bridge, London 12 Sept 2017

Denmark international Andreas Christensen’s impressive performances for Chelsea this season were rewarded with a new long-term contract at the Blues that was signed today.

The 21-year-old player– who entered Chelsea academy when he was 15 – has signed a new four-and-a-half year contract.

So far in this campaign he replaced David Luiz as a first choice central defender following some fine displays since returning to London after a two-season-loan at Bundesliga side Borussia Mönchengladbach.

“It feels really good to sign a new contract and I’m just happy to be committed to Chelsea for the future,” Christensen told the club official website.

“I’ve played a lot of games (22 in all competitions), I’m enjoying it at the club and everything is working well.”

Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia said the contract was a tribute to Christensen’s latest performances:

This contract is reward for the excellent form Andreas has shown in the first half of the season,” she said.

“He showed immense potential when he signed for Chelsea in 2012 and is now enjoying the benefits of the dedication and professionalism he has shown since.

“After two seasons on loan in Germany we were convinced he was ready to be a part of the squad this season and he has grasped the opportunity with both hands.”
