Celtic goalkeeper Craig Gordon put the pen to paper on a new three-year deal with the Scottish Premier League side, which means that will stay at Celtic Park until June 2020.

The Blues’ January target told Celtic’s official website: “It’s taken a little while after the interest in the January window but it’s good to finally get it done and concentrate on the rest of the season”.

It is understood Chelsea did not sign Gordon after failing to reach an agreement with Bournemouth to sell backup goalkeeper Asmir Begovic.

Celtic goalkeeper Craig Gordon reveals he was drained by Chelsea links in last January transfer window.

The Blues were looking for an Asmir Begovic‘s substitute, since the Bosnian goalkeeper was keen to move to Bournemouth after receiving a good offer from the Cherries, but at the end the deal was called off:

“It was about doing the job and I’ve had that a couple of times in my career where there’s been talk of changing clubs and bids coming in and having to play games during that time,” Gordon said.

“It is mentally draining, but you’ve got to do your job and we continued to play well.”

After failing to sign Craig Gordon during last winter transfer window, due also to the fact that Asmir Begovic didn’t join Bournemouth, Chelsea will try again to put their hands on the Celtic’s goalkeeper this summer.

The Scottish player is one of the name in The Blues wish list along with Jordan Pickford (Sunderland), while it seems Begovic will leave the Blues to play for Bournemouth next season.

Chelsea look set to place a late bid in order to sign Celtic striker Moussa Dembele, according to reports in SkySports Transfer Centre.

The Blues’ are reportedly interested in the 20-year-old and could offer a fee in the region of £40m to land the former Fulham star to London again.

Antonio Conte’s side received a huge amount from the departures of both Oscar and Obi Mikel earlier this month.

It is understood Chelsea have also been in talks with Celtic regarding goalkeeper Craig Gordon, despite manager Brendan Rodgers declared ‘he won’t go anywhere’.

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers dismissed rumours over a potential move of Craig Gordon to Chelsea in January transfer window.

The 34-year-old goalkeeper has been heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge as a possible replacement for Asmir Begovic, should the former Stoke City star leave on Deadline Day.

Anyway, Celtic manager Rodgers said: “I repeat, we don’t want to sell him. It’s between the club and his agent to find a new deal for him, which we believe we will do,”

“It’s very simple. I spoke to you on Friday and told you he wasn’t moving. I told you last night there was no more movement”

“I will tell you the exact same thing. There’s nothing new to add. He will be in the team for the Aberdeen game”.

Chelsea second keeper Asmir Begovic is considering an offer from Bournemouth in this transfer window and this is the reason why Celtic goalkeeper Ryan Gordon was linked to the Blues as a possible substitute.

Asked about this situation in today’s press conference, Chelsea boss Antonio Conte commented:

“I don’t know about many names I read, for sure there is this situation about Begovic and Bournemouth, but he is an important player for us, also in the chaning room, I like his commitment, if we get a player to substitute him he can go, otherwise he can stay here.

“Begovic will play tomorrow? Yes, he starts, he is a Chelsea player and people have to understand this, and for me he stays.

“I understand why he [Begovic] has to leave, but also the players have to understand me and the club. We are open to help him, if there are the conditions he will leave, otherwise, this is the situation.”

Craig Gordon is the new name to substitute Asmir Begovic, should the Bosnian goalkeeper move to Bournemouth after the Cherries played an offer for him last week.

Gordon could move to London in a potential swap, as Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers would like to sign three Chelsea talents on loan as a bait to let his keeper move to Stamford Bridge.

The former Blues assistant is keen on Dominic Solanke, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Ola Aina.

Negotiations are still on as January transfer window closes next week.

Chelsea made Celtic goalkeeper Craig Gordon their main target to replace Asmir Begovic, according to the Daily Telegraph.

It is understood Bournemouth have placed a £10m bid for the Bosnia-Herzegovina star, who could leave Stamford Bridge after joining in 2015 from Stoke City.

According to reports Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is also a great admirer of Espanyol’s Diego Lopez and Galatasaray’s Fernando Muslera, but the 34-year-old Celtic goalkeeper is said to be the Blues’ main target to replace Begovic.

Gordon, who previously played in Premier League with Sunderland, could be offered a one-year deal.
