Chelsea directors want to give Antonio Conte the new signing he’s asking for to complete his squad, this is the reason why Leicester City midfielder Danny Drinkwater became a priority in their transfer window in the last hours.

According to reports coming from the UK, Marina Granovskaia stepped up to speed the transfer process in order to sign the English player and she is ready to place a £ 30m offer to secure the England international services.

The alternative to Drinkwater is Everton midfielder Ross Barkley, who was linked to Manchester United as well.

SkySports in UK believes that Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has set sights on Leicester midfielder Danny Drinkwater as he’s looking for a replacement following Nemanja Matic‘s departure to Old Trafford.

Anyway, Leicester are reportedly reluctant to sell the England international, who recently signed a new four-year deal with the Foxes. With Mahrez as a possible signing for AS Roma, Drinkwater could ask to leave the club in order to join the Premier League champions this summer.

As confirmed by SkySports reporter Kaveh Solhekol, “Chelsea are interested in signing the Leicester City midfielder” despite admitting that “Drinkwater is not for sale”.

Leicester clinched the title following Chelsea’s 2-2 draw with Tottenham on May 2, and the Foxes were welcomed onto the pitch with warm ovation from the home fans at Stamford Bridge today. Leicester’s Claudio Ranieri, Blues manager from 2000 to 2004, receiving a positive response from all at the Bridge.

Kasper Schmeichel produced excellent saves to keep Willian and Cesc Fabregas out in the first half, before Jamie Vardy fired off target from 20 yards in the 13th minute, but Riyad Mahrez set him up for a better chance midway through the half.

With the clock showing 26 minutes, Stamford Bridge turned their attention away from the pitch.

John Terry’s name rang out, along with placards showing his name and number, prompting a show of appreciation from the suspended captain – who was offered an extension to his expiring contract earlier this week. Both teams went into the half goalless.

In the second half Chelsea were given an opportunity thanks to a substitute Jeffrey Schlupp bringing down Nemanja Matic inside the box. Fabregas converted from the spot. However, the Blues victory was denied as Leicester’s Danny Drinkwater slotted in a 82nd minute goal that drew things to 1-1. With 8 minutes to go Chelsea struggled to create chances and the game ended in a draw.

Chelsea manager Guus Hiddink, was unfortunately not given a winning send-off before Antonio Conte takes the reins next season.
