Fans may wish to hold back on purchasing kits for the new season, as reports reveal that not even Diego Costa is guaranteed to be a Chelsea player next season.
The forward was reportedly offered to Real Madrid, amplifying doubts over Costa’s loyalty to the Blues that first arose from reports about the Spanish international being homesick.
If the reports carry any weight, Chelsea could be facing a striker crisis similar to that of the closing weeks of this past season, especially when combined with rumours of LoÏc Remy being on his way out.
Both Chelsea and Costa himself have denied any links with Real Madrid, however rumours surrounding the potential transfer seem to continue circulating in Spain. Although it all appears to be hear say so far, the transfer period has been highly unpredictable in the past.
Despite injury woes, Costa has had an impressive first season – and it’s unlikely that Mourinho will easily let go of the 26 year-old.
