AC Milan are considering a move for Chelsea striker Diego Costa after Alvaro Morata widely rejected a summer transfer to the Serie A, according to reports in Italian press.

The Rossoneri have reportedly met Diego Costa’s agent Jorge Mendes in order to discuss a potential move for the Spanish striker, who recently admitted he’d only leave Chelsea for his former side Atletico Madrid.

Anyway, since Los Colchoneros’ have seen their transfer ban upheld by the Court of Arbitration for Sport, the Chelsea striker could consider a move to another side. It is understood Costa already received a mammoth offer from Chinese Super League side Tianjin Quanjin in January.

Behind Eden Hazard’s very good season with Chelsea there are not only his technical and physical skills, but also Antonio Conte‘s tactical advice.

“I started to play a bit more centrally, like a Number 10. The manager said to me I have to try to find Diego Costa”. – the Belgian striker told Chelsea official website – “When I play I always try to pass to him, or look for him to make a run which opens up the space for me to come inside. I always try to be close to him because I know it makes it difficult for defenders when there is two of you, or even three when Pedro or Willian are there as well. When we remain static it makes it easier for them to mark us, so I tried to stay close to him and play one-touch football, which worked well”.

Sky Sports pundit and transfer market expert Guillem Balague reckons Diego Costa won’t move from Stamford Bridge this summer:

“Costa in a Chelsea shirt next season? I think so,” the Spanish journalist said.

Atletico Madrid cannot sign but even if they were able, they couldn’t find more than 25 or 30m euros to take Costa and that would be a no from Chelsea.

“The interest from China has eased but it may mean that Chelsea need to give Costa a new contract.”

Atletico Madrid‘s transfer ban was upheld by the Court of Arbitration for Sport yesterday, this is the reason why Chelsea striker Diego Costa won’t join Los Colchoneros despite he recently expressed the hope for a comeback very soon.

The Spaniard has admitted that he is only interested in leaving Chelsea for his former club Atletico Madrid, despite Chinese Super League side Tianjin Quanjin had reportedly already set personal terms with the striker.

Then Diego Costa is not expected to be leaving for Atletico this summer, since the La Liga side cannot register new players until January. They can sign new players (as Barcelona did in 2016 with the signing of Arda Turan) but they can’t play until the end of current ban.

Chelsea forward Diego Costa has praised former Blues’ striker Romelu Lukaku as the Belgian star is considered the main replacement should the Spaniard leave Stamford Bridge at the end of current season.

When asked about Lukaku’s signing, Diego Costa said: “I do not know – that’s a decision for the club. Of course Lukaku is a very big player who played an impressive season. I hope he can sign at Chelsea because it’s a unique club.”

And about Chelsea star Michy Batshuayi, he added: “He is a big player and has an impressive future for himself. The past matches have proven that he has quality and scoring ability”.

Speaking after the defeat against Arsenal in the FA Cup final Chelsea star Diego Costa dismissed China’s move speculations revealing the only club he would leave the Blues for, and it’s not Chinese:

“I will only leave Chelsea for Atletico. If not, I will stay here,The Daily Telegraph quote Costa as saying after Chelsea’s FA Cup final defeat to Arsenal on Saturday.

“I’m not interested in other clubs. I know Chelsea wants to sell players, but I told them, I have two years left in my contract and I won’t go somewhere else just because they want so.

“I will only sign for another club in Europe, they know that. Otherwise I’ll stay with my current contract. I have a contract and no intention of leaving, but if there are changes to be made that might reduce my chances, if the coach won’t count on me anymore or is to give space to another striker, I know that I’ll have to leave. But only to where I’m willing to.

“Everyone knows what my preferred club is, there’s nothing to hide. Money is good, but I’m grateful for what I have right now and I have other things to look forward to, like playing the next World Cup. I know that I have a chance to be called if I’m playing well and at a high level, that’s something I want.

“If I have to move to another City or another country than Spain, I don’t think I’ll go, I’d rather stay at Chelsea. If the club wants to sell me, they know where I want to go.”

Tianjin Quanjin has turned down rumors linking them with an agreement reached over the signing of Chelsea star Diego Costa. It is understood they are considering to lure the Spaniard from Stamford Bridge next summer, but some reports suggested the club have already started negotiations with his representatives.

Anyway, an official statement from the Chinese Super League outfit read: “For the past six months, our club have not involved in any form of communication and negotiation with Diego Costa nor his representatives.

“Our club will draw up a rational transfer plan as an aim to improve the spectator experience of the Chinese Super League and meet its sustainability demands.

“We won’t take part in any unhealthy competition, thus preventing all overpriced signings.”

Former Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknap, writing in his column for the London Evening Standard, has pointed out the striker who could replace Diego Costa at Chelsea, should the Spaniard leave Stamford Bridge to join Chinese Super League outfit Tianjin Quanjin.

Speaking about Everton star and former Blues’ striker Romelu Lukaku, Redknapp said: “He has that same physical presence as Costa and would be the most obvious fit if Conte is going to stick with playing one up front next season. But if Lukaku does sign, it will be another case of a player leaving for next to nothing only to be re-signed a few years later for a silly amount”.

“Alvaro Morata is the other striker Chelsea have been linked with and he’s a top player but his injury record would make you wonder if he can cope with the demands of English football, playing every three days”.

Then he added: “Lukaku knows the League well which is another reason they like him but Morata has a track record of scoring goals at the highest level. We don’t know whether Lukaku can. He has all the attributes to do it and I can see him being successful but replacing Costa with him is still a step into the unknown”.
