Manchester United manager José Mourinho reveals two of his stars are doubts for FA Cup final against Chelsea at Wembley next Saturday.

“Anthony [Martial], I have to wait a bit for more. It’s his knee.

“He was injured in the Friday training session and on Saturday he couldn’t train. He had treatment in the morning at the training ground and he stayed away.

“I’m waiting for the doctor but when it’s impossible to play today, I have my doubts for the Cup final. Let’s wait and see, also for Romelu [Lukaku]. I know he will be back on Tuesday.”

United, who finished second behind Premier League champions Manchester City, will start the preparation for the final tomorrow, as Mourinho revealed:

We’ll have one day off to disconnect a little bit but then, of course, on Tuesday we start thinking about the last week of work and the last week of work is for a final, so we don’t need more motivation than what we have.”

Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has withdrawn from Belgium’s squad to face Saudi Arabia due to an ongoing hamstring issue and now he is a major doubt for Easter Sunday’s clash against Spurs.

Blues boss Antonio Conte confirmed the Belgian keeper was suffering from a “muscular problem” ahead of last weekend’s FA Cup quarter-final win over Leicester City, although second goalkeeper Willy Caballero usually starts domestic cup games.

Courtois joined up with Roberto Martinez‘s national side anyway but Belgium have confirmed he will continue his rehabilitation at Chelsea training ground in Cobham and won’t take part in Tuesday’s friendly.

Antonio Conte will probably have just one first team squad midfielder for tomorrow’s clash against Watford, as the Italian manager himself revealed during a press conference today maybe only Cesc Fabregas will be fully fit to play among the midfielders, as Danny Drinkwater and N’Golo Kante are both still recovering from their long-term injuries and Tiemoué Bakayoko didn’t feel very well after the Champions League game against Roma:

“Honestly at the moment I cannot say nothing about the starting XI for tomorrow,” Conte told the press.

“I have many doubts, I have 24 hrs to recover some players, maybe Fabregas will be the only fit midfielder.

“For sure tomorrow the game will be very tough, because Watford are a good team, they got a good position in the table, but after two defeats we want to come back to win.

“It can happen to lose some games, after [the win against] Atletico we played a tough game after only two days, maybe this can be the only regret, when we played at Crystal Palace it was after international break, and then Roma after three days.”

Asked if he changed something in his training method respect to last season, Conte said:

“I don’t know about this, my method is the same of last season, when we won the league, we are working maybe 70% less in this season, that’s why we have troubles.

“We play every three days, so it’s impossible to work in technical and physical aspect like the past year.

“After two defeats in a row I am happy for the commitment and the efforts of my players, but if you ask me about the last results, I am not happy, no coach can be happy after two defeats and one draw.”

Conte was also asked if he can handle the pressure he’s under in this delicate moment of his Chelsea experience:

“I think every manager has to feel the pressure, I try to put all myself in my job, I am happy when I go to my house because I put myself 100% in my job.”

When asked if he was regretting replying to José Mourinho‘s comments ( “some manager always cry about injuries”) the Italian coach replied:

I don’t regret replying to him, every manager has to talk about his job, himself, his team, his players, not the others. Every coach has to focus on his own work, it’s the best way to work.”

And when the journalist insisted on a comment on this topic, Conte replied:

“For me this is a stupid issue, it’s funny you’re sot interested in it.”

Asked about Danny Drinkwater‘s recovery from his calf injury and if he could risk the former Leicester midfielder in the next games Conte said:

“Danny is progressing well, now he has started to work in some part of the sessions with us, now it’s important for him to improve his physical conditions, but he’s progressing well.

“First of all it’s important to recover him very well, if I play him I will have a not fit player and maybe he will pick up another injury, 40 days have already passed, but we must have more patience and wait the right moment.”

About N’Golo Kante’s recovery from his hamstring injury, Conte said:

“I hope to have him back very soon, before the inter nation break, he is progressing well, the scan was better than before, he has started to work, not with the group. Back with Man United? It could be an option, but if he is available before, like in the away game at Rome, I will be very happy.

“I think that we have to try everything to win the game, their effort and commitment was very good and positive against Manchester City and against Roma, it’s important to win, we’re working to try to win the next game.”

“Now our priority it’s to be focused and to go game by game, every opponent can be dangerous for different reasons, we have to go game by game to try to win the game and put ourselves in a better condition.

“When you have to play four competition this is the path you must follow, to play every game with the same players is a big problem, in this way it’s impossible to work well, the game is not training, it’s different.

“If you compare the situation with Tottenham last season, don’t forget that we lost a lot of big players, a lot of players that wrote the history of this club, we signed five players and we are trying to repeat something important, but it’s normal you have to pay something in this situation.”

Questioned if he regrets to play David Luiz in the midfield against Roma, Conte said:

“When you have the necessity to do this I am not happy, because I think every player has his own role, but I think sometimes you have to adapt and you must pay for this, it’s normal.”

On tomorrow’s rival, this what the Blues boss claimed:

“I think they are doing very well, they did a really good transfer market, I’m very happy for Pozzo family, I know them very well and they have great knowledge of football, but surely tomorrow I want to ready to beat them.”

Chelsea are in concern for the fitness of two of their most important players ahead of Crystal Palace clash this weekend.

Blues stars Alvaro Morata and N’Golo Kante both suffered a hamstring injury in the last days and still is not sure if they will be able to recover before the Eagles derby.

Morata posted some photos and videos on social media showing he was in high spirit and determined to recover on time for Premier League restart, but he still remains a doubt.

Kante’s conditions have to be still evaluated by Chelsea medical staff, so the extension of his injury is not known yet.

The absence of these two key players would be a major blow for Antonio Conte and the Blues, who are chasing Manchsester United and Manchester City in Premier League title race, with the two teams topping the table with a six points advantage.

Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez is a doubt for Community Shield clash against Chelsea: the Chile international had a prolonged break after featuring the Confederations Cup in June, that was even longer for an illness.

The Gunners forward is lacking in match fitness and could not be featuring in next Sunday’s derby.

Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois as a lot of respect for the Chilean player and hopes he doesn’t have to stop him during the game:

“Alexis is a guy with a lot of quality.

“If you see all the games from last season there is a lot of danger coming from him. He has a very strong shot, he is quick. He has the technique.

“He is important for them but Arsenal have a lot of players with quality. So they will miss him but I think they have a lot of players with that quality to replace him.

“I think they have bought a good new striker [Alexandre Lacazette].

“I’d prefer if he [Sanchez] doesn’t play because he is a good player! But we cannot only look to him.

“For example in the FA Cup Final [Arsenal beat Chelsea 2-1 last May] they missed some defenders and everybody thought they would be bad but Per Mertesacker played a great game that day.

“So you cannot look to the team as one player or another player. It will be a difficult game regardless but I hope for the same outcome as the friendly last week.”

Antonio Conte gave a couple of injury updates ahead of Middlesbrough clash claiming that, anyway, he’s got a couple of days to recover these players and check their situations, since Boro are visiting Stamford Bridge on Monday night:

“Courtois trained today and I don’t see any problem about him. We are trying to see the situation, also about David Luiz and Kante, I have time to make the right decision. I have to check the situation to take the best decision.

“Kante has got a muscular injury, in his thigh.”

Chelsea defender Gary Cahill is a doubt for FA Cup semifinal against Spurs after spending two nights in hospital with mysterious illness, Matt Law from The Indipendent reports tonight.

“It is understood Cahill was admitted to hospital on Tuesday after training and was only released on Thursday, following treatment and tests, putting his participation in the semi-final tie in doubt,” Law writes in his exclusive report.

“Cahill first started to feel ill on Monday, the day after playing in Chelsea’s Premier League defeat to Manchester United in which Conte’s plans had been hit by illness and injury” he continues.

Marcos Alonso missed the United game with a stomach bug that Diego Costa and Victor Moses played with, while goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois injured his ankle in a basketball promotional shoot.

The English centre-back could be replaced by Kurt Zouma or John Terry, should he fail to recover before Saturday.

Antonio Conte reveals he is not sure to have a full squad to select for the clash against Crystal Palace, that will be played at Stamford Bridge tomorrow afternoon.

The Italian boss admitted they had a difficult week at Cobham, with many players that were away for the international break and others that got some injuries that now are concerning him:

“We got two-three situations that we have to value tomorrow,” the Chelsea manager said during today’s press conference.

Conte was probably speaking about Diego Costa and Thibaut Courtois, who picked up minor injuries with their national teams: the Spaniard in his ankle and the Belgian goalkeeper in his hip.

“This week wasn’t easy to work, with the international break, some players came back with some problems, I have two-three situations to value.

“I think is important to check the situation with these players, John [Terry] is good, he trained all the week, for some others is important to value the situation.”

Antonio Conte revealed Chelsea star Eden Hazard is a doubt for Monday night Premier League derby against West Ham.

When asked about injury concerns ahead of this clash, the Italian manager replied:

“Injuries? Nothing important apart from a little problem for Eden Hazard, but nothing serious, the rest of the team is fit and we are working very well. He got a kick during the training session when we re-started on Wednesdayt, but I guess it’s nothing serious. Anyway, we have to value his situation”.
