Chelsea will take on Swedish side Malmo in the Europa League‘s last 32.

The Blues will face their first game in Sweden on 14th February and will play the second leg at Stamford Bridge on 21st February, a week later. As Chelsea’s official website confirmed, “both legs kick-off at 8pm UK time”.

Uwe Rosler’s men, who have finished 5th in their league, don’t have any competitive game scheduled as the new season will start in March.

Chelsea and Malmo have never met before in their history.

Olivier Giroud and Alvaro Morata have often been criticised so far during this season and their difficulties have been underlined again after Chelsea‘s goalless draw vs Everton on Sunday at Stamford Bridge.

However, the French striker claims he and his team-mates not only have been useful for the Blues in many other ways, but also he promises both will score again soon. All the speculation is part of the sport, part of the job. We must expect good players, good strikers at big clubs. But the both of us just need to carry on and show the team is doing well with us. It’s true that at times we didn’t score. But, as I always used to say, some strikers need to do the runs for team-mates, to do the things that people don’t see”. Giroud told the Evening Standard. “We are fully committed to Chelsea. Even if sometimes it wasn’t perfect, I will always give my maximum. I’m not worried about the future and I’m sure we will score more goals for the team. It (the talk of Chelsea signing another forward) doesn’t trouble me, no. I am a competitor and I will do my best until the end of my contract.”

Chelsea’s defender Antonio Rudiger was furious after the referee booked him during the Premier League game against Everton at Stamford Bridge last time out.

Speaking after the match, Rudiger himself explained the reason behind his disappointment showed towards the referee and Everton’s midfielder Bernard. “It’s annoying because I don’t even tackle someone, do something and I get booked for being head-butted. Sorry but that’s a joke”. –

Rudiger said: “He [Bernard] was diving and I told him to ‘stand up’. Then he came with a lot of speed and hit me with his forehead, so for me to get a yellow card — to me that’s a joke.

The referee didn’t see anything. Perhaps it’s the fourth official who was outside [the pitch], maybe he said something to him [Friend] that I had provoked [the player] or something but I just said ‘stand up’.”

Antonio Rudiger also believes things would have been different if the VAR was available: “If there is VAR in England, then Bernard has a problem. He would be sent off.”

Ross Barkley had a crucial role in Chelsea‘s draw vs Manchester United at Stamford Bridge, scoring the 2-2’s goal in injury time.

Speaking to the club’s official webisite, the midfielder now admits he is improving as a player during his experience in London:

I believe I’m a better player now. ‘I’ve matured and I understand the game more, which is natural growing up, I’m 24 now,” Barkley said. “I’m at a big club with a lot of expectation and fantastic players around me, and my performances are showing that.”

Chelsea will face Derby County in the Carabao Cup‘s fourth round in a game which will be played at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues defeated Liverpool last week at Anfield, while Derby County won on penalties vs Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Frank Lampard, Chelsea legend and Derby County’s manager is very thrilled about the chance to be back at Stamford Bridge.

We know how crazy football is. I was driving along with Jody Morris and Chris Jones in the car with me. It’s a great draw for the club and it’s great for myself. Chelsea was my home for many years and it has been a big part of my life”. Lampard said during his press conference ahead of tomorrow’s Championship game vs Norwich. “It’s a big deal and I can’t wait. I’m delighted to go back and see a lot of friends behind the scenes, and 40,000 friends in the crowd.”

Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri had his say following today’s draw against Liverpool at Stamford Bridge, in a game which the Blues were leading before conceding a goal into the 89th minute.

When asked if Daniel Sturridge‘s stunner changed his verdict on the game, Sarri told journalists: “Yes, I am disappointed because they scored in the last minutes but in the end I’m happy. Firstly with the performance, and I think a draw maybe is the right result, the match was wonderful”

“I’m really happy with the defensive performance of my side, especially in the second half” he added.

“I think they are a step forward. I also think we are closer than I thought one week ago”.

French striker Olivier Giroud is happy Chelsea will face Liverpool in the Carabao Cup after their Premier League goalless draw vs West Ham.

They will provide a real test of how good we are,” Giroud told the Evening Standard. “We need to show team character after the West Ham game, so there is nothing better than to play the team at the top of the League. It will be a good test”.

Giroud is also aware the Blues’ boss Maurizio Sarri will make some rotations for the Cup’s game at Anfield, but this won’t weaken the team: “The coach will obviously make some changes for the League Cup tie, but we have many players with quality and we have a good team”. Giroud explained. “We want to be strong and show them that it won’t be easy for them at Anfield. We want to keep the confidence high and come back to London with good momentum and start a winning run again.”

Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri doesn’t blame Europa League clash in Greece, where the Blues had to stay even one day more for a travel disruption, for his team draw at West Ham today:

“It’s very difficult to play in the Europa League, but more difficult in March and April, not now.

“I said only that I don’t know why, in England, after an away match in the Europa League [we do not] play in the Premier League on the Monday night.

“In Italy, it’s possible. Here I have to play 64 hours after a Europa League match. In this period, it’s not a big problem. In April, maybe.

“I knew that West Ham are a very good team. I don’t know why they lost their first four matches in the league, but they are really a very good team. Maybe now [they are] in confidence after they won away against Everton.

“Maybe we could have done better in the last 25 minutes of the first half. Then, I think that we have played very well… well in the second half, generally, but very well in the last 25 minutes.

“It’s impossible to win every match. So it’s okay, one point, for today.”
