Chelsea star Eden Hazard believes his side deserved more from last night game against Barcelona:

“I want to say that we should have won the game, but when you play against this kind of team you have to be focused 100 per cent,” said Hazard, who went close to score with a couple of chances and assisted Willian for the opener.

“We made one mistake but if we’d scored more goals the mistake doesn’t count, so a draw is a bad result for us because now we have to play in Barca and we know it’s going to be difficult.

“We can play with our quality. We have good players, you could see that, so we can create a lot of chances. We will give everything to try to go through.”

Willian was Chelsea’s man of the match, having scored the opener and hit the post twice, but also giving more than a headache to Barça’s defence:

“I said to him that he needed to shoot in the goal and not try to touch the post,” Hazard said with a smile on his face.

“I said that to him in the first half and you saw in the second half he scored the goal. I’m happy for him, he played really well. He’s a top player and he showed that.”

When asked what kind of performance Chelsea will need to produce at Camp Nou in three weeks, Hazard replied:

“More than perfect: we want to keep a clean sheet, for sure, and we will need to score if we want to go through. We have three weeks to be ready for the game and we will give everything.”

A good Chelsea is stopped by Leo Messi, who scores his first goal ever to the Blues, and get only a 1-1 in the first leg of this Champions League last of 16.

Antonio Conte‘s side were really unlucky in the first half, when Willian hit the post twice in only seven minutes, at 34′ and 41’ with two shots from his from the box limit.

The Blaugrana, as usual, were dominant in the ball possession and in the game control, but they were barely dangerous, just a couple of headers by Paulinho and Pique that went wide.

Besides the posts, Chelsea were close to score also with Eden Hazard ( twice) whose shots went high on the crossbar and Antonio Rudiger, who was close to net the ball with a header.

Valverde’s side seemed more determined in the beginning of the second part, Suarez had his first attempt saved by Thibaut Courtois but it was Chelsea who took the lead when at minute 62′ Willian finally found the net with another shot from the limit after a short corner: it was the moment Stamford Bridge stands shook.

Barcelona, anyway, had a reaction after finding themselves one goal down and put all their effort to equalise: a draw that came at 75′ after a horrible defence from the Blues, with Marcos Alonso giving away a ball with a horizontal pass near the box while Barça were pressing close to it, Fabregas and Azpilcueta missed it, Iniesta got it and immediately assisted Messi who was able to score his first goal to Chelsea after eight attempts.

Chelsea also had the time to throw a couple of counter-attacks away, with Alvaro Morata that entered only at 82′ for Pedro, who had never been able to be dangerous against his former team.

Everything will be decided in three weeks at Camp Nou, where the game promises to be thrilling.

Goalless draw at half-time between Chelsea and Barcelona in the first leg of the Champions League last 16 which is been playing at Stamford Bridge.

Ernesto Valverde‘s side dominated the ball possession, but the best chances were for Antonio Conte‘s Blues: Willian hit the post twice with two shots from outside the box, at 33′ and 43′.

Hazard went close to score twice as well, but his shots were just a little wide.

The only chance for Barcelona was an header by Paulinho that went wide.

A very unlucky Chelsea that showed character and pace.

Eden Hazard is convinced Chelsea can beat Barcelona in this tough Champions League tie:

“I think all of the games are difficult. When you play in the CL it is more than difficult. This season Barcelona are one of the best in the world. We will give everything in both games.

“We need to defend as a team, if we don’t then we are in trouble. It is right to play our football. We like the ball and when we have it we need to score goals. Tonight is key at Stamford Bridge.”

Asked if he feels he can be compared to Cristiano Ronaldo and Leo Messi:

“First it is good to be compared with the greatest ever. But I am different. I try to do my job and reach my level to their level because they are the best in the world. If you want to be one of the best you have to play well in the big games.”

Chelsea will face Manchester United next weekend, an important weekend for them:

“For sure. Like I said we play football, we are Chelsea and the champions of England.”

Asked if we have to expect more coming from him:

“I think so. Every game I try to play my best football. This year we are back in the Champions League, you want to shine when you play the best team in the world. If I want to reach that level I have to play at the best.”

About his future:

“First I see the game tomorrow. I’ve been playing for Chelsea for six years and I am happy here, my family is happy here and focus about the end of the season. I don’t focus too much on the future.”

About Barcelona captain Andrés Iniesta:

“I think he is one of the best players with Messi in Barcelona history. He is still at the top and maybe played for ten years. I remember when he scored in the last minute, for Chelsea fans it is not a great memory. Now it is the past and we focus on the present and tomorrow is the future.”

About the tie:

“We know that it is tough to beat Chelsea. We are in a good position and will give everything. Barcelona is one of the best clubs in the world and they have had trouble against us and I hope tomorrow is the same.”

Speaking to Telefoot, Chelsea star Eden Hazard said he is happy in London at the moment, but also that anything in football could happen and, most of all, that he will change club only when he will decide to do so himself.

I still have two-and-a-half years left on my contract”. Hazard said. “I am very well there. The fans love me, my family enjoys life over here. We will see. In football anything can happen. But in football nothing can happen too. Every year they talk about Real or PSG. And when I want to change clubs, I will. But at the moment I’m good where I am.”

After leading his team to an important success against West Brom tonight Eden Hazard commented the game on tv:

“We had to react and we did in a great way.

“Now we have two important games, against Hull City and Barcelona, we are there, we’re ready!

“Sometimes it happens to lose some games but we have to stick together.

“Today we showed we got personality and we have go on all together.”

After tongiht 3-0 win over West Brom Chelsea crisis is probably over and now the Blues can start to think about Barcelona, due to land on Stamford Bridge next week after the FA Cup clash against Hull City.

It was Eden Hazard that led Chelsea to get the three points tonight, opening the score at 25′ with a sharp shot after a give and go with Olivier Giroud.

The Frenchman and Zappacosta failed to score some minutes before, with Foster saving his goal in a couple of chance, but first of all it was Jay Rodriguez that missed an incredible chance in the beginning of the game after a mistake by Victor Moses.

The Nigerian, anyway,  got back at it putting his name on the scoresheet at 63′ with a brilliant finishing.

Just some minutes before, Rondón failed a great chance to equalise when left alone in front of Thibaut Courtois.

Eight minutes after Moses’ goal Hazard completed his brace and sealed the game, giving back some calmness to the environment and to his team-mates.

Last year Chelsea won the Premier League, while this season the Blues are having a lot of difficulties in their title’s defence.

Belgian star Eden Hazard seems to know why, as he claims that playing in the Champions League has made things more complicated.

I think the Premier League is difficult,” Hazard told ESPN. “It’s hard to win every year. Last year we didn’t have the Champions League. This year we have less time to be ready for the games. Every week there are three games. “We changed a couple of things, we lost players, we brought some new ones and every year is different, That’s why we love football — if there is only one team that wins it would be boring. That’s why football is special. You never know what’s going to happen, especially in England.”

Another humiliation for Chelsea tonight, with a heavy 4-1 defeat at Watford.

The Hornets deserved the 3 points after a brilliant performance against an unrecognisible Chelsea.

The Blues didn’t start well but somehow tried to control the game and created chances, the best one for Willian that after 12′ shot wide from a good position.

Antonio Conte‘s lads didn’t impress in the first 30 minutes of the game, but things got worse after Tiemoué Bakayoko got booked twice in only five minutes and was sent off.

Willian, one of the best men on the pitch until that moment, was replaced by Cesc Fabregas in order to give more consistence to the Chelsea midifield.

After ten minutes, Thibaut Courtois committed penalty on Gerard Deulofeu, being lucky not to get a red card as well, and captain Troy Deeney gave the lead to the Hornets.

Chelsea tried to react in the beginning of the first half, but however it were Watford that were more dangeours, with Deulofeu and Richarlison going close to score around 60′.

At the first real shot on goal of their game, Chelsea equalised with Eden Hazard at 82′.

Only two minutes after Daryl Janmaat gave the lead to Watford again taking advantage of awful defence by the Blues.

Three minutes later, at 87′, Gerard Deulofeu crowned his super performance with a great goal, that sealed the game.

During injury time Roberto Pereyra found the net again for the Hornets, giving Chelsea another humiliation after last week’s defeat against Bournemouth.

This is the Blues’ first ever defeat at Watford since 1999.

In this moment Antonio Conte’s side still sit fourth in the table with 50 points, only 1 more than Spurs ( 49) behind Manchester City ( 69) Manchester United (56) and Liverpool 51.

Now the question is if, after this new year’s bad run, Roman Abramovich will lose his patience again and will give Conte the boot.
