Eden Hazard

He has been on the transfer market rumours for at least two years, but Eden Hazard reveals he won’t move from Stamford Bridge at the moment as he is happy at Chelsea:

“I’m fine here. We’ll see what happens in a year or two,” he told RMC Sport.

“Leave this year? I will not leave. Everybody knows what I said after the World Cup, but I’m happy here.”

The Premier League and Football League voted to shut the transfer window before the start of the English top-flight season, which kicked off on 10 August.

However, the change did not affect most of the European clubs expect Italian ones, as the transfer window there closed last Friday, who can still sign players – including Premier League ones – until their respective deadlines later in the month:

“The transfer window in England is over. Clubs cannot sign players,” said Hazard.

“It would be a little odd if they sell me now while they can’t recruit a replacement.”

Hazard, who has won five major trophies since joining Chelsea in summer 2012, added he could see that “the fans still love me” from the reception he received during the Blues’ 3-2 win over Arsenal yesterday.

The winger still has two years to run on the five-year contract he signed with the Blues back in February 2015.

Speaking after the 3-2 win against Arsenal in his first Premier League derby Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri explained why he didn’t start Eden Hazard against the Gunners.

The Italian coach preferred Willian instead:

“It’s clear. He is a great player,” Sarri started when asked about Hazard.

“But I think that, at this moment, he’s not able to play for 90 minutes, so I thought it was better to give him 25-30 minutes when the intensity of the match has come down.

“But I think, I hope, that in one week, maximum two weeks, he’ll be able to play the whole game.”

Chelsea faced Arsenal in their second Premier League clash of the season. Maurizio Sarri, speaking ahead of his first London derby as the Blues’ manager, confirmed he was looking forward to getting underway.

Chelsea scored twice in the first half as Pedro and Alvaro Morata were clever both to exploit their chances, with Arsenal struggling to score despite three massive efforts missed from a close range by Mesut Ozil, Aubameyang and Mkhitaryan earlier in the period.

The Blues failed to keep their double advantage as Unai Emery‘s men bounced back with two goals in the 37th and 41st minute in a vivid first half. Lucas Torreira replaces Granit Xhaka, who ha been shown a yellow card, while Maurizio Sarri made his first two changes by putting on Hazard and Kovacic respectively for Willian and Barkley.

The Belgian star swept past Lacazette before assisting in the six-yard box Marcos Alonso, who fires home for 3-2. Chelsea earn their second win in a row, the first one at Stamford Bridge also for the newly-appointed Italian manager. Five goals were scored in a dramatic London derby.

Chelsea wingers Pedro and Willian believes the 0-3 victory at John Smith’s stadium was the best way to start the new season ahead of next Premier League clash against London rivals Arsenal.

Pedro told Chelsea’s official TV juts after the game: “It has been really good, the team has been very good with the ball on the pitch, good also in finding the space. It was a very good result for us, good for the confidence.

It’s very important to be very passionate in moving the ball, to be strong with this two lines and to find the space. In the second half we played pretty well, maybe we had more space. It was important today, I think between the lines we worked very hard and very good”.

Eden Hazard provided a clever assist for Pedro in the 80th minute: “He’s the best player here, he started very good with a long run and a pretty move. He creates a lot of chances, the pass and the goal is a good way to start the season, the best way to get confidence and be prepared during the week”.

The Belgian star came off the bench in the second half to replace Willian, who told the club’s official website: “Pedro scored a beautiful goal! It was a good performance from the beginning to the end, we were in control of the game and possessio. It’s very important to move [quickly] and change positions. This is what we did today, in front we have a good quality”.

Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri seemed satisfied about his team performance in tonight’s game vs Arsenal.

We had the first training on the 16 of July. We are late compared to Arsenal on the physical condition”. Sarri said in his post-match press conference. We have done very well in the first half and then we made a mistake in the last minute”.

Then the Italian manager praised Hudson-Odoi, one of the best Chelsea players tonight and “justified” Alvaro Morata who missed a penalty in the first half.  “Hudson-Odoi is a young player. We have to wait. But in the future he will be a very, very strong player”. Sarri explained. “Will he be in the first team squad? I think so He will be staying with us for all the season”.

On Morata, on the other hand: “I don’t know if he’s not confident. Maybe he was tired. The last three days for him have been very intense so maybe in this match he was tired”.

Finally, Maurizio Sarri spoke also about Willian, Eden Hazard and Thibaut Courtois who could leave Chelsea in the last few days of 2018 summer transfer window. “I will see them on Saturday for the first time so I don’t know the situation in this moment. the Italian manager admitted. “We are talking about top players and I think every club wants to keep top players”.

Real Madrid are considering to place a £100m bid to land both Thibaut Courtois and Chelsea winger Willian to Spain this summer, according to exclusive reports in the Mail Online.

The La Liga giants have been recently linked also with a move for Eden Hazard, but their interest in the Belgian star has reportedly ended after Chelsea slapped a £200m price-tag on him, as Spain publication AS reported yesterday.

Moreover, Real Madrid head-coach Julen Lopetegui wants to give Isco a more prominent role at the club next season.

David Luiz, speaking after Chelsea’s friendly game against Perth Glory in Australia, when asked about Willian’s future told Sky Sports“Yes, I heard him almost every day. He loves playing for Chelsea. Will he stay? I won’t let him go. I think he’s going to stay. Seriously, i’m not joking. Chelsea have to keep their best players”.

It is understood Chelsea rejected three bids from Barcelona for Willian before the La Liga champions signed Malcom on a £38m move.
