Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp claims that Chelsea star Pedro doesn’t get the credit he deserves after some impressive performances for his team, including the one against Bournemouth yesterday, where he scored a brace:

“Pedro is often in the shadow of Eden Hazard so doesn’t get the credit he deserves,” the ex Liverpool player wrote in his column for the Daily Mail.

“We are now seeing the player who, with Lionel Messi and David Villa, formed the lethal MVP forward line at Barcelona and his goal on Monday was superb.”

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte decided to face Bournemouth with Eden Hazard as central striker and the Belgian star impressed with a strong performance and a late goal.

Hazard told the club’s official website: “Everything is good, the result, the performance, all the players give everything, running 90 minutes so we are happy, we are top of the league and it is Christmas so for the fans this is important and we won this game for them”.

Diego Costa was absent but the Blues managed to get the 3 points in spite of his absence: “We have different options. Diego we know is the top scorer in the league but we have to find different solutions and we did, with Pedro and me and also Willian can score and we have Michy on the bench, so we have a lot of solutions and we did well”.

Hazard’s goal was the 50th in the Premier League so far for the Belgian star, who claimed: “It is very good to be in this list for such a club. I am happy to be in this club and I want to reach a lot of things so let’s go for it”.

“There are still over four months to play but of course we want to be there. We want to win trophies. Last season was difficult and we want to do better”.

CHELSEA box three goals past Bournemouth

Chelsea box three goals past Bournemouth

PEDRO and HAZARD wrapped up a Boxing Day victory for Chelsea’s 12th consecutive premier League win of the season. With no DIEGO COSTA upfront, the Blues displayed a terrific 3-4-3 formation attack of football to make sure they rotated well among the front three players and netted three goals in front of their home fans.

The Chelsea Spaniard, PEDRO ELIZER RODRIGUEZ LEDESMA (PEDRO) in the 24th minute scored a deflected shot that went to the top corner and in the 90th minute of injury time, scored again. This made the Bournemouth defender, Steve Cook to be among the on-looking opponents who could only look on as the Blues gave the Cherries a box of triple fruitful goals. EDEN HAZARD in the 49th minute added a penalty which more a less rounded off the first half with Bournemouth not able to keep up with the high-flying pace of Chelsea.

Later in the game, Bournemouth looked to their substitute’s bench and threw in the likes of their usual midfield goal-hitting man Junior Stanislas. The second half however was still all for CHELSEA to score more. The formation without the suspended DIEGO COSTA and N’GOLO KANTE saw the Cherries having 56% of the possession compared to the Blues’ 44%.  However, CESC FABREGAS, VICTOR MOSES and WILLIAN had already done the damage which despite pressure from JACK WILSHERE in midfield sees Chelsea yet again earning another three points and setting a club record of 12 straight wins in the Premier League .

Chelsea hosted Eddie Howe’s Bournemouth on boxing day at Stamford Bridge. Antonio Conte’s men who are on fine form heading into this fixture after winning 11 games on the trout looking to better their best ever winning run.

The Cherries earned a shock win over the Blues at Stamford Bridge last season and Bournemouth player Francis was upbeat ahead of the game.

The Blues however were without their talisman Diego Costa and midfield enforcer N’golo Kante as many tipped Antonio Conte to introduce Michy Batshuayi in place of suspended Costa but the Blues boss had different ideas as he opted for a front three consisting of Willian,Hazard and Pedro.

The Blues dominated during the opening stages trying to overpower the 5 man Bournemouth midfield, and breakthrough would finally come in the 24th minute after an impressive combination between Cesc Fabregas and Pedro which allowed the latter to finish off impressively putting Chelsea on the lead on course for a remarkable 12th win on the trout. There were a few chances later on in the first half for Chelsea to double their lead with Fabregas going close with a freekick which went just over the goalpost, the only highlight of the game for the Cherries was Jack Wilshere’s deflected shot which went off for a corner but Chelsea would take their 1nil lead into the halftime.

The second half started with Chelsea pressing for the second and it’d finally come when Simon Francis bundled over Eden Hazard in the box which resulted in a penalty and the diminutive Belgian stepped up and dispatched it for his ninth goal of the season. Chelsea, nevertheless continued their dominance over Eddie Howe’s men as Victor Moses went close with a half volley but chance after chance fell for the Blues to get a third but it wasn’t to be until the 90th minute when a deflected Pedro’s strike sealed the win for Chelsea as they consilidate their spot at the top of the table with a 9 point gap pending City and Liverpool results.

Chelsea’s win was their twelfth on the trout as they break their winning record which stood at eleven with Pedro picking up his 5th booking which rules him out of new years eve clash with Stoke.

Chelsea star Eden Hazard spoke ahead of the Blues’ home game against Bournemouth, when Antonio Conte will try to get another crucial win.

The Belgium international, when asked about his unique forward thinking on the pitch, told the club’s official website: “It is natural, I play with instinct,

“I don’t think about I need to do this or I need to do that. Once I have the chance to do something, it is instinct it depends on – sometimes I dribble, sometimes I pass the ball. I see a guy who is in the better place to shoot, I pass the ball. And when I dribble I don’t look at the balance of the opponent”.

“It is my way to play, I like to create some problems in the other defence. I like to touch the ball, I like to try to do something and sometimes I do, sometimes not but I know I am good when I go one against one, sometimes even one against two. I have got this quality so it is my style of play.”

“In football now you can see a lot of passes, – Hazard added – But when we were young we watched a lot of video on YouTube and we wanted to watch some clips of Ronaldinho, Robinho, players like that because they liked to dribble, and we wanted to do this”.

Belgian football teachers are developing dribbling skills and encouraging one v ones, especially the young teams.

Hazard said: “Now in the young teams in Belgium, they watch the professionals and we have players like me, Dries Mertens who plays for Napoli, Kevin De Bruyne, a lot of small guys with technical ability and we try to teach them this. It is like Barcelona, the professional team plays one way and all the youth teams they play the same way”.

“So in Belgium it is the same, in the young teams in Belgium we try to do the same as the professionals so we like to have the ball to dribble, we teach them that”.

Moreover, Hazard is the Premier League’s most fouled player with 54 fouls suffered so far.

“I think every year it is the same, – Hazard ended – When you’ve got the ball at your feet or you keep the ball, you have to be ready to get kicked so I don’t complain about this. I just want to be protected but it is football now and sometimes you get kicked and you get a free-kick or a penalty and it is a chance to score, so I am happy to do this”.

Sky Sports pundits Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher both picked up their half-way team of the season and, of course, many Chelsea players were chosen by the two English football legends.

Speaking about the strikers, Carragher had words full of praise for Chelsea star Diego Costa:

I’ve gone for Costa, I think he’s been outstanding,” the ex Liverpool defender said.

“He’s top goalscorer in the league and I think he makes a massive difference, when he’s on song you think he’s really going to take some stopping.”

This is the team chosen by Carragher, with other four Blues players in it:

Pickford, Azpilicueta, Luiz, Van Dijk, Bertrand, De Bruyne, Kante, Lallana, Hazard, Costa, Sanchez

While Neville chose these ones, six Blues players made his top XI:

Courtois, Azpilicueta, Luiz, Van Dijk, Rose, Lallana, Kante, Fernandinho, Hazard, Costa, Ibrahimovic.

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte spoke about Eden Hazard, who missed last game against Sunderland due to an injury.

“I think he’s fit but then I have to see if decide to put Eden in the starting XI, – Conte said speaking at press conference – But he’s fit, today he trained with us, and then for sure, not only for him, but for the other players, this night also to decide, because it’s not easy to play three games in six days”.

“We played Sunderland on Wednesday, came back at 4am and only had one day to prepare for the game.”

“Before with Eden we played a lot of games and we played very wellAnd then it can happen that a player has an injury. I hope when we have this type of situation the substitute plays very well”.

“I need all my players in every game and I repeat it’s important to have the possibility to choose, above all when we are in an emergency. Until now, we were lucky we haven’t had a lot of injuries.”

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte spoke ahead of the derby against Crystal Palace.

Despite being top of the league six points clear of the second one ( Arsenal) and coming from a ten wins in a row run, the Blues boss claimed his players have to pay attention now because everybody will try to beat the best team in the league, with nothing to lose.

But first, he gave an injury update:

“I think Eden Hazard is fit, but I still have to decide if I put him in the starting XI, I have this night to decide, it’s not easy to play two games in three days, we had very short recvoery time, so it’s important to take the best decision about my formation tomorrow.

“It can happen a player can have an injury and his substitte plays very well, it s important to have the chance to choose. We have no other injuries.

It was rumoured that Chinese Super League side Shanghai SIPG offered Chelsea more than £ 50m for Oscar, that is also attracted by a huge money offer for him.

Conte didn’t dimiss the speculation and commented the situation like this:

“I dont know the amount and the situation, but I think you will know the situation in the right moment.

“It’s not easy to take the best decision, you have also to understand if you choice penalise you.

“If we will replace him in January? I always speak with the club, with the board, they know my thought about the situation. We will try to take the best decision, but I am very sorry if I will go, for the player, for the man.”

The Italian manager was also asked about PSG star Marco Verratti, who some rumours claimed was in negotiations with Chelsea:

“I don’t like to speak of players that are not in my team, it’s a lack of respect for everyone.

Chelsea were top of the league four times in Christmas period and then four times won the league, with his fingers crossed Conte replied:

“I don’t like the stats and the story, I have to look the present.

“We started without a great ambition, I think it will be very difficult for us this season, we are a great surprise for many people, now it’s important to continue this way.”

Continuing to speak about tomorrow’s clash, the Blues bossa said:

“My players and I have great motivation to get three points, if we continue to win it’s fantastic, tomorrow it’s another derby, it will be very tough, they are not in a great moment, they are not in a good position in the table but they will have ambition.”

Palace manager Alan Pardew said Chelsea seem unbeatable:

“We want to continue to work and improve, in our project, in our system, for us now it’s difficult because the other teams have nothing to lose, everybody will try to break our 10 wins in a row run.

“I think us being top pf the table now is a great surprise, I arrived after a 10th place in the last season, manager change, new idea, new football….It’s not easy. I think we had a difficult moment when we conceded two defeats against Liverpool and Arsenal but then we fixed the things and took off.

“Every game is always open in this league, you must go with great concentration, to be very focused, I think that 6-7 teams can fight for the title until the end.

“I have always great respect for the opinion of other coaches, like Pardew, I think you can achieve some results only with hard work.

“When you arrive from 10 wins of course there is a great respect for you, but I repeat eat that this situation is very good for our rivals, because they have nothing to lose.

“This position is more difficult for us, it’s not easy to continue this way, while our opponents have nothing to lose.

“I don’t like to speak about the past and also about other managers, it’s important to be focused on the present, to achieve the results, we know we have to fight a lot until the end to stay in the title race. The situation can seem easy, but it’s not easy.

Conte was also asked about John Terry‘s situation:

“He’s ready to recover but he’s always with us, he travels with us, he is a really important player, for Chelsea, for me, for his team-mates. I don’t know when he will recover, but he is trying to do that.”

Again, Conte was consulted about Chinese Super League, that is trying to attract big players and managers with insane money offers and was asked if he scared about them:

“The Chinese market is a danger for every team in the world, not only for Chelsea, but I think we must be concentrated on our work. In China there is a lot of money , but I guess this league is fantastic, it must be a honour to work here.

“I can’t predict the future of a single player, I think every single player is the owner of his future.”
