Chelsea are still chasing a place in the next Champions League: the Blues have to defeat Huddersfield Town and Newcastle and hope Liverpool or Tottenham will drop points.

It won’t be easy, but Marcos Alonso claimed Antonio Conte‘s side must do what they can to reach their goal and win both their games.

We have to do our part and win both games and see what happens, but we have to have faith until the end and win our two games,” Alonso told Chelsea official website. “It’s not on us. We have to do our part and win the two games we have left and wait for one of the other teams to lose one game and get there.”

Chelsea legend Michael Essien suggests the Blues should keep faith in Antonio Conte.

After winning the title last season, the West London side are currently five points behind fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur with four matches to play and the Italian coach future seems far from Stamford Bridge.

However, Essien believes that the Italian could still be the man to turn things around.

“He’s a good coach,” Essien told KweséESPN.

“We can see that from last year when he managed to get the best out of the players.

“I think he is still the man but it doesn’t come down to me.”

Chelsea may yet on the season on a high, since they will play FA Cup final against Manchester United, a success that could partially save a disappointing season:

‘It’s the nature of football, sometimes you just can’t explain it,” Essien added.

“Last year was great, this year has not been, but hopefully they can end the season on a high level.”

Chelsea skipper John Terry admitted that being captain of the team in a hard time is no easy task. However, he is convinced that having such a great players like Eden Hazard and one of the best coaches in the world Jose Mourinho, the Blues will get back to winning soon.

Terry told Chelsea official website:

”It’s been difficult and unfamiliar for me but I’ve been doing my normal role within the dressing room and around the club that stays among us as a group of individuals,”

”Speaking about me personally and my own form, I can certainly be better for sure. I need to be back up to where I was last season, and where my stats and records show from the last year.”

”If I can do that, and collectively we can all do that, we’re going to be in a much better position. It’s been difficult but I’m prepared to stand up because I’m sure we’re going to get out of it”

Chelsea captain has also stressed the importance of keeping talented young players and managers at Stamford Bridge:

”There’s been talk about this, that and the other with the manager and Eden”

”We’re talking about the best manager at this football club I’ve seen and Eden being one of the best players I’ve seen, and there’s been talk about them leaving the club or going elsewhere.”

”For me, we have to keep them in the Premier League and here. People can’t be happy to see us, Jose and the team doing badly. We need to keep the best people in English football and make English football the best in the world year after year. The only way we do that is with the best managers. He’s the best manager by far and Eden’s one of the best players I’ve ever worked with by far.”

Chelsea midfielder Ramires claims that Jose Mourinho has boundless confidence of the Chelsea dressing room.

The Brazilian decided to publicly support Mourinho to cut off all the rumors saying that Chelsea players are in conflict with him.

Words of support will certainly help the Special One as he is now the bookies’ favourite to be the next Premier League manager to lose his job.

Ramires said:

“We’ve not lost a bit of trust in Jose. Everyone trusts him. We think he is the best manager for us,”

“Obviously when things don’t go the way that everyone expects a lot of questions are asked. But we still trust him.”

“I understand perfectly where he is coming from with what he said regarding where, if he didn’t have the confidence of the players he would step aside. But that’s not the case at all. We are all together.”

“Maybe it’s a shared guilt because when things don’t got the way that everyone expects people look at the players and the manager. But we are all working together to get out of this situation – we want to be at the top of the table. Not the bottom.”

“I think it very normal when we are not playing well and we are losing for the manager to take it out on the players. He needs to get a reaction.”

“Maybe some players are not doing what he expects them to do so that’s why he is on top of us, on top of things, trying to get a reaction because he knows he can get the best out of us.”

“So we all need to calm down and we can get out of this.”

“Obviously when you lose a few games in a row the confidence level goes a bit low. We’ve not had the chance to win a few games in a row and get back that confidence.”

“As far as the mood is concerned, it is fine.”

“We are training and working hard. We are doing the best we can to get out of this situation that we have put ourselves in. We have not produced good performances but we are working on it.”

Former Chelsea midfielder Andy Townsend is convinced that Jose Mourinho has lost the faith of his players. According to his words, all the Blues woes are a result of lack of  faith in the Portuguese coach.

Chelsea is currently 16th in the Premier League table which is a result significantly deviating from the expectations of the fans and the players themselves.

While everyone are wondering what is the result of poor form of Chelsea, a former Blues Townsend reveals his theory.

Townsend told talkSPORT:

“Clearly Jose is rattled,”

“There doesn’t seem to be a tremendous amount of harmony at the moment in the squad.”

“One of the greatest strengths he’s always had – I remember speaking to players who weren’t playing under him and they always said he was top class, even those who weren’t getting the game time, they always conceded he was the best.”

“Now, I’m looking at this group and their relationship with the manager and I don’t see that.”

“Jose has a problem and the Chelsea players don’t believe in him as much as they used to. That is showing in both the results and the performances.”
