Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is disappointed after his team draw vs Everton in today’s Premier League game at Goodison Park.

For sure we must be disappointed because we deserve to get three points,” – Conte said -. “Everton are the best team in this league outside the top six. We played this way with great personality, intensity and concentration. If you want to win this game, you must score. You need to be more clinical.”

Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois didn’t have to make any save today at Goodison Park vs Everton, but on the other end of the pitch, his colleague Pickford denied the Blues the chance to go back home with three points.

After the game Courtois spoke to Sky Sports admitting that also with Alvaro Morata it wouldn’t have been easy to beat Everton:Coming here was always going to be tough, they`re on a good run so we expected a tough game but we tried our best to win. Their goalkeeper made a few good saves and we had to be careful on the counter but other than a few free-kicks they didn`t have many chances. It`s not easy when a team falls back, I think we could`ve had more shots on target but we didn`t have a big guy up front despite lots of crosses into the box. We concentrated hard on keeping the clean sheet, which is a good thing from today of course, but we`re not happy we didn`t create the chances to score. “I`m not sure it would have been different with Morata, it was just one of those days”.

Despite 8 shots on target, Chelsea didn’t score today at Goodison Park vs Everton.

Altough Morata was suspended, striker Michy Batshuayi wasn’t included in the starting XI by Antonio Conte and now the Blues manager explains why he decided to begin the game with Pedro, Hazard and Willian:

I think at this moment it is the best option for us. I have to make the best decision for the team”. – Conte said – Pedro, Hazard and Willian are in good form and I’m trying to continue in this way, especially because Morata is out. Batshuayi played the game against Bournemouth and is coming back from injury. [And] I think this is the best solution for us in this moment.”

The first half between Everton and Chelsea at Goodison Park ended 0-0.

The Blues starting better but the Toffees were able to create a couple of dangerous chances in the end of the first part, especially the latest one with Dominic Calvert-Lewin that didn’t assist his team-mate Sigurdsson, alone in the middle of the box and ready to beat Thibaut Courtois, trying a weak shot after dribbling past Christensen and Azpilicueta.

Other 45′ for Antonio Conte’s side to try to get the three points they need to remain attached to the top of Premier League table.

Spanish striker Pedro comments his goal vs Everton at Goodison Park and he defines it probably “the best in a Chelsea shirt”.

“It was nice, on my left foot”. – Pedro said – I`m happy to have scored a goal and for the three points. The points were very important for the team to continue to be at the top of the league. It was good to score again and help the team, and for me, it was an amazing goal.”

David Luiz left the field at Goodison Park for an injury and, at present, is not sure the Brazilian defender will be available for Chelsea‘s next game.

However, manager Antonio Conte believes Nathan Ake will be a good replacement as he can stand in for David Luiz.

I am very pleased for the impact of Ake in the Everton game”. – Conte told Sky Sports News – “He came on and I think he looks a veteran and it is great. He is only a young player that started to play for two years, Watford and Bournemouth, and now is showing great commitment, work-rate, concentration when I ask him to play. It is great for him.”

Mauricio Pochettino before Sunday’s games was confident Tottenham can have an opportunity to reduce the gap with Chelsea.

However, The Blues victory at Goodison Park canceled this option for the Spurs.

Of course I am disappointed because it was a great opportunity to reduce the gap”.  – Pochettino said – “It is four, with four to play, all is possible in football and we’ll see what happens next week. But now it’s important to feel proud, happy, because the last game (at White Hart Lane) against Arsenal and all that means for our fans and those who love Tottenham, it was a fantastic afternoon. Yes, of course we are disappointed because we have not reduced the gap on Chelsea, but I am so proud of the performance of the team and our support.”

What am I not seeing/missing?” are just some of the messages posted on their social media by Chelsea fans on Lukaku’s possible move.

Writing for BetVictor former Ballon d’Or winner Michael Owen picked his two key players for Everton v Chelsea:

“This should be a cracking game with Everton looking to exorcise their 5-0 loss to the Champions-elect at the Bridge earlier in the season,” the ex Liverpool, Real Madrid and Man United forward wrote.

“Only Liverpool have won at Goodison in the PL so far this season and it is their home form, eight successive wins, which has seen Everton challenge for a top-six spot.

Diego Costa has a good record against Everton and he was back to his best against Southampton midweek.

“Reports suggest Romelu Lukaku is earmarked as a replacement for Costa should he leave the Bridge for China in the summer and the outcome of the game could revolve around the two inform strikers.”

A footnotte added: “Michael’s recommendation: Diego Costa to score at anytime at Evens.”

Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson reckons Chelsea can obtain a win at Goodison Park this Sunday in a clash against Everton that that to many people seem the last tough obstacle between the Blues and the Premier League title:

Everton are a weird team,” the ex Arsenal player wrote his column for the TV network.

“They get to a certain stage, you think they’re set to kick on for a top four or top-five place, and they just melt away.

“A few weeks ago they were flying, went to Middlesbrough and drew 0-0. Then they were flying again and got well beaten by Tottenham. And then they were flying again, go to West Ham and draw 0-0.

“They have not taken that next step and I worry for them. It will be a competitive game but Chelsea should have too much.”
